    Pill Organizer

I have several - I have one similar to this that I picked up at wal-mart for alot cheaper - I used this for a week trip to California. http://www.amazon.com/EZY-Dose-Jumbo-Weekly-Reminder/dp/B0000537JQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1335703852&sr=8-3 I have this one that I keep my workday pills in, in my desk drawer, it holds a weeks worth. http://www.amazon.com/Travel-Carry-Compartment-Holds-Actual/dp/B0043W1EYM/ref=sr_1_23?ie=UTF8&qid=1335703977&sr=8-23 I have this one I keep in my purse with a day to 2 days of Vitamins in it for when I am out and about http://www.amazon.com/Multi-Day-VitaCarry-Compartment-Holds-Pills/dp/B002CSMYI4/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1335704082&sr=8-8 That being said, I keep all the multis in one slot, all the b12 in one, all the Iron in one, all the Biotin in 1, a few tylenol, a few of my propanalol and protonix in one, the big slot I use for calcium petites since I take 6 a day. In the long cheapy one I had several slots full of calcium petites. My schedule looks like this: 1 multi, 3 calcium petites (my multi does not have iron so I can combine calcium with them) 2x a day 1 Vitamin b, 2 biotin with first dose of multi/calcium a day 1 1/2 Bifera iron 3x a day propanalol/protonix 1x a day So I take vitamins/meds 6 times a day. Remember good practice is no calcium with iron, no iron with ppi. I have what to take when down in my head so I don't really need the ones sectioned by a time. Hope that helps!
  3. Search http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ she has lots of protein ice cream recipes and she has these great little microwave protein cakes too - I like to make a chocolate one and then toast a slice and add peanut butter - it really helps with the bread craving! She also has pancake bites which are yummy. She doesn't put proteing powder in them but I did add a scoop of unflavord myself and it was still good - I made some with chopped up pepperoni (I didn't have bacon or sausage on hand) and YUM! She also has a ricotta panckae recipe - again YuM! All these things have really helped me when I craved something I shouldn't have - great healthy alternatives. She had RNY several years ago and her site is a wealth of WLS friendly recipes!

Old Habits Back With Full Force!

I'm not a year out but wanted to offer encouragement! Admitting you are doing something wrong is half the battle! Can you maybe work toward a few good days a week? Then every few weeks add another good day and before long you will be back to good all the time? You have done an amazing jobs, don't give up! Maybe you just mentally needed a little break?
  6. RNY is virtually a cure for GERD so you may want to seriously think about it! I'm sorry your journey has been so long but prayers and best of luck!!

    A Sad Milestone

Ok first things first, get counseling!! This screams transfer addictions!! And also don't beat yourself up - I am reading you have gained 16 lbs but you lost 100!!! You are still doing awesome, you just need to stop the regain! You say you are between jobs - how about just getting out and walking! See some sites where you live, got to historical places nearby or national parks - free or cheap things that will get you moving yet keep you entertained too. Or how about going back to college? How about setting a goal of losing that weight and treating yourself and your honey to some sexy lingire? Give yourself something to work toward. How about nuts or beef sticks to snack on instead of carbs? Just keep them out of the house and you won't snack on them. Do you do your shakes anymore? How about just trying to do one a day - that usually takes care of the sweet craving for me. You are feeling weak and tired - are you taking your Vitamins? I know when I am tired I eat and really I should just get better sleep. Do you take a PPI still? I notice I have a gnawing in my stomach when I go off mine, I feel hungrier. Try going back on them and see if that fixes the growl and hunger. But above all, get counseling! Love and prayers!
  8. Well I have been a member of this group for a while but hadn't posted so here goes - I am in my final stretch and the weight is just barely coming off, less than a lb a week. I still get only about 800-900 calories a day and almost dread adding much exercise...trying though. What is everyone doing to bump up your calories? Or should I just try and stick with walking until I can get more calories?

    Is A Cup Too Much?

What sorts of food can you eat 4-8 oz of? At 8/5 months out I would say for me I can eat pretty close 4 oz at a time, 3 oz of meat and then some cheese, salsa and sour cream on top. Lettuce doesn't fill me up so I can probably eat a 1/2 cup of that with the 3 oz of meat.

    Leak Symptoms?

happy to report my ferritin was tested a few weeks ago and it is all back to normal. The hematologist himself called me with my CT results in October and said he was sure once my abscess was cleared up my ferritin would go back to normal and it did ))

    Hair Loss?

My hair started falling out around 3 months and kept at it for about 2 months.

    Leak Symptoms?

I had way out of whack ferritin levels (300's) so they sent me to a hematologist - he was thinking lung cancer and did a CT of my chest and it happened to catch the abscess in my abdomen. Also the checking immediately post op doesn't account for the swelling that holds any possible present leaks being held closed by it. The swelling doesn't go down until 6-8 weeks post op ...

    Anticipating A Denial

Have you called your insurance company? Don't wait to hear from the Dr's office or get a letter from the insurance, call!! Make sure they got the request, ask where they are in the review process, etc.

    Leak Symptoms?

Don't be fooled - you may NOT know you have a leak! Symptoms can be passed off as being other things. The only sympton I had was left shoulder pain. I was told for weeks this was acid reflux. When my abscess (caused from the leak) was discovered my Dr was shocked - I was not sick, had no fever, none of the normal symptoms. I hate the "you will know" - you "might" know, but no guarantee!!

    Leak Question

I had a leak also, when my leak was healed I also asked - "can this happen again?" My doctor said this - ALL BETS ARE OFF IF YOU SMOKE OR DRINK. (I don't). He said these two things really affect your body and healing and not to do it. Otherwise, he told me I would be fine. This was at 6 months out. That being said, my leaked showed up at 9 weeks. It was most likely hidden and kept closed by the swelling of my sleeve and when the swelling went down, it opened up. Nothing I did to cause it.
  16. I think in your profile now you can select who your surgeon was, they have a list. It's a pretty new feature.
  17. Just saw them, my surgeon's is off as well, the length of time he has been doing bariatric surgery and the % of his practice is off from what I can tell.

    Any Shorties?

4'11'' here, start of 6 month diet was 242, 213 on surgery date, 148 today. My goal is 130 (I will be happy) but would love to see 115.
  19. I have read of a few who have had to, one who was forgotten by the driver and one who had complications. Hopefully they can chime in and let you know what the did. I don't remember who it was though. Ask the airline if you need to change, what do they do, what are the rules?

    Question About Planning Surgery

I asked the same thing! The pain really isn't anything near a c-section. I think you would be fine at graduation, I went to a wedding day 6 after my sleeve. I took along my protein shake. You should be able to drive right off as long as you aren't taking prescription pain meds - I took tylenol at home. I think if you plan for graduation, you should be fine. Don't over do it the few days before. If you go to track meets, you can sit and watch and sit your water - I would probably sit at the top of the bleechers so you have the rails to lean on, I think it would have bothered me sitting with no support. Hope that helps!
  21. Full liquids is a hard stage to know when you are full. When you start eating solids, you will know. If you feel uncomfortable or bloated with any full liquids it's a good bet you over did it but it would be hard to do.

    Left Shoulder Pain

Not everyone has a drain, my surgeon does them only with bypass (mine was from my leak, not my original surgery). Some go home with it and some don't. It seems to be surgeon preference. I would ask you surgeon.

    Left Shoulder Pain

They think that it was there from the beginning, that when my swelling went down it opened up (the swelling held it closed). Honestly, I never felt better from surgery, everyone kept telling me it would get better and it didn't. I was relieved to find out I wasn't just a wimp! LOL I think you are fine if you are feeling good, keep on being active, but be concious of how you feel! I am 3 months out from my healed leak, 2 months out from all the tubes gone and being on solid food and I feel AWESOME!
