Nice Job! I may never hit that 100 mark if my big butt doesn't exercise AGAIN!

Chili's Southwest Egg Rolls - 18319 - Recipezaar Don't let the directions overwhelm you, it really doesn't take long. I used the 7" flour tortillas tonight, but I am going to make more tomorrow night with the mission carb-control tortillas. I used the reduced-fat mexican blend cheese, because my Target didn't have the regular monterey jack. To bake them, I had the oven on 400 and I think it was about 20 minutes. Just watch until they start to brown. I sprayed the cookie sheet and the top of the southwest egg rolls with butter flavored Pam. They are spicy, so you may want to decrease the jalepenos by a little bit if you don't like firey foods. I like them that spicy, but you may not. Although I love the chili's dipping sauce, I refused to take a relatively healthy meal and dip it in fat to eat it, so I used ff sour cream, half a pack of ranch dressing mix, about a 1/2 tsp of chili powder and then skim milk until the consistency was right. I used my hand blender (the wand looking thing) to blend it. My daughter is so excited that we can make these at home now. We order this all the time at Chilis and now we can eat them without the expense or the guilt over the calories! I will post tomorrow night and let you know how the carb-control tortillas work.

Kat: I am glad to hear you are already having fun! Enjoy SA. Michelle: glad hubby finally made it home. He must be exhausted. Oh and BK would love to have reliable and responsible adults. I am certain you will get the job. Suzie: you are amazing! I love your attitude. And yes, pain meds will put you in a funk. They had my dsd on them for her pain and she finally had to ask for something else. She just didn't like taking it everyday. I made southwest egg rolls tonight, like the ones from Chili's, and they were sooooo good. I found a copycat recipe and then modified it slightly to make it healthier. I sprayed them with pam and baked them instead of deep frying and I used reduced fat cheese. Also the dipping sauce was made with ff sour cream, skim milk, a little chili powder and a little ranch dressing mix. OMG, it was yummy. I made extra of the filling and I am going to try them tomorrow night with the carb control tortillas to see if they are still tasty. If anyone is interested, I can give you the link to find it.

Tracy, meeting up for lunch would be awesome! Where are y'all thinking about going?
  5. Please rethink this. If you don't need a fill and get one anyway, you will probably be too tight which CAN hurt.

Tracy, this sounds smart and correct, we may not be able to control alot but we can control what we put into our mouths, but I don't think I said it. I wish I would've, though:tongue2:. My daughter, who has put on 15 lbs with the current boyfriend, did say even though he bought the food for her, he didn't make her eat it. I am glad you are doing better. Well, sometimes things happen that go beyond my realm of comprehension. Things that I just can't fathom. My kids found out today, and it was on the news, that a sophomore at their school, who is also the son of their math teacher, violently and randomly attacked an 8 yr old boy. I don't understand what could happen to bring about these actions. A mom with her two sons were riding bikes in a nice neighborhood on a paved bike trail in the woods. The 8 yr old fell behind without the mom noticing and this kid just jumps out and starts stabbing him. I don't understand. I teach kids all day long and I never look at them and see this kind of propensity for violence, and I have taught some violent kids and you have heard this year about it, but to attack an innocent child half your age unprovoked? I feel bad for the victim's family and I feel bad for the alleged attacker's mom (my kids' teacher). People will ask why she didn't see this. Didn't she notice the signs? I think sometimes there may not be any sign, but my heart aches for her and the pain she is going through. The victim's family will receive sympathy, but I am afraid she may receive mostly judgements. My heart is heavy and I just don't get it. Please keep these families in your prayers.

Omg, I am sending more prayers for Tracy. It is actually a good thing that they are keeping her and making sure she is ok. I think sometimes they send women home too soon from the ER. Kat, it sounds like they are catching your MILs problem early. I will pray for her. Angela, Zach sounds like he is being really positive and that is the most important part of doing well in summer school. It sounds like he will be fine. Arrived at summer school today to see the custodian carrying off a rather large water moccasin. It was trying to get into the teacher's lounge. Hasn't this snake realized that the teacher's lounge isn't really all that exciting?! Then, I entered the cafeteria and it was REALLY hot. Well, I thought maybe there was a glitch overnight. NAH, that wasn't it. It seems the freaking air is BROKEN!!! So, when we entered the cafeteria, that they baked and cooked in without air, you can imagine how hot is was. OMG, it was 97 outside with a heat index of 106! I felt so bad for the cafeteria workers, because I was miserable sitting there for 20 minutes trying to eat with the kids. Oh, and what did I bring for lunch?! Soup! Freaking soup, in this heat. I am such a moron! Ok, through with my rant.

Suzie, thanks for the post and please keep us updated on Tracy.
  11. My lap band surgery was the first surgery I had ever had and I was terrified, like you are now. It was easy. My recovery was easy enough. I was sore for about a week, but it was more than worth it. I have had no complications and would do it again in a minute. It is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

    Is pizza gone forever?

I normally now eat thin crust pizza, but I have had regular hand-tossed. The hand-tossed I have to be a little more careful with. The difference is now I eat one of two slices of a small, 10 inch pizza instead of 3 or 4 from a large.

Welcome, Terri:rapture: Angela, I will keep your son in my prayers. As a teacher, I also hate high-stakes standardized testing. My feeling is, if you aren't going to make each year important, don't just pin-point certain grades. It puts too much stress on our children. You are correct, however, that this will help him be prepared for next year, IF they pinpoint just his weaknesses and fix those. Will Zach be properly recovered from surgery when summer school begins? You will both stay in my prayers. Michelle, you needed that rest. For the next couple of weeks, you will continue to be recovering. Take those naps when the urge hits you!!! Kat, I am glad you decided to go, but just for the day. I agree that it will send a more powerful message than just not showing up. I hope you both have a wonderful time during your trip. Tracy, I am sending internet hugs. Suzie, I hope work goes well this morning. Your appointments are today? Yesterday morning I was reminded that scrambled eggs are the work of the devil. My dh cooked bacon, eggs and smothered potatoes for breakfast. I ate two strips of bacon, no problem. I ate LESS than one scrambled egg, then proceeded to pb for over 2 hours!!! I was so mad. We were going to my in-laws to see my stepdaughter and grandchildren. Lunch was bbq sandwiches from Hi-Ho. These are soooo good. Could I eat any? NO. I was downing liquid ibuprofen and then made black bean soup to eat for the next 2 days . Oh, well, maybe it is the sign that I needed to jump start my weight loss with a few days of liquids. Dangit. But, my stepdaugter and her family are moving closer, so that was good news. She seems to be doing much better with her health, so all is good:thumbup:. I am going to get dressed for summer school:unsure: Have a good Monday, everyone!

    People who don't undersand

Most people who choose to be banded don't have problems LOSING weight, we have had problems in the past KEEPING IT OFF!! This is where the band has made a difference in my life. Heck, I figure I have lost the equivalent of a couple of Sumo wrestlers over the past 15 years, yet I was overweight!!! I don't have people question me about it, but if they did, that is the response I would give.

    Ice Cream

It IS because of ice cream in the title, that is an amazing fish you caught, and move on, the flurry won't kill you. Heck, I still eat ice cream, I just eat about 1/3 what I did before banding. I eat pizza, but I eat 1 slice of thin crust instead of 3 regular...You get the picture. I got my band to help me control my portions, and to be satisfied with the smaller portions, not to dictate what I put in my mouth every moment of the day.

Kat: CONGRATULATIONS on it going smoothly and being behind you now!!! I know if must feel very good. Well, today is the first day of summer school with the kids. I only have 12, but 8 of them are special ed and all of them made the lowest score on the test. I plan on keeping them in small groups most of the time, so hopefully it will go well today. Have a good day all!
  19. I am very seldom extremely hot/sweaty anymore. This past weekend we attended the Bayou Country Superfest in Tiger Stadium (outside). It was 92, and humid like it ALWAYS is in southern Louisiana. I was hot, but not nearly as sweaty as my 130 lb 18 year old daughter. 2 years ago, I probably wouldn't even have gone to the concert. The heat would have been unbearable. I also now complain about being cold at night when I used to sweat.

Arlene, you are a much better bandster than I am. I have become complacent in my weight loss efforts. I am too comfortable and seem to be ok that I have been plateaued for-e-ver. I am not near goal, although I am happy with my weightloss so far, I am doing NOTHING to jumpstart my weightloss efforts. I am disappointed in myself and must change, but I am too blah to do it. I realized recently that in the last year I have only lost 15 lbs. THAT is unacceptable. I am going to call my surgeon's office and see about getting a fill. I haven't had one since Nov '08. Hopefully they can get me in for a small fill soon. I may, however, have to wait until July when summer school is over. Ok, I didn't mean to go on and on about my self "loathing". Lotza, I am sorry about your leak. It is good that your surgeon is going to go ahead and replace it. Good luck!

Heard an update from my hubby...only half of Tiger Stadium got rain, luckily for them, it was the other half. Meanwhile, about 7 miles away, my daughter and I were caught driving when quarter and nickel sized hail started falling. I quickly pulled into a bank and sat under the drive thru lane with 3 other cars until it passed. I was some scary stuff.

Angela: glad the turdy neighbor stepped up Kat: I am with you on the sore feet. We walked all over the LSU campus yesterday. I was in Skecher sandals, which are comfortable, but when walking in the heat all day, leave you with sore feet:unsure: Tracy: DH and I dealt with his ex and child support. Paying the child support wasn't the problem. We had a HUGE problem sending the support to her when his daughter was living with the grandmother. Big, long story, but she wouldn't allow us to raise her, but allowed her to go to the grandmother. The grandmother never saw a dime of the money that we still had to send her. She said if we raised a stink over it, she would make my stepdaughter go back and live with her. We knew that her living with her grandmother was a LOT better than having to return home to the mom, so we let it go. We wanted custody, but Erica was afraid of her mom and her mother told her if she came to live with us she would make her, and our lives, a living hell. The minute she turned 18, though, she did come to live with us and she has very little contact with her mom now. Oh, and it isn't really that busy at midnight movies. Only die-hard fans go, and they usually have the movie showing on 3 or 4 screens. I have seen the Harry Potter and Twilight midnights to show on 8 screens. Well, we did get rained on at the Country Superfest yesterday, but it wasn't too bad and it was totally worth it. OMG, Keith Urban was fantastic. He came out in a tight LSU t-shirt and looked amazing. He played for over an hour and a half. He ran into the crowd and really played it up. It was great. Taylor Swift sounded great, but I wasn't entirely entertained by her show. She made too many costume changes, at least 6, maybe 7 and that was huge time waster, to me. It was cool, though, that after one of the many changes, the spotlight came back on and she was standing in the middle of one of the 300 sections in the middle of the crowd and sang "hey stephen" from there. BUT, this led to a 10 minute walk to the center stage...just long drags of time. My hubby and son are going today for Chesney and Brooks and Dunn. I fully expect that concert to be ever better than last night's!!!

    Diet Progression

I had the cream of chicken Soup that I diluted with skim milk instead of Water. Then, I added a little sage, pepper and garlic powder. It was so good that my 16 year old took some to work to eat for lunch.

Nope, you are not wrong at all. Oh, and Shrek Forever After is pretty good. I took the kids to see it at midnight when it opened. We are REALLY into the midnight movies. I will be at the theater at midnight for Toy Story 3, that is for sure!!!
