    July Butterflies Master Thread

Lovesgrapes, keep us posted on the endoscopy. Congratulations on the new suit! That must've felt amazing. Go and ace that interview!
  2. What kind of mushy/pureed meal are you eating? I focused on higher Protein meals. I used my food processor to puree: chicken salad, chili, and tuna salad. I also ate refried Beans with ff sour cream and cheddar cheese. If you eat higher protein content foods, it may curb your hunger. Fix only the amount you are supposed to eat. Chew it, even though it is pureed, and eat it slowly. See if that helps satiate your hunger. Whatever you do, try to eat the recommended amounts for now, even if it means you must eat every 3 hours instead of 4-5. You don't want to begin your lapband journey stretching your pouch. I eat about a cup of food or a little more somtimes now per meal, but I am 8 months post op.

    How is your port?

I can feel mine. I just asked my hubby and he said it doesn't bother him.
  4. I do not track my carbs. I do make sure I eat at LEAST 60 grams of protein per day. Other than that, I don't restrict myself. My thinking is that I did this so it wouldn't feel like a diet, and it doesn't. I am almost never hungry and have lost 78 lbs. As I said in my previous post I eat 1200-1500 per day. I do know that you will probably lose your weight faster if you eat fewer carbs, I am just not willing to feel like I am on Atkins again.

    weight loss

I lost 35 lbs from the day of surgery to 2 months post op.
  6. Damomb, it really sounds like you are too tight. You may need a little taken out. They won't do a fill until 4/20, but will they see you for an unfill. If you are getting stuck and can't consume the correct amount of calories, you definitely don't need another fill.

Is it possible to eat too little

I agree with the previous posters. Your body is probably in starvation mode. Try journaling your food intake for a few days to get an accurate count. If you are active I would think you shouldn't be under 1000 per day. I stay between 1200-1500 per day. Why do you only drink coffee for breakfast? Are you just not hungry or are you too tight in the mornings? Consuming food for breakfast each morning will jump start your metabolism.
  8. Since 2 weeks post op I haven't gone but once under 1000. I try to stay 1200-1500 per day. I eat just about anything I want, just 1/3 of my preband amount. I don't miss anything. My weight loss isn't amazingly fast, but I am happy with it and I am still losing, although slowly now. I know that I need to add exercise to speed things up, but I am not doing it yet. (surgery and car wreck slowed the exercising down)
  9. If you pbed your brains out, you probably have some swelling. Stick to liquids if possible for a day. If it continues, call your doctor.
  10. Lasvegas and honey, yes it sounds like you both need a fill. Mini, if you can't swallow water or liquids, call you surgeon asap and get an unfill. You are too tight. If you continue while being tight it will only tighten more if you are pbing or sliming.
  11. OMG, I am so sorry. You definitely sound like you are too tight. I agree with restless, you really need to call an get an unfill. It doesn't have to be much. You may need less than 1cc taken out, but until you get a little less restriction you probably won't be able to eat healthy. You don't have to live like this. Once you can eat better you will probably begin to lose weight and feel a lot better about being banded.
  12. I also was in an accident on Valentine's Day, but I found I became too tight from the pain and stress. It is just now back to where I want it to be. Examine the foods and the amounts you are eating. Are you consuming more than you are supposed to or are they slider foods that don't get stuck? If you are just consuming too much of healthy foods, then I would probably go for a small fill to see if it helps. If you notice you are eating soft slider foods, then try to eat you proteins and see what happens. If you get stuck, go for a small unfill. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

    Hello

Welcom Becca. If you click on one of my tickers at the bottom you can go to the sight and make your own. At the end, after it is created, there will be some codes at the bottom. You need to copy the first code for forums. Then, go to your edit signature under the quick links at the top of this screen. There you can paste this in the box where you type your info. Hit preview and it should show up, hopefully. Good luck. Congratulations on your weight loss so far. You may want to find the main thread for the october 08 bandsters and post there to introduce yourself as well.
  15. I don't know if I am going to make my goal on that one, and it will be the first challenge I didn't hit my mark. Kinda sad....I am being a little more realistic with this one, I think. Hopefully, anyway.:rolleyes2:
  16. I am 8 months post op and I am about at 1 lb per week, but I am happy, because it is still losing. I had a plateau at month 6 for about 6 weeks where I lost nothing at all. I am glad that is over with and when I start exercising again, I will probably begin to lose faster.
  17. I don't have a google account, so I can't make the spreadsheet for us. Until someone does, let's just use the regular thing. Crimson, what is your goal weight for June 1? LB and Pregnancy = ??

My friend had a surprise pregnancy 7 months after being banded. She thought she could only get pregnant with fertility drugs, since that's what she had to do for her first two pregnancies. She found out all she had to do was lose some weight and she was no longer infertile. She hasn't had an unfill yet but she was told as soon as she can no longer consume 1800 calories per day she has to get a partial unfill.
  20. I know you say you don't eat anymore than anyone else, and I believe you. My 16 year old daughter with the perfect figure routinely ate twice what I did, but I was a blimp. What you should do, is begin tracking what and how much you eat and drink. Be honest. Use dailyplate.com or fitday.com to do it. Take a look at your calorie count for the day and where your calories are coming from. If you are consuming under 2000 calories a day already, I don't know if the lapband will help you. I did not eat more than anyone else, and much less than most, but now I realize I was consuming 2500-3000 each day. Not too much for an average male, but too much for a bascially moderately sedentary female. With my band I consume 1200-1500 calories per day. I am slowly losing 1-2 lbs per week. Yes, I could have done this without the band, but I would have been difficult to sustain the weight loss. I think I will have a better time keeping it off. If you find that you are consuming over 2000 calories per day, then this could be a tool for you to use. Believe me when I tell you 2000 calories per day is not a lot of food. I belive most people consume more than that. Good luck. Please let me know what you find out if you decide to track your food and drinks. It is an eye opener, I promise. My daughter has decided that if she starts gaining, her 600 calorie frappacinos will be the first thing to go!!!!
  21. It is probably from being intubated, but if it persists, call you regular pcp. I think most people do have some discomfort from that darn tube.

    About to just give up

medic, we were banded about the same time, but I hit my plateau a month before you did. I went 6 weeks and didn't lose anything! I looked at my food journal and noticed that my weight stalled when I added special k Cereal to my diet. I did that because it was easy to eat after I became a little too tight after my hysterectomy at the end of december. Look at what you are eating and make sure you are consuming enough calories each day. As far as the cravings, if you can consume some without binging, then do it. I bought some Peanut Butter hearts at valentine's and would eat 1. They aren't great for you, but if you eat just one and adjust your calories to account for it, then eat it. I eat sf dark chocolate pudding almost every day. It is good for curbing my chocolate craving. Again, look at your foods you are eating each day and see if you notice a drop in healthy foods. Maybe you are a little too tight from your February fill and you are leaning toward slider foods (like my cereal) without even realizing it. If everything is how it should be, it could just be your plateau and you will just have to wait it out, even though it is extremely frustrating. BTW, have you ever posted in the july master thread? http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f182/july-butterflies-master-thread-68044/

    crushing pills

Call and see if you can get some liquid pain meds. My surgeon had me on liquid lortab. They may not be willing to prescribe more, but it can't hurt to ask.

    July Butterflies Master Thread

I set a bandiversary goal for myself. Maybe we can set an end of july challenge or everyone join the july 4th challenge. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/july-4th-challenge-120-days-88900/index4.html#post1174573

wondering if anyone else has this problem

You are too tight. You need to go get a small unfill. Sometimes it only takes .5ccs out to give you relief and allow you to eat healthy again. If you continue with it too tight, you will probably either continue to pb on healthy foods or turn to eating all soft slider foods, both scenarios are not good. Please call and see if you can get a little taken out. It will make a difference. Good luck!
