  1. I know I am a little late responding, but I had this very same thing happen with the waking up choking and barely able to drink Water. I went to my doctor and it was a slip. I had to have all the Fluid taken out.

  2. Back story: I've had my band for 5 years. I just had a baby in November. Towards the end of the pregnancy I had a lot of restriction and really bad heart burn and acid reflux.

Since delivery the acid reflux has not gone away. Some days are worse than others. Water even sits in my throat most of the time. I have woken up in the middle of the night choking on acid/fluid and started vomiting. I pop tums all day long and take zantac at night.

Have any of you experienced something like this? If so..what was it and what did you do?

I know I have to make an appt but I don't want tests or medication to interfere with nursing for right now ..so I'm trying to hold off

  3. Just had a baby...I kept my Fluid in the whole time...near the end I had some issues with restriction and pain so I ate a lot of soft stuff...also had terrible acid reflux that has not gone away...going to see a Dr soon about that...but over all it can be done...I even lost 20 lbs while preg...they just monitored the baby..meaning more ultrasounds to make sure he was growing the way he was supposed to

  4. Hi everyone! I'm new here! I had a lap band done about 5 years ago. At first everything was great! The band was working, and I never had any problems with it! I occasionally got stuck, but I was always able to move the blockage by walking and or drinking something.

Anyways, about 3 years ago I woke up very ill. I was vomiting pretty badly. Turns out my gallbladder had to go. I had the necessary surgical procedure and it was removed. Ever since then it has been terrible.

Since then I've had random stomach aches, acid reflux, and nausea. Through patience, ginger tea, tums, and crackers I was able to deal with it. Then everything got bad. The reflux was bad. I couldn't eat anything except snicker bars. (I know that's insane, but it's true!) I went to a gastroenterologist, and she prescribed me dexilant. I was skeptical, but desperate and it was like a miracle. My stomach aches, nausea and reflux were totally gone! I could eat anything I wanted. This blissful time went on for about 2 years.

Fast forward to about a month ago and things go bad again. I was regularly taking my dexilant but I was getting terrible reflux. I couldn't even digest BROTH! chicken BROTH!!! So I got fed up and went to my bariatric doctor. He said it was time for the band to go and I was not alone. I felt so much better hearing that from him! He said my symptoms would almost immediately go away! I was so ready to get this thing out of me!!!

So I had my band removed about a week ago. February 9, 2015 to be exact. The doctor said my body reacted negatively to having a foreign object in it and my stomach somehow made it like I had two lap bands?

I have been trying my hardest to take it easy but the reflux is nowhere near gone! It's the same as before the surgery. I called the nurse and she said to take the dexilant until my tummy heals and then wean myself off of it. I am devastated. I was hoping to see at least a little relief, but that hasn't happened yet. So I sit here praying that my dexilant kicks in soon so maybe I can get some relief and eat maybe some applesauce. I haven't had solid food in a month and it's starting to take a toll on my emotional health.

Does anyone have any advice for me? Is this normal? Will I have acid reflux for the rest of my life? Will I have to take dexilant for the rest of my days?

I'm only 23, and I look forward to having children in the next couple years, but currently there is no way that can happen in my current condition. I'm scared, hungry, nauseas and depressed.

I AM SUFFERING WITH ACID REFLUX... I recently had a baby and thought it was just a pregnancy thing. Well...no...water is even giving me trouble...once I am done nursing I will be going to the doc...I feel your pain

  5. just wondering to anyone who has the lap band if you have gone through pregnancy how was it with the lap band? I am terrified for the future when I'm ready to have a baby about having my lap band in. I'm mostly scared about my port because it's placed near my upper abs. I keep thinking how painful it will be when my stomach grows bigger and if the port site will hurt or cause a problem.

I just had a baby in November..I've had the band for 5 years now...pregnancy was fine...as my belly grew I had more restriction...I never removed any Fluid...I did have some pain on my left side late in pregnancy after eating dense foods...so I ate a lot of soft stuff..my port area did get sore near the end and really stuck out but not unbearable. ..however I did suffer bad heart burn and acid reflux that I'm still suffering with

  6. Hello,

I got the band 3 years ago...and I just feel hungry...I eat I guess what fills my pouch but I still feel the underlying hunger...so I basically have to wait for that food to pass and then I fill the pouch again to try to get rid of the hunger.....I'm considering the sleeve but please tell me DO YOU ACTUALLY FEEL FULL??? LIKE THE FULL YOU FELT BEFORE THE SURGERY AFTER YOU EAT JUST YOUR LITTLE PORTION? I am struggling with this. Please share.

  7. Hello,

I have had the band for 3 years now...I know it's supposed to restrict how much food I eat..but does anyone still feel hungry but physically can't eat anymore because their pouch is full and if you put anymore in, it's just going to come up??? I find myself eating some...waiting...and then eating more..because I still have the underlying hunger feeling...Help!!! Anyone feel the same??
