  1. Today was 10 days and I feel so much better. The first 4 days for me were pretty rough. My back was killing me and the port pain was painful. By day 5 I turned the corner. By day 7, I turned into a crazy woman and was beyond cabin fevered and depressed.

Got out of the house for the first time Friday evening for a few hours and felt like a million bucks.

By Sat, I was out all day and by Sunday I was out walking a few miles.

My only pain now is at night in bed if I turn the wrong way.

My incisions are starting to itch BAD because they are healing so it's driving me nuts. The hospital told me to leave the steri strips on and let them fall off on their own. As of this morning they were still on and I was getting pink welts under the tape. I had to carefully take them off so I think the welts are making the itch worse.

Not sure what to do about them? The incision is ok but the welts are around the area. I want to claw my skin off.

They look really good tho and I don't think I will have bad scarring at all in my 5 incisions.

  2. Mine is 2 weeks after as well. I was banded Feb 3rd and I go in on Feb 20th. I have my first fill 2 weeks after that as well for early March.

So as you can see, it's not out of the ordinary.

I was told to follow up with my PCP after surgery which I haven't done yet. I am healing well so will call and see if I need to.

  3. I don't think the question is can you.. the question is should you. Why are you risking stretching your pouch?? I didn't get this surgery to still shove down a big burger and fries after.

I am in no way being snarky but just concerned after reading many people with slipped bands, this is NOT the route I want to.

I wouldn't risk over eating in large amounts. We made a massive sacrifice to help ourselves and insert a crazy device into our bodies. We went thru pain and healing. Don't risk it!!

  4. How are you feeling now? I was banded exactly a week ago on Feb 3rd.

I feel much better. My Dr doesn't give any initial fills because of the swelling. My first fill is scheduled for early March.

What is your post op diet consisting of?

  5. Do you have a recliner? That helped me for the first 2-3 nights to sleep. I was NOT able to lay straight because it felt like it was pulling on my port.

Stay on top of the pain med! By day 4 you will a million times better! I was banded last Friday and feel so much better today. Just port soreness - gas is totally gone. Good luck!!

  6. First report after the big day! I have to say, this was a bigger ordeal than I expected. I am home from the hospital since yesterday afternoon; surgery was around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. I couldn't sleep at all the night before the surgery. Normally, I never have any trouble, but one of my colleagues said, "You won't sleep a wink the night before...." which came true. The power of suggestion, I guess. I did stay overnight at the hospital and am very glad I did, due to the constant monitoring and dosing of pain meds, heparin shots, etc. The worst thing was feeling a need to use the restroom constantly while needing a nurse to unhook iv, oxygen, leg massager thingies, etc. Then not being able to go once reaching the rr. All in all, a terrible night! The pain was more than expected. My belly is all black and blue from the heparin shots, incisions, etc. I am walking around as much as I can.day; daughter and son in law coming over later. Do not refuse help! It is very comforting!I have needed to take the pain meds during the night, although it is better during the day. My son stayed with me all day yesterday.

    Hi Greekie!

I had my surgery at Palms of Pasadena as well last Friday. One week ago.

I had the EXACT same experience as you so don't think this is out of the ordinary.

The first 3 days are the toughest but it DOES GET BETTER EACH DAY!! I am on day 7 and feel SOOOO much better. Walk and get the gas out. Hold a pillow to your belly. Use a heating pad on your back. After two days, take a nice hot shower and beat the Water on your back. It felt wonderful. Stay hydrated and stay on top of the pain meds!! You will be better SOON!! I promise smile.png

And by the way - the unhooking to use the bathroom and not being able to go was HORRIBLE. There was so much pressure and a lot of IV in us. I feel ya!! LOL

Who was your surgeon? Mine was Dr. Rehnke

  7. HI Im still new to all this and I am just over 2 weeks post op.

I find I am struggling with my appitite as its almost the same as before having

the band fitted. I am trying not to over eat as I dont want to damage my band

but find im hungry a lot !!!!

I wasnt really expecting this is this normal until I get my first fill ??

What has everyone else done if this has happened to them ?

Sorry just a little deflated by it today.

What stage are you in? I was just banded last Friday and my appetite came on like a vengeance by day 4. I progressed from Clear Liquids to full liquids and that has helped. I have a Protein Shake in the Am and some creamy Soup in the afternoon and dinner. Then in between I drink a lot.

Are you in creamies or softs?

  8. B- minus 11 hours......Yes, folks, I have 11 hours until I have to be at the hospital for my surgery!

I have to be at Palms of Pasadena Hospital on St Pete Beach/ Gulfport tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. I am 4th in line for the surgery. I am so nervous I don't know what to do with myself. I haven't had my last supper yet, but I will soon. Have packed my little bag and am almost ready to roll. It takes an hour to get to the hospital so my son Tommy is going to sleep over and drive me down there in the morning. Alarm is set for 5:00 a.m.

Good Luck Greekie!!!! I was banded at Palms of Pasadena on Friday the 3rd. They were AMAZINGGGG!!!

Who is your surgeon??? I had Dr Rehnke. If you have him, they tried to send me home WITHOUT pain meds and it was a BAD idea. MAKE SURE YOU GET PAIN MEDS!!!!

But everyone in the surgical team was so incredible!!! Best of Luck to you :)

  9. Well this sucks! I am scheduled for my surgery on Friday, and I am getting sick! My throat has been hurting for a couple days. Scratchy and sore. Now I am sneezing and my ears are hurting, and my nose is running. Also, I am coughing up some icky gunk. As soon as my various doctor's offices open in the morning, I am calling them. I HOPE I don't have to postpone my surgery!

I had the SAME thing happen to me last week before my surgery. I had a sore throat and body aches. Get on Zithromax STAT!!! That helped me and by the 3rd day, I was great. I also drowned myself in Emergen-C. I took a lot of it and shocked my system with Vitamin C and Zinc. Do it now before it's too late.

    Hope you feel better!!

SaucyBandster...so glad to hear everything went ok....! yeah ! you are banded! I am so happy for you

Thanks sweets!! It has been a ROUGH 3 days but today is SO much better. Thankfully!! I just wrote a blog on it. I have lots of blogs to catch up on :) I am happy to be on the other side now!

  10. I too was banded on Feb 3rd and had no idea how much pain I would be in. Definitely more than I expected. My port pain is throbbing and feels like it pulls when I move and the trapped gas in my back and shoulders feels like someone is stabbing me.

But what I can't believe is that you were banded on the 3rd too and are drinking Protein Shakes, creamy Soups and yogurt.

My surgeon has me on Clear Liquids for two weeks to heal. I'm having trouble getting anything down because I have zero hunger but I'm pushing liquids to stay hydrated. I'm amazed he let's you eat that and you can already. Wow!!

But I thought I was a big baby too. I can barely move and am still in pajamas. I took my first shower today and took the bandages off. My port is right above my belly button which surprised me. I thought it would be on my side.

  11. I USED to love my fitbit. I really loved it. Until I washed it last week and it's now dead.

I had it clipped to my yoga pants and was exhausted and threw them in the laundry pile. Then the fitbit accidently went into the washing maching the next morning.

It's tiny and black and blended in perfectly.

So be very careful of accidently keeping it on your clothes because I am now out of $100 and have to get another one :(
