  1. Ok this is gonna be long but I need answers. Thank you for ANY help or info you got Yesterday I had what I thought was a horrendous gas pain spell, lasted for almost two hours. I even broke down and had a few sips of sprite to ease my suffering before I could get to the local Walgreens for some EXTRA Strength Gas-X. Eventually it slowly (very) subsided. Now I'm not so sure it was gas at all ?? Today, I got up late (very) and had some ice tea and went grocery shopping and to pickup my pain meds at Walgreens. When I got home I realized it was almost 4pm and I hadn't eaten anything to speak of. I felt sooooo much better from yesterday I had bought some Soup-At-Hand chicken with stars and drank that slowly but I knew I hadn't had near enough Protein today so I shortly after had a Protein shake (30g, 160cal) and about an hour later it all started again... I've had 3 Gas-X pills, a small cup of clear seltzer that I sipped and swished in my ed in my mouth and sat in my massage chair for about 40 minutes to try to shake it up and release some gas and pain. I just got out of the chair to write this and I already feel the pressure building once again... Now I'm thinking maybe I'm stuck. the pain is around my sternum and after all that time in my chair, the seltzer and the Gas-X if it was gas I would have expected some relief by now. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
  2. It's been two weeks since surgery and I'm dying to actually eat something, not anything unhealthy or overindulgent, but something to chew (well). Has anyone "jumped the gun" and started to incorporate solids before being given an official "all clear"? Let me be clear, NOT unhealthy, bulky, just something to chew.
  3. Doing ok, down to 255!!! as of yesterday. Started at 284 day of 1st dr. appt back in feb. Pretty bad port incision pain comes and goes. Bout "DONE" with the protein shakes.., bought 7 cases from Costco. The mistake I made was that I started replacing two meals with them even though doc didn't require any pro-op diet (except for the day before surgery), now I'm just sick of 'em. Been supplemting with Pacific brand Butternut squash soup & Campbell's Soup-At-Hand. Not very hungry ( but I can't wait to get my 1st fill and start trying to see what I can eat in the real world, healthy of course). Got a freezer full of morningstar products (which I already love)
  4. Quite a bit of port/incision/hernia repair pain today (banded July 2)... Called in for a refill of the good stuff Please phone ring ring RIIINNNGGG!
  5. Ok, i can't take it anymore... Called for a refill of the good stuff. Going to get it on my lunchbreak
  6. Had a hernia repair at time of surgery amd OMG! it hurts for days and days... Things have improved however I stepped off a curb too fast and I felt like I had been shot!!!
  7. I've got the gas signs in my chest, they aren't painful but I wish I'd get some action. Kinda spooked that when it comes it will be more than my system can handle. Meant to buy some gas-x but forgot now I'm too tired to go to the store
  8. I had hiatal repair done at surgery and I must say it was pretty rough
  9. Had to have a hiatal hernia repaired so the last few days have been purty rough, improved as of today... How are you feeling??
  10. Well, I did it! It feels a little anticlimactic I must admit. Scars are so not a big deal. However during surgery they found a hernia (which they had mentioned at pre-op, but said it was not one that it would require ANY intervention... wrong). I am in way more pain than I expected. I presume it's from the hernia repair more than the band placement. I only have some tenderness at the port site. Had to email my boss to add Thursday & Friday to my leave request (not happy about that). I walk a lot at work (2-3 miles daily on average) but at present I walk like an old man. I'm most comfortable with 1 pain pill & 1 muscle relaxer every 3-4 hours but only helps when I'm sittin on my behind virtually still. Getting up & down sucks but I've developed a pseudo system to aggravate my aches and pains minimally. Have had some basement gas, but have been having slight hiccup spells that I know are filling me up with air. The thought of the emminent belch is kinda scary. That's all for now! Back to bed :-p Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  11. No assigned pre-op diet but my surgeon asked that I do my best to lose the 10 lbs I put on since my first consult back in late January. Down since last pre-op visit on June 12th... We should stay in touch. My surgeon also routinely does an aggressive fill at time of surgery and according to him he doesn't have patients ask for additional fills very often... That sounds kinda weird but I won't argue. I want max restriction asap! I've been substituting at least one meal a day with the Premier shakes from Costco (during the work week two meals) I really enjoy the costco shakes and they have almost no sugar, just 3g or so and 160 calories! Lost 5 of the 10lbs already!
  12. Great job!...Our starting weight and goal weight are roughly the same! Yes, I realize that I'm a guy but I am always on the lookout for folks with similar stats. If you don't mind my asking, have you had any skin issues... As I am overweight (considerably at the 280's) my surgery is Monday and my only concern is flab. My target weight is 175 (that's what I should weigh according to all the guides) I have NO stretch marks (I don't know how I got so lucky) I am hoping I will "snap back" for the most part. I understand this is a personal issue but it would be greatly appreciated if you could share. Thanks in advance (I'm so jealous )
  13. July 2nd right here... Are you anxious?, Nervous? I'm getting quite a bit of both...
  14. I am only gonna take two days off for my banding, no choice really as I'm almost out of leave because of a family emergency...hope it's enough :-/
  15. My doctor said that he will "aggressively" fill my ban at surgery (July 2) and most of his patients do not normally need additional fills. I like the sound of that!
  16. me too, july 2... Excited? Nervous? (me too)
  17. From what I have been told, when you have BCBS they wait until the last minute to submit you because they (BCBS) never denies. That is what the admin at my surgeons office told me... I called and asked them to submit my claim immediately (because I was nervous also) and they nicely did, then called me two days later to tell me I am approved! Call the admin of you surgeons office and set you mind at ease. Now all I gotta do is show up, lay down take a few deep breaths & wake up & start living!
  18. Ok so here is my question... Anyone have any info on sodium intake post/pre-op. Isn't Crystal Light and the like full of sodium?? Doesn't sodium essentially dehydrate you? I'm not much of a straight water drinking person so this would be adjustment I guess I would have to make but somebody gimme an out, a substitute or tell me I'm nuts!! I wanna do this right... ( I hope I'm just nuts )
  19. So burping means you are possibly hungry & hiccups mean you are full?? My surgery is coming up July 2nd and I wanna be sure to know... Ya know.., the signs beforehand. A little "freaked" already so the more info the better.
  20. I'm getting banded on July 2nd and although I'm ready, I'm getting a tiny bit nervous... These boards are amazing and give a real world aspect to the journey that the "documentation" lacks. I can't wait but at the same time I can't wait for it to be over... You are among friends, trust me. WE know.
  21. A little out of the loop... NSV? What is that??
  22. Thanks for the info!!! Always on the lookout
  23. I got the same date! I can't wait! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
