  1. I am scheduled for 24th!! Me and my mom are getting banded together, having surgery back to back... Good luck everyone!

How incredible you and your mom are doing this together!! My mom wants to do it but she really doesn't need it. She needs to get a few off but not as much as me. She is my #1 supporter and best friend and I think it's fab you both are doing this together!!

  2. I had the same thing happen to me sad.png it was like little blisters and my throught was itcy and it made my ears itch and i also had a cold but they still let me have my surgery and eveything went fine smile.png So good luck and dont worry about it to much

Thanks Hannah! I SO hope I have your experience!!! I am treating myself like a baby and doctoring myself. I really hope I didn't come this far for a big obstacle.

  3. I am supposed to be banded this Friday the 3nd. I woke up this morning with a mild sore throat and a bit achey. I started slamming Emergen-C packs, echinacea and zinc. I am no longer allowed to have any medicines so I can't combat with that.

I am SO worried. What if I get sick, will they postpone surgery????

I just had my EKG and labs on Friday and got the clear from my PCP to go ahead with surgery. Now I am so worried there will be a hiccup.

  4. I was supposed to do 3 liquid opti fast shakes a day. I could also have broth and popsicles and Jello in between.

I called the nurse since the two other surgeons in the SAME office require 2 shakes and then a lean Protein and veggie at night. She said while she couldn't tell me I was allowed to switch, I was big girl and needed to make my own decision. She also stated she wasn't a fan of Opti fast because the 2nd ingredient was Sugar and the 4th ingredient was Corn Syrup Solids. There are SO many carbs in these shakes so I have no idea how these are better than me eating lean meat and chicken.

Anyways, I switched out the dinner the shake for the meal and have lost almost 11 pounds. I am now on week 2.

  5. I think my body is going thru some withdraws as I am having a lean meat and veggie at night. Super healthy but WAY under my normal calories. I am logging in My Fitness Pal and it screams at me that I am eating way too low. Obviously, I am. LOL

But I think I am withdrawing from carbs, sugars and caffeine and then starting my cycle yesterday, it's a big bitchy whirlwind hahahah.

    Better than next week!

I can't believe it's next Friday!! So crazy! I have my EKG, labs and chest Xray this Friday.

  6. My wife was 248 and the Doctor did not have her do any special diet, and I asked about that for myself too when I went in for my consultation and they said i did not need one either i was about 220 at the time. So possibly your weight isnt high enough for him to put you on a special diet.

I am about the same weight as your wife and I have to do one. I really think it's surgeon based and there are SO many differences, it's crazy!

  7. Hi Saucy, I read your blog and I think it's awesome. So far i am doing okay on the pre op diet. I am freakin starving though. I am on day 4 and I have lost 5 lbs. I am doing a liquid Protein diet with Protein Bars. I have 4-6 shakes and 3 bars every day (800-900 cal). The only real issue I am having is I get more fatigued at the gym. I am hoping that my energy will come back once my body gets used to the lower calorie diet. I am glad there is someone on here with my surgery date to compare notes with.

Thanks so much about the blog comment :) Please join if you haven't because I want to be able to keep up with everyone thru this journey and share what we are going thru. Ironically I haven't been hungry at all until tonight. I feel like I could gnaw my arm off right now!! Now sure what to do but a popsicle sure isn't filling me up. LOL I only had about 670 calories today so my body is screaming at me and wondering what I am doing to it.

Good for you on the gym! I have been lax on this part. I have been doing a lot of activity like walking, tons of housecleaning, moving furniture (we are in a major remodel and need to finish before surgery) so I know I have been working a ton but I really need to get in a gym. I know I will have awhile before the doc releases me to do real exercise so I will join one as soon as I get the green light post surgery.

  8. Im kinda freaking out. They moved my date from the 3rd to THIS FRIDAY!!! Im kinda feeling ill informed because they have me on NO pre-op diet..not even mention of one...???

Wow!! This Friday?? Well, why don't you call them and ask them? You may be able to do a few days of Protein shakes and then a super lite lean meat and veggie for dinner?

Or - you may not need one?? Some people have stated that their Dr didn't require one at all. I wish this process was more streamlined. So many different experiences and requirements both pre and post. I have read a ton of the shrinking of the liver and it's benefits pre surgery. So maybe read up and if he doesn't require it, adapt one if you see fit. ?! So excited for you none the less about this Friday!! I will be one week after you so by the following week, you can tell me what to expect LOL

  9. After too much confusion and a surgeon moving offices in the middle of my appointments..I finally got a date today of February 3rd!!! Im so excited!!!

I am also Feb 3rd. I started the 2 week liquid diet today. I was ready to start this next phase. They have rescheduled my surgery date 2 times so I am not really excited, just anxious that something else is going to come up.

We are all on the same date!

How is your preop diet coming along??

I called my nurse at the surgeons office and switched things up a bit. Long story but I wrote a blog piece on it if interested. (blog is in my signature). I am on the opti fast for part of the day and it's gross. lol

But I am down almost 7 pounds in 3 days. Pretty crazy!! Oh and I finally found the liquid Tylenol. It's 500 mg but they now label it as Tylenol Sore Throat?! Not sure why, there is nothing else in the ingredients list. It was under my nose all along but since I was searching for the old bottle, I didn't think to look for it in the cold section with the other tylenols that have added ingredients.

I also went to a local apothecary health food neat shop and they had chewable papaya enzymes super cheap. I bought 200 of them for like $3.00. Not too shabby! Hope they work.

I can't believe NEXT Friday we have surgery!!! Holy Guacamole!!!

  10. I am nervous and excited as well. I definitely am not having 2nd thoughts. I started this process two yrs ago and wimped out and it's not happening again. After seeing several friends do amazing and now at goal as well as all the inspirational stories on here, I am definitive on it.

February 3rd is right around the corner - eeek!

I just picked up my 2 week supply of Opti-fast which I am totally dreading and start this Friday. I have also bought the Pre and Post Ops foods, Vitamins, supplements, Protein powders and other stuff to be prepared.

Next, I am buying Papaya Enzyme chewables to keep here for future stuck episodes. Some people say it works, others it doesn't. I will try tho.

I have also been on a manhunt for liquid Tylenol and can't find it ANYWHERE. I am even trying to find it online and get it shipped but to no avail. Hmmpphh, if anyone knows where to find it let me know.

We are RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER FEB BANDSTERS!! :)

  11. I like Splenda and Truvia the best. I am not a major soda drinker but I love Club Soda with lime. With that said, there are plenty of teas on the market and if you like them sweet, add splenda or truvia.

Crystal Lite has an Iced tea version as well. I personally can't stand mios and threw all of mine away. I know a lot of people swear by them here but they left me with a horrible aftertaste. Where as Crystal Lite doesn't for me.

But I also bought a super cool pitcher at BBB which has an infusion insert. So you add your Water and you can infuse the Water with anything. I have added limes and lemons, also added rasberries and lime, etc... but it doesn't make it sweet like fruity sweet waters. You can get creative and add different items in the infuser.< /p>

But as far as your initial question, I definitely think truvia is the closest to a sugar because it's a granuale and dissolves nicely. Splenda is a good one as well. No after tastes to me.

  12. Hi ladies! Another Feb bandster here!! I was submitted to approval on Tuesday and within an hour and a half the surgeons office called me and said I was APPROVED!!! I still can't believe it. My date is Feb 3rd so it looks like I may be the first of us in the month eek!!

I started a blog with my journey - it's in my signature. Please follow my journey and I would love to follow all of you as well. That way we can see what we are experiencing at the same time, work out our frustrations and more :) The more support the better I think!!

    Happy New Birthdays to us!!

  13. I would think it be VERY VERY helpful to have anti vomitting medicine at the house AT ALL TIMES as a precaution. I know there are Rx's that are anti vomiting and I wonder if a PCP will auto prescribe one just in case. Things to add to my band list before I get banded. Hope he feels better soon!
