  1. I had my first fill on Aug. 20th. I went in expecting it to hurt. It was completely painless. The PA poked around to find my port, wiped my belly with alcohol, I put my arms over my head and looked at the ceiling. Then she stuck me, and put the fill in. I didn't feel the "stick" at all. She only put 2ccs in and it felt "weird". I sat up and she gave me Water to drink. It wouldn't go all the way down, so she had to stick me again to do an unfill. She took 1 cc out and left 1cc in. The ONLY thing that hurt at all was when she pulled the dang band-aid off to do the unfill. I HATE band-aids. The fill, however, was completely painless.

    Hurricane Gustav

Yeah, the curfew is from 8pm until 6 am. That is fine with me. With most of city out of power, no one has business being out anyway. It isn't safe.

    Hurricane Gustav

We didn't leave this home and we secured as much as possible the house in the rural area. We are in a brick home here and the roof is damaged, but luckily no holes. We just have a very large tree uprooted in our front yard that is covering the road and sitting on the mailbox. Our entire wood fence is down. This wind was crazy.

Update: Baton Rouge got hit pretty hard. We aren't used to this. We had winds up to 90mph. I have an uprooted tree, 8 ft wooden fence down, and roof damage. I don't know how my house/property in the country is yet.

    question

PB, I think, refers to "productive burp". It is like vomiting, but without the stomach acid, so it's not quite as gross. It happens normally if you eat too fast, too much or don't chew enough. I think it is normally accompanied by lots of "slime", which is excess saliva you produced trying to "unstick" whatever is there.

    Wii Fit

Yes, it always comes with the wii sports. The extra for the bundle for Wii fit might include the yoga mat, but I'm not sure.

    Wii Fit

Yes, you can. A Wii comes with a sports game and controllers ($249). Then, you can purchase the Wii Fit for around $89.

    Hurricane Gustav

Thank you! We are bracing ourselves right now. We are just feeling the effects from the wind. They think Baton Rouge will get hit harder with this one more than Andrew, Katrina, Rita, or even Betsy. It is something about where it is making landfall that makes it worse for us than we have had before. Normally it isn't too bad here, because we are far enough inland. Thanks again for the kind thoughts.

    BAD BREATH? lol

It is probably from the diet, especially if you are consuming very low carbs. This puts you in ketosis and you will emit a smell from your breath. This is from burning the fat/losing weight. Sorry, but at least you are losing weight. It should go away after surgery around the time you can have mushies. You will probably begin consuming more carbs.

    3 Days Post-Op

Congratulations on your surgery! I was told I HAD to consume 60-80g of protein each day. The first week they had to be clear. I chose the New Whey protein bullets (42g). I bought them at GNC. They are only 3 oz of fluid, so they are easy to get down. If you think they are too thick, then mix them with sugar free kool aid. You are still supposed to consume some calories. I may have gained weight at first, I don't know. I didn't have a scale, but at day 11 at my post op visit I had lost 15 lbs. Please start getting the protein calories in you so you don't get too weak.
  17. Here it is. It is a subscribed thread of mine since I posted my story. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f178/surgery-day-stories-64287/
  18. I know, Mamacj, that's crazy, huh?! They just used the weight I gave them when I filled in my paperwork prior to the appt. It isn't normal. They were stunned that they had not weighed me themselves. Luckily, I didn't lie (probably the first time in my life). My friend has the same surgeon and had surgery two weeks before me and they definitely weighed her.

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

Well, I weighed this morning and I am down 29 lbs in 6 weeks and 2 SIZES SMALLER IN MY BLUE JEANS!!!! Can you tell I care more about my size than the weight loss?!

    New B...andster!

To be honest, Ashleigh, you aren't eating nearly enough food. I eat about a cup of food 3 times a day and drink skim milk between meals. You should be consuming between 1000-1200 calories a day. Your body probably thinks you are starving it and it has adjusted to almost no calories. If you start eating more, your metabolism will speed up. Check into it. Good Luck!

    Fired after approval

Anything preapproved should be covered. Yes, the COBRA payments will be high, but worth it. See if they can move your surgery up as soon as possible. You are off work anyway and it will give you recovery time before you owe another month of COBRA premiums. Do what you need to do to make sure they get the payment. If you mail it, send it certified or pay it with a credit card. That way, you have proof they received it. The insurance company would love to get out of paying for that surgery. Good Luck!

    July Butterflies Master Thread

AMEN!!!! You are better than me in the exercise dept. I have to get off my butt and exercise more. I just started a new teaching job in a brand new school and it is draining me!!!! I love it, but I am TIRED!!!

    Relief!

I was surprised too. The day before I couldn't eat past 10 am. I think he may require more from people if they carry more weight around the mid section or if they are heavier than me. Although, I am quite the heavy! soooo.... all my weight loss is from surgery.

    Twoterville

Marie, your meals sound alot like mine during that stage. Now, I eat about a cup of food at each meal. Sometimes I can only eat a half cup of Soup before I am full. It varies. How do you eat your chicken? I have to chew, chew, chew, and still feel like it may stick. Luckily it hasn't yet.

Hello, I checked out your post and wanted to let you know you are doing great . Everyone is different. Most surgeons will tell you that many people don't lost any significant weight (some gain) until they begin fills and have restriction. Please concentrate on healing right now and just try not to eat more than they suggest or foods that aren't allowed.
