Home Thread...for the thread homeless :)

My DH and I saw them about 5 years ago at the Beau Rivage Casino and it was an incredible show. I would love to see them again, but my son (15) loves them and has never seen them. Since they are breaking up and Josh's birthday is June 5th, this is kind of like a birthday present. The two day ticket thing worked out well for us. Daughter loves Urban and Swift, and son loves B & D and Chesney we all like. Yeah, the rain thing sucks. The hour-by-hour breakdown shows sunshine all day until 6. What time does Urban start singing?....6:20! Doesn't that just suck?! Suzie, keep us updated about your surgery and I am glad you got a good night's sleep last night.

Newly single and just dont get it!!

I am sorry about your situation and the stress you are feeling. Realize that this really probably had very little to do with you and more about his own insecurities. That is something you really don't have much control over. Now, with the kids and money. It sucks that you are now living in an apartment with the kids, I am assuming that could not be avoided. Make a plan to deal with the stress in a healthy way now, so you don't turn to junk food. Take the kids to the park to play and get some exercise. Take walks and enjoy being outdoors, if possible. Find something you can find joy in that will help you reduce your stress levels. One of the best types of employment, not technically full time, that you could get is to be a substitute at your child's school. This is, of course, dependent on when your youngest starts preK or K. You work on the days you want to and the pay isn't bad in most places. If it is something you are interested in, call the school board and find out the requirements and if any classes are necessary. That way, you are ready to go when school begins next year. Get your name added to your child's school and other schools close to you, and let them know you are available and interested. Good, steady subs that show up for work are scarce in most places. My school has a list of 10 that we call all the time. This is a big change for all of you. I hope all goes well.

Well, Alex is home, finally, and she was super excited when I reminded her that tomorrow is the Bayou Country Superfest! We will see Taylor Swift and Keith Urban, and Sunday my son and husband are seeing Brooks and Dunn and Kenny Chesney. It should be a great show. Hopefully, it won't rain on us. It doesn't rain here for two months and it has been raining a little here and there for a week and a half. When is it going to rain in the next 10 days?! ONLY TOMORROW AND SUNDAY!!!! UGH! Hopefully we won't get too wet and the show should be worth it. Did I mention that I am glad my baby is home?

Kat: I am teaching math only. I am there 7 hours per day with 6 of them being active teaching time. I have to be there at 7:25 and it is a 50 mile drive that takes 1 hr 15 min. to get there. Not fun, but the money is good, so I am there.

    Am I a lair?

This is why I don't keep it a secret. Someone I worked with was banded and didn't tell. When my friend and I would ask what she was doing she would coyly smile and say I am just eating less and working out a little. Technically true, but it did make me feel like a failure, because I couldn't do that. And let's be honest...none of us were able to take it off and KEEP it off before this, or we wouldn't have been banded. But, it is a personal decision whether or not to tell and the only reason I do tell, is that I feel it may help someone else who needs it. Also, I am 42, and couldn't possibly care any less what other people think. I have a good support system at home and that is all that matters. Oh, and we found out that the person at work was banded, because she told one person, who told one person,..you get the picture. If you really don't want people to know, then tell no one except immediate family and even that could be a crap shoot.
  6. My favorites are the ones you listed, minus the wine...I don't like wine at all.

Tracy: I thought Mike looked amazing, but I thought his choice of clothing was a little off. I hear everyone posting about Kholi and his attitude. I think Kholi had every right to be cocky about what he had done and it seems to be a cultural thing. Remember the cousins a couple of seasons back? I loved them and the way they were boisterous. It sucks for Kholi, because by America not voting for him, it cost him the extra 150K he would've won by beating Mike. Summer school is 14 days total: 2 planning, 9 teaching and 3 testing. It pays REALLY well, so I am glad to do it. It is extremely competitive, but some of the veteran teachers didn't want to do it this year, because supervisors did observations last year during summer school. My thinking is, if I am doing my job, it doesn't matter if they come and observe. ALEX COMES HOME TODAY!!! I miss her so much. It sounds like she had an amazing time. She said WICKED is the best! It gave her chills and actually made her cry during one of the songs. She is ready to come home, though, she misses us all, and most of all, she is almost out of money.
  8. I was banded July 14, 2008, two fills, and no problems so far.

Well, summer school planning went ok. I knew going in, that my partner teacher and I were going to get screwed in the deal, since it is teaching kids that aren't from our school. They did (the coordinating teachers), in fact, think they were screwing us. They gave us the very lowest of the kids. Literally, they ordered them from highest to lowest and gave us the ones from the bottom. My partner teacher and I talked with the SPED teachers that will be in the room with us and let them know that we were fine with it. We rock and we do our jobs well. This way, when the kids make progress, and they will, we will look awesome. I had special ed kids all year long and did amazing things with them. Ok, now I am finished giving myself a pep talk. How was y'all's day? Oh, and I think it is time for a little fill. We went to Wendy's for lunch and I ordered a small chili and a sour cream and chive baked potato and I ate it all:scared2:

Suzie, you have every right to complain and nothing you said offended me. I really do wish you would let them try to deal with their problems themselves, at least for now. You MUST take care of yourself. Come vent here. Venting is healthy and it helps us to feel a little better sometimes. Angela: love the donut comment! Kids are so funny. Kat: that is great news about your MIL..you are ALSO someone who needs to put herself first, dangit. Reading all this brought back a memory from high school. I was the one everyone turned to if they had a problem. I was a good listener and gave good advice. One night I realized that I had problems, too, damnit, and I had NO ONE I could talk to about it. It sucked! I was too busy saving everyone else to realize that I had issues building up. Dang, I may have just saved myself some money on therapy. Thanks, y'all. This has helped me stop and think.

    Amusement Park

My family and I went to Universal Studios during Thanksgiving and I was 16 months post op. I rode a LOT of rides, but the thing that hurt my band was the freaking Jimmy Neutron ride. It is a simulator ride that involved a lot of bouncing up and down like on a really bumpy road. It just goes to show, that the weirdest things can give you problems. I hurt for two days from that ride. I found out during a field trip this year, that I also don't do well in the back of a school bus. It is just too bumpy. So, ask your surgeon to be certain, but you will probably get clearance. Have fun!

    July Butterflies Master Thread

1day, I am sorry you are under so much stress at work. I know that it makes going to work everyday difficult. I was under an extreme amount of stress a few months ago when a new student who was violent came to my class. He actually came after me with the intent to harm me. So, I started going to the gym. I had to, because if it took medication to go to my job everyday, I would've had to switch jobs. Working out actually helped, it was the actually getting to the gym every night that was difficult. I stopped going once he was no longer in my class, because I am STUPID! I hope you find a way to deal with the stress before it gets to you too much.

Kat, I hope that your MIL's diagnosis is good, and I agree about the FIL. My FIL has had numerous procedures and had to be catheterized many times over about a 3 month period. He just recently started doing better. I hope they get it all straight soon for your FIL. Michelle, good luck with the job. That sounds like fun. As far as the BP spill, it is just sad for me. My uncle has a shrimp boat and my husband's uncle is part owner of a seafood company on the coast. It is a real bad time. I hope they figure this out soon. The loss of livliehood for many down here and the devastating effect it is having on our marine animals and coastline is hard to rebound from. I realized this morning I need a small fill. I ate almost an entire bacon egg and cheese sandwich on whole wheat toast! I should've stopped at half of it, but I didn't  A tiny fill should kick me in my butt. I am due, anyway. I haven't had a fill since November '08. My daughter is on a plane on the way to New York for her senior trip. She is going with a supervised school group, so I know she is safe, but I have NEVER been apart from her for a week. I think 4 days is the longest and that was just this year. OMG, I have a problem:crying:. I know she will have a great time, though. The trip is 7 days and packed with tours and activities, including seeing Wicked! Oh, I found out I do get to work summer school. I didn't really WANT to work, but I need the money. I will work it this year to help try to get another car, and if I work next year, it will be tummy tuck money. oh, and 1 more day of school with kids!! Then, of course, two days later I start planning for summer school.
  19. If you listen to your band, and take your cues from it, you may be able to eat your favorite foods again, just a lot less of them. It will depend on you and how tight you need you band to be to lose and then maintain your weight. I would, however, stay away from your favorite foods for a few months. Wait to try them at least until a couple of weeks after your first fill. You don't want the temptation while you are completely unrestricted. Be aware, however, while you are at good restriction the sandwich may not work for you. It is simply a trial and error kind of thing. I do not keep my band tight, so I enjoy all of the foods I used to eat. I just eat about 1/3 of what I did prior to banding. My band does exactly as I hoped it would. It helps me to be satisfied with less food. It is at the right restriction to help me, but not have control over me. Good luck!

I watched dwts and I must say that Miley's performance made me slightly sick. It disgusts me how, at age 17, her parents don't seem to have a problem with her singing about not being tamed and parading around in outfits like that. I believe it was last year she was dancing on a stripper pole at an awards show at the age of 16. This makes me sad. On a better note, the correct person went home and I can't wait for the finale next week. The only thing I HATE about Tuesday night's is that I have DWTS, Biggest Loser and GLEE that are on at the same time!!!:w00t: I missed who was voted off on biggest loser. Anyone want to help me out so I will know when I get up in the morning?

Help! My pants are too big!

If you know anyone at all with a sewing machine, they can dart up the waist at the back of the waistband. It will make a huge difference in how the pants fit. If you can't find someone, just call around and see how much it costs to have them altered. Sometimes you can get this done for less than $10 and it will help you get some more use out of them without them exposing you when they fall off.

    Help!!!

Try to keep some healthy snacks on hand for when you are hungry between meals. Yogurt, string cheese (or laughing cow cheese), fruit, whatever that won't kill your eating plan and can help you get to the next meal. I understand the grazing, you think, "I will just eat a bite, and the bite turns to another one..." Plan on having and then EAT the snack and it may help. It sucks being hungry between fills, but you can do this!

Should I go to the ER?

I hope you have heard from your dr by now, but it sounds like you will need medical attention. Since you probably aren't dehydrated yet, I would wait to hear from your surgeon this morning. If you were dehydrated, I would head to the ER to get fluids, but anything other than that, and they can mess the band up worse if they don't know what they are doing? This probably occurred because of being restricted from swelling from surgery. The oatmeal you were eating? Was it thinned down? I am confused by the oatmeal at 4 days post op. My surgeon had a lenient post op diet and I was still on fluids for 7 days. I hope you get some answers from your doc soon. Please update when you get a chance.
