    Periods

@@Jenna1985 I had all sorts of weird issues with my periods after I had surgery. Extra short, extra long, skipping all together. It mostly leveled out after a few months (3-4). If you're concerned (I was!) talk to your doc. I think it's normal though.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

I keep forgetting to do this. But my stats from last week are below. I'll check in tomorrow when I do my w/i. I'm doing ok. I have to be really careful though. I am finding that i can eat a bit more than before. I still have a good amount of weight to loose. and I'm NOT exercising. Sigh... having the WLS was great coudln't be happier, But as we all know, it's just a tool. We have to do the work.

    WLS Worries: Sagging Skin

@@gabrielle2014 I have to tell that having WLS is the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. Not only do I look so much better, but I feel amazing, and I'm not even at goal yet! I did not have the same health issues as you, i.e. arthritis---however I was lugging around so much weight that I just felt terrible. I live in NYC and taking the subway stairs was a big problem for me. I felt as though I was having a heart attack all the time. I no longer feel that way. As of this weekend I am down 102lbs! I'm also in my 40's (42) and truth be told, I have sagging skin, and it's ugly. However, I have made the choice that I will have corrective surgery. It will be painful and likely expensive (if my ins doesn't pay) but it will be another part of my WL journey. If you think that your weight is hindering your health, and traditional weight loss methods have not worked, then I think WLS is right choice for you. You can deal with the skin issue afterwards. Regarding depression, I didn't have a whole of lot that after surgery. Some, but not too much. Dealing with not being able to eat as much, is harder than I thought. But so far, so good. Keep in mind that everyone is different. Best of luck with whatever you decide. :-)

    Shoe size!?

I am NOT complaining about this, but my feet are shrinking? I was a 10. Now? Maybe a 9 1/2. So weird to me. Meanwhile my feet are flopping around in the super cute shoes I had from before. Go figure.
  12. @@ges12877 I haven't done it yet, but I signed up and have stuff in my "closet" this what I needed to hear. Perfect! Thanks....
  13. I'm doing pretty well. I'm down 93lbs and the weight is still coming off, though a bit slower. I am also noticing an increase in appetite which does concern me. I've been doing my best to avoid most refined carbs (bread, rice, Pasta etc) mostly because they make me uncomfortable. The head hunger is really rough on me. I keep having to ask, am I hungry? Am I sure? I eat a lot of Soup, home made and store bought. That still seems to go down the easiest, though I am eating just about everything. My work outs are NOT consistent. Financial reasons have caused me to stop seeing my personal trainer. I miss seeing her, and hope things turn around so that I can go back. Summer is great, because of all the fruit that is available, so I am trying to get as much fresh fruits and veggies in. I'm getting my supplements in as much as I can. I can do better, but I'm ok with it. I have experienced hair loss. Luckily I had "hair to spare" so it's not too bad. But I can tell that it's not as thick as it was. I hope I get some of the volume back. My work id photo was at my highest, when I see myself now, I can't believe it. I look so different, even to myself. My personal goal was to loose 150lbs from my highest, I'm not there yet, but getting there. I actually can't remember what my doctor had suggested. My goal is still to lose 150, but once I get to 120 down, I will reevaluate and see how I look and feel. My biggest size was 24 pants and 26 top. I'm now into a 16. My goal is to be a 10. But all of this depends on how I look and feel. All in all I feel great and am so happy that I did this. Best thing I ever did for myself.
  14. I'm sorry your mom did that. My mother did the same thing. I very specifically told my parents NOT to tell anyone---this was really directed towards my mother. She told one of my aunts, which as far as I am concerned like telling the whole world. I am not ashamed of having had surgery, but it was MY news to share or NOT. You are very justified in feeling hurt and angry. It will go away, I promise @livingmore. Feel good!

    Disturbing Email

oh wow. NO! I do not feel that way in the least. Sure there are times when I miss being able to eat the way that I did. That is the voice of the food addict that still lives in my brain. But I'm so happy that I have lost this weight. I still have to a way to go, but this feels great! If you think this is the right move for you, then go for it. The only times I've gotten sick, is when I've screwed up. Eating way fast or just too much. That's on me. I was given direction on how I would have to eat post surg. If I don't then I'll get sick. That is the deal that I made, with my doctor, NOT the devil. This is one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Truly.

    NSV shout outs

I've had a few NSV... They are almost as good as seeing the scale move down. I can wrap a towel around my body! I am less out breath when I go up the stairs! When someone sits next to me on a bus, I don't feel like I'm taking up all the room! Woo hoo!

    HELP!

@@lizzyloo same thing happened to me. I was really upset about it. But it kicks into high gear. You're doing well!
  18. You look great! Can't wait to catch up to you!
  19. I'm about 5 months post surgery and feel like I'm doing well. But I'm curious about what people are eating day to day. I have found that carbs (rice, crackers, Pasta, etc) just don't work for me. I can't explain it really, suffice to say that I eat rice, and I don't feel well. I'm mostly sticking to Protein, fruits, veggies some dairy. For some reason I am craving candy, which I never did PREsurgery. I'm not sure where that is coming from really. I'd like to get myself on some kind of actual plan. While, I'll reach out to the nutritionist at my doctor's practice and see what she suggests. How many calories are you guys averaging?
  20. @@Nicolanz riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight? Beats me.
  21. Thanks all! @@Heather B I will def watch the candy. The trick is to not have any at all. Not in the house etc. I think I'm doing ok. I just need to create a plan and keep to it. I feel as though I need more structure.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

Hi! So my stats are below...
  23. Hi @nmr--- Just to piggy back on what everyone has said, I highly recommend some type of therapy. Also--you are not alone in what or how you are feeling. I'm 4 months out and while I feel good, I do have some moments of... failure, falling off the wagon, frustration etc. This past weekend, I ate a lot of stuff that I shouldn't have eaten and I felt badly about it. But Monday morning, I got back on track. Weight loss is HARD. None of us had WLS because we were able to loose weight easily. We had/have a problem. Think of yourself as an addict. (I do) And our addiction is different from other addictions---as difficult as it may be for someone to stop drinking--- they don't HAVE to drink. We HAVE to eat. But we don't have to eat ice cream or Nutella. Like @@*Glitter*In*The*Air* I have found staying away from most carbs is the right thing for me. A. Carbs can get you into trouble and B. I find that i don't feel well when I eat them and C. We need the protein Also--I recently started keeping a food journal and am calorie counting. You can make this right, just find all the other tools you need in order to do it. Good Luck!!!

    Miss my........

I miss being able to just "go in". I can't eat nearly as much as I used to and I really miss it. I know I ate way too much before and that was unhealthy for me--that's what I got me to the place where I needed to have the procedure but there was something to be said for being able to put away food. That's what I miss.
