    Self Pay Patients

I played with the idea for years but never felt comfortable with the bypass at all. I also was living a fantasy for there was no way I could of ever afford it in the states. When a guest came in to my job and told me she had the sleeve done. I found this site and saved every nickle, dime and penny. I never looked back and knew it was for me. From the time she told me till the time I was flying to Mexico was around 4 months.

"I was watching "Ruby" the other night and she was having her Women's Fat Night group each share a healthy eating tip with the group. " I thought Ruby went off the air?

    5 Day Post Op Journal

Hi , so sorry for all you discomfort. I must say it does get and fast. One thing that I hear in your post is it sounds like your very good at finding solutions, which means that you prepared yourself. I have seen a lot of others not be so fortunate. I am almost 3 weeks out and I must say everyday have been easier past a week. I was uncomfortable, especially getting things down but as you said everyone heals differently. I thought I would be one of those that do not handle anesthesia well, that was my experience with childbirth and a hysterectomy but for some reason not with this, thank GOD!!! One thing I believe really has helped me is that I was told a long time ago to watch my sodium. That has totally helped with my swelling and I believe has helped my esophogus and my new tummy to heal. Keep doing what your doing and this stage will only be a mere memory very soon.

    One Day Til My Sleeve!

I am 2.5 weeks out. I recall that feeling. You are going to do wonderful. Drink tons of water from now on and stay really low on the sodium (gatorade, ect.) from this point. Someone pointed that out to me and I believe that made all the difference in how much I swelled which in turn help with how sore I wasn't. I was obviously still in pain but I have had surgery before and never considered that and found this much easier swelling wise. I will be praying for you.

    Roller Coasters

On so many levels I relate to your story. I must say, some of which before I was sleeved could never verbalize or have the confidence to share. One that comes to mind, is several years ago while cleaning someones house this little innocent boy said to me "Are you a boy or a girl?" I said "You really don't know?" and he said "No, your fat is in the way". He was not a mean kid he was sincere. I recall the feeling of utter aloneness, isolation from life. I have always felt stuck inside myself and every attempt at trying to lose weight and months at the gym felt like mountian climbing. The sleeve gives me hope of slow and steady. I no longer look for a maricle, my is within me. Thank you God for giving my hope back. He never lets us down! I am only 2+ weeks out I have no remorse. MY tiny tummy given , was truly God sent!

    Old Newbie

I welcome you and respect your thoughts on staying in the States. However, I was a self pay and went to MX (my husband accompanied me) and I had a wonderful experiece the entire time. Not once was I afraid, in bad hands or felt not cared for, matter of fact, it was a better experience than I could of imagined and I was taking care of better than I have ever been in any hospital here. Good qualified surgeons in MX have done many many of these surgeries and are quite experienced. I felt the same way as you did at one time. There was NO WAY I would travel to a foreign country for any reason. I ran out of options and so glad I did. I was hopeless, discouraged and very depressed. Today I am 2 weeks out and feel great, healthy and look forward to the future. Surgery cost $5500.00 including everything except airfare. Just saying.... if you do not have much hope don't rule it out because of fear. There is a forum on here that pertains to traveling to MX, check it out.

    Disappointed!

I work at Cracker Barrel as a waitress. When I started working there years ago I struggled with all of the food. I'm sure fast food is different for it might be more available to you. For me I would have to take a scheduled break or eat after or before my shift. First for me anyway , after working with the same food all the time I am tired of it. It's like working in a donut shop or pizza place, after awhile you might eat it out of conveniece but it is not what you crave. Try to ask yourself if you really want it or is it the idea it is front of you. Bring your lunch, suck on a mint, drink lots of water. Come prepared. Also something that really helped me especially on pre op clear liquid diet was I did not say to myself, "oh that looks good" I said ewwwwww, that is not going to help me. I believe working in the food industry that it is more mindless eating, if you do crave it you know it is the bad carbs your addicted to. Start off treating yourself to something somewhere else. Once you break the habot of MC"D"S food amd swear it off then you can concentrate on starting to make better food choices. Right now your like an alcoholic working in a bar. It doesn't work. Your mindset has to change totally or definitly get a new job.
  11. I really feel for you. I had a freind once several years ago that suffered with that. She was overweight and was in a lot of pain. I would think it would help alot to lose some weight. Have you asked your Dr. or Gyno to prescibe something for it. You poor baby, I feel for you. Healing prayers your way!

    9 Day Pre Op Diet

    Doing good hang in there!!!
  14. Hormones, my mother lost weight after her hysterectomy, strange but that part is true...lol
  15. I was going to say my gallbladder but my luck I will need my gallbladder out in the future, which is not uncommon for when you lose weight rather quickly, you are more seceptable to getting gallstones. Something to ponder...
  16. Also, If you are eating chips which is not a good idea at the stage your in, they are most likely full of carbs, which in turn is one of the biggest triggers for hunger. I am also two weeks out but have that fear in me of that happening so I would not even attempt one, not that I wouldn't lovvvvvvvve to! You can do this, just realized where your at. Only you know what feels right or not. You might have a day or two of discomfort getting back to where you need to be but you can do this. Think of it like you feel hungry now eating that stuff, why not detox yourself all over so you don't. Were so early out and our tool is waiting for us to properly use it. Thank God it's at the beginning b/c I hear after several months of the "honeymoon stage" weight loss slows down.

    Approved :)

I am so happy for you! I remember that feeling well!!!!! Now it is a entire new ballgame.
  18. I would say your job is more physical than being at a desk. I actually know where your coming from for have been in a similar position. I wait tables now at a busy restaurant and clean houses. I am taking off 4-6 weeks. I am 2 weeks out today and doing very well but can not imagine going back to work. It strange, in my case I would say that I am recovering with none to few issues, but the lack in calories and the walking has brought me to a new place of fatique, that I was not experiencing last week as much. Also consider, your in an offiice, temperture controlled, then up and down in either a really hot warehouse or very cold. It is tolling on you. If you can take more than do it. About what to say... I have not shared this with anyone but one person also (at the restaurant) I told my boss I had female issues and had to have surgery. When you put it like that most (especially men) rather not get into it. As far as my cleaning job I have well.... I hate to say it but I think I am going to lie and say that I had a full hysterectomy. She went through a partial one with me a few years ago and was considerate of how I felt but she is also judgemental and do not want to hear everytime I go to work about why would I do this and my loose skin.lol. She is tall, slender and never overeat in her life. So I hope this helps. I only can say if you can go back and they are really supportive that you might not be able to do the in and out and any kind of lifting then I would say then atleast 2weeks.
  19. I just came back from MX. Dr. Kelly was my surgeon and Trish was my coordinatoe. Both were excellent. The price includes everything except airfare and meals , if you bring a friend along. It covers all the test, hotel, transporatation from and to the airport, except for tip, if you want. Just for the record, my understanding. You do not pay this hefty fee to the coordinator, she does not jack the price up. I found with my experience that it would be the same price with or without a coordinator. It was $5500.00. Also, I liked the fact that Trish is in Tijauna, not a voice over the telephone. She treats you well and you feel like your on a mini vacation. They both check on you everyday, every step of the way. I must say, I felt very very comfortable with Dr. Kelly as well. With or without your in excellent hands.
  20. I was sleeved on Feb 4th. , so that makes me 12 days out. I started a full liquid diet 2 weeks pre op then swithed to full liquids about 1 week preop. I have not has any bowel movement since a week before surgery (the start of clear liquids). I came home from MX. I am doing wonderful. I just started full liquids 2 days ago, which really only have consisted of clears and creamed pureed soup, about a cup a day, also protein shakes and protein added to other clear liquids. My question is, should I of had a bowel movement by now? I do not feel constipated but am becoming somewhat achey. I was prone to getting constipated whenever I went on a diet in the past. Also, I am concerned with what I take considering I am not even 2 weeks out from surgery yet. I am afraid to take anything because of my new stomach healing. If something is recommended anyone no anything mild on the stomach? I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thank you!
  21. You were a buetiful girl anyway (bet you always got that "but you have a pretty face talk") but now you are a knock out and you do not even look like the same person. Amazing. You look wonderful!!!

    Tmi Question

Hi Kelly, Do you think a swig or two of coffee will hurt my stomach this early out? That always helped me in the past.

    Feeling Frustrated

Hi, I am 12 days out, right behind you. My ticker does not show it for I want to update it monthly but I also am down 28 lbs. lol. I hear you about the food. I just started full liquids and it has been a big struggle. I go to eat a Soup , take a sip and do not want it. I am watching Paula Deen and Diners,,Drive ins and whatever it is. While I sit there and say man I wish I seen that before. I think that it is part of the process. Even if we did indulge we would soon learned that we really can't. I must say I really have not been that hungry but think of all the food I will miss out on now. I know that sounds piggish and horrible. I also know that it would of taken me 4 months to lose 28lbs on a good diet try. I also know that I did not put myself and my husband and our bank account through this for nothing. I can not tell you I know how healthy or skinny feels but I know I will like it more than eating my way into XXXX large clothing. Remind yourself why you did it, focus on that. Your really doing very well and THIS TO WILL PASS. Remind yourself of that it is only for a season. YOU GOT ThIS!!!! :
