  1. Well, let me say once again that I do no come on this site very much. I am more of a youtuber. But let me give an update. I had my endoscopy done and everything look great. The dr did not see anything that could cause me harm down the road in the future. Looks like there is nothing as a result of my surgery its just my body needs adjustment. My stomach looked great and it did not look like i had a bile leak. I could have another ct scan or do laproscopic surgery to look around if the pain persist. I can also just give it time. I will say that I am 80% better but i still have slight discomfort. I will give it time but if at some point its not gone i will do further testing. I am happy that a revision to RNY is not the recommendation at this time. I continue to pray for continued healing.

  2. If you don't feel right stay on it!! I had left side pain and left shoulder pain intermittently from the beginning - at about 9 weeks out I was diagnosed with a leak, then immediately went to pneumonia and was septic before the surgery to put in a drain 2 days later. A week after being released I had trouble breathing and back to the hospital - Fluid on my lungs. All caused from the leak. I went 9 weeks having my Dr's say it was acid reflux, not able to eat or drink as much as they said I should be able to. I had CBC's, chest xray, sinus xray, my 1 month labs, more labs at 6 weeks - it was the 6 week lab that finally got their attention - my ferritin was high, saturation and something else low so they sent me to a hematologist who ordered a chest CT which happened to catch an abscess in my abdomen. I didn't ever feel well, but felt better at 2 weeks than at 1 month and it just went down hill. I wish I would have pressed my Dr's harder so it didn't go this far. I am now on a feeding tube until it heals. So long story short, listen to your body!! I never had a fever, my cbc's were fine until the pneumonia hit.

Girl wow..u really went thru. I have been trying to get this address since 1 week out of surgery. Because I did not have my surgery hear. It took me forever to get a bariatric surgeon. I had a CT scan back in December but they didnt find anything. I am having an EGD done on Feb 17th. The bariatric doctor thinks I am having some type of bile reflux problem that is causing irritation to my sthomach and intestines but I dont but that. I do feel like something is leaking when eat. WOrst case senario is that if its bile relux i would have revision to RNY surgery. I am so tired and sick of being tired. I just want them to find out whats wrong and fix it. I am on yourtube under MsLadyKanKan I will be posting updates there. Thanks so much for ur story. I am so glad that they found out ur problem and ur getting well.

  3. Yes I am still in pain and it is not going away. Ok so I finally had my appointment with a wonderful bariatric surgeon in the Baltimore area. He suspects that I am having bile reflux which could cause irritation to the stomach and intestines. He doesnt think i had a bad surgery. I am not convinced yet. I am scheduled to have a EGD done on Feb 17th. Worst case scenario is that I would have to have a revision to gastric bypass if it is bile reflux gastritis. I am scared, dissapointed and angry. I did this to better my health and now I am not so healthy. This is not at all what I expect.Follow me on YOUTUBE under MsLadyKanKan for the most recent updates.

  4. Sorry you're going through this! We would all really like an update. I am currently considering your doc. Do you think he is to blame at all? Would you recommend him still?

well...all I can say is that I was treated with such a high level of professionalism. I have recently seen a bariatric surgeon who does not think that it has anything to due with a botched surgery. He thinks that it is possible that I am having sum type of bile reflux issues. I am having an EGD done on the Feb 17th. I am still thinking there is something else such as "leak". I am not sure. All I no is that I started having this pain 1 week after surgery. I am tired frustrated and hating this damn sleeve right now. I just want to no whats going on and hopefully it can be fixed. These doctors are human not God and errors can be made. If it is not surgery related and it is bile reflux I will have to have a revision surgery to RNY. So I am praying for the best. But u can follow me on YOUTUBE. I recorded my journey from day one.....I think u will enjoy and it gives u a great account of how it is in Mexico. Look under MsLadyKanKan. Hope this helps.

  5. No it's still there.....I did have 3 days when it was gone and then it came back. Because I had surgery out of the country fInding a bariatric doctor locally is tough. When ur not one of there patients ur not priority. So it took 4weels to get an appointment. Thankfully the day is coming jan 30th I'll b going to get checked out. Every test known to man I will b asking for. I don't come on VST much. But if u want to follow me I do my updates on YouTube under msladykankan...

  6. Memee....wow 3 months out and no symptoms my goodness that is scary. Well u no anything is possible so yes I'm gonna get on this for sure. Trust me I have no problems being demanding...I am an RN so trust... I speak up bout my health. I'll b all over this now....I didn't even no a leak 3 mos out is possible. Girl u jus opened my eyes...thxs!!

  7. U no what I'm just gonna put it out there. After doing made research and deciding to have my surgery with Dr Aceves he seemed like the best choice. Everybody had wonderful things to say and no complaints. I figured he wa the best. Well I must say surgery was I eventful, things went well, I was treated kindly and the experience was great. But I be dammed if I wasn't a week out and I started having left abdominal pain and chest pain. Thought it had resolved and now 6wks out its still here 24/7.

I can eat and drink but this damn pain is no joke. I've had blood work, CT scan, md exam and they don't see nothing. All I no is that I did not have this discomfort before surgery. I'm frustrated and annoyed. I no there is something going on. If I'm still healing when and the hell will I b healed? When and the hell will this pain go?

As y'all can tell I'm frustrated and needed to vent . I'm not saying this a complication due to my surgery.....IJS that not all of us walk away from surgery with DR Aceves without having some issues. I'm just one of the real people who will talk about it. Just cause u may go to a reputable known surgeon doesn't mean it will be a walk in the park.

Don't no how mcg more ill be coming on VST...but if u want to follow my updates check me out on You Tube MsLadyKanKan.

  8. Ok so I thought I was past this point. I had just reported on my YouTube channel that my upper left abdominal pain was almost gone. Now 4 days later it's back but more so in my chest(sternum) area r smack in the l side near my heart. I am so sick of this. 6 wks out and I thought all this was behind me. After a CT scan with contrast and pcp examine nothing was discovered. I am convinced there is something going on n my body. Well guess now its time to see a bariatric surgeon.

Since I had my surgery in Mexico I can't go see that surgeon...ughhh!

Thankfully I can't eat, drink and move about. I just can't stand not knowing what the hell this feeling is or what it is. I figured by now I b all healed up. Lordy give me strength...

  9. I had pain where the drain had been for up to 3 weeks after surgery, but it seemed to be a little less every day during that time.

I could not live without my heating pad for the first 3 weeks - seriously day and night. Try to use the heating pad and lay in a comfortable position to try and relieve the pain. You have to remember that you just had 85% of your stomach removed. It's traumatic and your insides are working furiously to heal themselves. There will be spasms, pains, itches - all kinds of things that will happen while your body miraculously repairs itself.

It is good that you are diligent with the bloodwork and make sure to report any nausea or fever.

Otherwise, keep taking your PPI, keep taking the gas x, keep a heating pad with you at all times, and maybe stay off your feet for a couple of days.

This was a nice post...I appreciate that!

  10. I was sleeved 1 week before you and I can honestly say I feel your pain- Up until about a week ago I had pain form my drain hole to the next scar to the right- Very painful everytime I moved or took a deep breath- NOTHING i did helped- After putting up with it I called the doc and they advised me (in my case) the pain was probably due to the fact that that particular sutured area came out my lapband, my stomach- all the instrumetns etc- so it had the most activiity for the 2.5 hour surgery- after I heard that it made sense. I also felt like the wind was knocked out of me under my L rib cage- It wasnt gas, it wasnt anything except like weird- Anyway it eventually went away last week- BUT last week I also started walking every night too-

ON another note- I too have felt very frustrated and oftentimes regret what I did but it is only because I cannot eat without getting sick- I can only have Soup or yogurt consistancy and I see people posting 3-4 weeks out enjoying mushies etc.. I would love to!! My doc prescribed medicine to help with the sickness after eating which helps but I hate the fact taht I have to take a pill in order to eat- I am not hungry EVER, I also am not gettting in my Protein nor my water- I feel weak and all I want to do is sleep- some days are better than others but everyone here has been cheering me along saying the 1st month is the worst and i am praying to god that is the case with me- and as I enter my 4th week post op I am encouraged that it will be over soon and normal life as I can experience with my new sleeve will be much better...

Good luck and I hope you feel better biggrin.gif

Ok good to no I am not alone....I am hoping for the best. THXS

  11. did you try taking a gas ex strip the kind that disolves on your tongue? Maybe it will get rid of the gas???? I just want you to be able to feel some relief. Don't feel remorseful, it's all going to be ok! We are praying for you!

Yes mame...Ive tried everything and nothing is resolving this pain in the side.....discourage at this point. But, I am a fighter so I will keep pushing until this issue is resolved. I don't back down so my doc will have no choice but to do every test known to man on me until we figure out whats going on.

  12. Thxs Pookeisym! My blood work is perfect just like prior to surgery. No abnormal WBC levels. I don't have any other symptoms ie;;nausea, dizzines, vomitting, breathing, diffculty swallowing nothing. I am gonna follow up with a GI doc this week. I was sucking on a mint and swallowed it by accident....I just can't see that being the problem. It should have dissolved by now...I just hope they find something (anything and fix it).

  13. I hate that you're having buyer's remorse, but I promise you it does get better. It's still early in the game, I had some soreness in my tummy up until about a week ago and Im at 6 weeks. What you're describing does sound like gas, and of course a CT scan won't detect that, but I urge you to give it some time. The first 4 weeks are definitely the hardest, it begins to get so much easier once you and your sleeve are in tune with each other.

I hear you....I am going to do sum GI follow ups this week. Crazy thing is I did not have this feeling until this week. I can drink, swallow, no vomitting , breathing good no nausea at all but this got damn pain. I thought it was gas to..and the Er doctor said gas can still be an issues. I just want some got damn relief....thats it! Lordy!!!

  14. Have you contacted Dr Aceves? I've read this same problem before a few times and it ends up being trapped gas usually. Is the pain constant? When you breath in and out? Anything you do gives relief? <hugs:>

Girl...I have contacted him several times. He says its normal and that my intestines is probably shifting or stomach adjusting. Nothing relieves the pain...nothing. It's there all the time. The only relief I felt was when they gave me a shot of IV 1mg Dilaudid when I was in the ER Friday. Eventually that wore off now its back to the pain. I dont no I guess ill do some GI test next. UGGHHHHH.....

  15. YOu no in the beginning, I was the most optimistic person on the face of the earth regarding this surgery. I felt confident and sure that I would not have any issues. I believed that I would have this surgery and feel like the same person. I couldn't be more wrong. In fact I am starting to feel horrible. I no I am not getting in enough Protein and I am getting weaker by the day.

I am having this consistent pain in the left upper quadrant of my abdomen that will not go away. I got so worried about it that I went and had a CT scan done in the ER the other day. I was happy to get a clear report and there was no infection, abscess, obstruction or any apparent issues. I was given a clean bill of health. But, then I was mad because I don;t no why I feel this pain. There is nothing worst then a doctor telling u "we can't find anything" but u are still having symptoms. It makes me scared to think that this pain will never go away and I will never feel normal again. My surgeon tends to think its normal and could be my intestines or stomach shifting and adjusting. Well i don't think so I feel this pain 24/7. It does not go away

Wow...I never thought I would be saying "Why did I do this to myself"

Now I am gonna go to my pcp Monday and do a follow up. I really don't no what type of test could be done to detect my pain. I guess I have the GI series left to do. Maybe I have a stricture or tight stitch. I don't no a CT scan will pretty much show everything and it showed nothing. The thought of being one of those people who has unexplained pain from here out is depressing. I don't want to be that person.

I am starting to have major regrets.

I can't say that I am having complications because as of now nothing is showing that there are any. All I can say is I fee like I made a mistake and I feel horrible.

  16. OH I am so glad to hear that u are enjoying my youtube post. That was the total purpose of doing it so that others can see that it is not that bad. I will continue to post and give updates. At this time I am struggling a little bit with getting in sum full liquids. I was doing great and then I think I over did it by eating the wrong thing. Just waiting for it to relsove and hoping for the best. Other wise I feel good. No pain just sum sorness at the incision site. keep watching
