list of food you can't eat post-op??
crzytchr replied to StephOnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
chicken gives me a problem if it is overcooked. Bread gives me a problem, yet I eat about 3/4 of a chicken biscuit most mornings for Breakfast. Whole wheat Pasta is no problem for me. I can have rice that isn't sticky. I ate jambalaya last night!! Yummy!! Oh, and stringy beef isn't too great. It is a hit or miss whether or not I can eat it. The moment I feel it give me problems, I stop eating it. -
My body has finally figured out, it can let go of the fat!!!!
crzytchr replied to coloradobanding's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your body responding to all of your hard work!!! You deserve it. Have a wonderful time at Disney and post some pics after the trip. It can be before and halfway pics! -
I don't take a lot of meds, just supplements and Vitamins, so I wouldn't realize if they were sitting there. Be careful and ask you pharmacist before you crush the ambien or anything else. CONGRATULATIONS on all of your success!!!! Have you posted before and after pics? You are certainly an inspiration to me.

Congratulations! I don't know if I will ever get out of the W stage. I will be satisfied with a 14/16 W. I am an 18/20 now. Anything past the 14/16 will be a bonus for me. I started as a tight 26/28!

10 days liquids/10 days mushies?
crzytchr replied to ebar822's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, what Restless said. All are different. Mine required 7 days of liquids, then on day 8 I was allowed a soft scrambled egg. Just be thankful and enjoy your full liquids. Life is good! -
8 days after surgery, still feeling pain...
crzytchr replied to dert's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was really sore for a while, and didn't bounce back as well as most seem to do, but I didn't run out of pain meds. My port site stayed swollen for a while and tender. Heck, it is still tender at times. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I think they stitch the port to a muscle to keep it in place. That is probably why it still hurts you. But honestly, if it still hurts you enough to need pain meds, you either have a really low tolerance for pain or something may be wrong. I would definitely call the surgeon's office if you are in enough pain to require something stronger than aleve. -
It is to keep track and show progress on different goal/challenges. One is for my weight loss since banding, another for my goal for my one year mark and I am participating in a challenge.

Tough Times in Memphis
crzytchr replied to patrickgd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on the restraint. I found that if I stopped after the recommended amount, I was actually satisfied. The cream of chicken soup is amazingly good. I mixed my with skim milk instead of water and added a little sage, pepper and garlic powder. Also if it is cold you can make yourself some homemade hot chocolate with skim milk, splenda and cocoa powder. SF dark chocolate pudding still saves me from over eating. I usually eat one each night around 9 to keep me from wanting to eat food late at night. Good luck, and remember, it keeps getting a little easier every day. -
I think it all depends on the snack. I eat about 4 times a day and have a non fat mocha. I log all of my calories each day and stay between 1200-1500. It depends on what you are eating. My snack is a 100 calorie pb choc chip chewy bar. Also, being a teacher, I don't have much time for lunch so I eat a Campbells soup-at-hand. That means my lunch and snack together are less than 200 calories. It just depends on if the snack is pushing your food intake for the day up too much. I think that a resonable snack is much better than eating too much dinner. Eating too much can lead to problems. I try really hard not to let myself get too hungry. What kinds of foods are you snacking on?

Tough Times in Memphis
crzytchr replied to patrickgd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not in the Memphis area, sorry about that, but I will tell you it gets better. As soon as you start full liquids you begin to feel a little more normal. I too wanted to scream on the clear liquid phase. Luckily it doesn't last long. When are you allowed to start full liquids? As for the pain in your chest, they say walking helps the most to move the gas out quickly. -
It sounds like the gallbladder surgery irritated you stomach and made it swell. My hysterectomy did the same thing to me. Then, not being able to keep your dinner down was perpetuating the problem, so the swelling never went down. I am glad you had the partial unfill done. That will help you and after a month you can start slowly with your fills again. Good luck.

Lori, it could be any number of things. If you are logging your food, what is it saying your calorie intake is? If you are working out 3-5 days per week at a high intensity, you may not be eating enough. It looks like you may be consuming less than 1000 per day and that isn't nearly enough for that kind of activity level. You may want to add a couple of Snacks and try to get up to 1200-1500 per day and see if that starts you weight loss again. Try it for a week. Your body may think you are starving it and holding on to everything you have. Oh, and I know it is difficult, but try to increase that Fluid level also. You body will also retain fluid if you aren't consuming enough liquids. -
Anyone try vibration therapy - amazing!
crzytchr replied to cookiebaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't tried it, but after your post I was intrigued. I read up a little on it and it sounds interesting. It does claim to help with bone density as well as muscle tone, coordination and weight loss. I don't know of any place near me offering it. Please post back if you continue to use it and get results. -

Banded in July 08 and have only lost 10 pounds!! HELP!
crzytchr replied to Dee66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with a previous poster, you sound a little too tight. Sometimes just a small unfill will make all the difference. Also, you may want to make sure you eat at least a 1000 calories a day. I try to stay 1200-1500. It varies. If you stay below 1000, your body will think you are starving it. -
My words of comfort are that neither of my two fills hurt at all. I suggest that you not look at the needle and all should be fine.
-
Exercise will make a difference, but also examine what you are eating. I notice you used the word "stuck". Are you possibly eating slider foods because eating protein gets stuck easily? If so, you may be a little too tight. Log what you eat everyday for a few days and notice how each of the foods make you feel. Does protein like chicken go down easily enough if you chew it well, or are you avoiding it because it gets stuck easily?
