    Sprite

I am 2 months out and I have a sip every once in a while. I would NEVER open a can or buy a bottle for myself - I would figure out a way to drink the whole thing! I will steal a sip from my partner and she scolds me but it is good. Most of the time it is a reminder that it doesnt taste nearly as good as it used to! I have read that it stretches your sleeve and I have also read that there is no medical research that supports the theory. I think in this new life I have to remember something - everything in moderation. We all have to live right?!!!!!!!
  2. They figured out how to take the seed out of watermelons - They sure as heck should try to develop something for us! If I had the smarts and $$ to do so I'd get right on that! lol
  3. -45lbs!!!!!!!!! I love my sleeve!!! Some days are rough, but it is so worth it!!

  4. Chinese food - boy do I miss it!!! I craved fresh food post op - all I wanted was veggies and fruits. I introduced them earlier Than most and in very small quantities but I Was going crazy without them. I love them more now than ever before.....especially tomatoes!!!!

    Who Did You Tell?

I told everyone and now that I am post op I have a huge support system. I was guarded with it at first but it took 6 months (1st dr visit to surgery) and by surgery I didn't care who knew. Everyone has an opinion - you'll become less sensitive about it as time goes on. Just do whatever makes you comfortable - you have a long road ahead and plenty of supporters here!

    Sleeve Vs Band

Look at the long term complication rates and upkeep over the years - I would never chose the band!!!! I want to LIVE my life!
  7. I had the same issue and still do on some days. I followed dietitians orders and found a Protein I liked before surgery and afterwards, I hated it! They made me physically I'll and I couldn't keep them down. I will vomit up and entire meal if I eat too quickly, eat the wrong thing, or don't chew enough. This happens more than I'd like. I have issues eating at the table with my family. I find myself eating at their pace and by that time (even if only 3 bites in) it's too late and I will be sick. They say never to eat near the tv but it keeps me focused on something other than the food and I eat slower that way. Actually, I'm eating right now and this post helped me pace myself....so, thanks! Lol Just remember - every journey is different and we can only do our best

    Im Such And Idiot!

Straws from fast food restaurante seem like theyre twice the size of a straw you purchase in quantities of 100 from the grocery store. I love using the small ones and if you werent bothered then dont worry!

    Best Frozen Yogurts?

    How about the carbs??
  11. I chose the sleeve over the bypass because I didn't want the malabsorption and rerouting. I chose the sleeve over the band bc of success and complications rates. The biggest factor in my decision was upkeep. I can now see my surgeon once a year to check in and other than that live my new life! I wouldn't want to keep goin back for fills.

    Airplane Nsv

I've almost always been overweight but when I flew last year it really made me realize just how big I had gotten. Both flights were embarrassing and uncomfortable. I am 7 weeks out and will be flying again in the fall - I can't wait to have the same NSV! Congrats on your success!

  14. I am 7 weeks post-op tomorrow and still have not had any hunger. I do know that acid can cause the feeling of hunger. Are you taking an anti-acid pill? I take Prilosec everyday.

What Did You Tell Your Kids?

I have twin 5 year olds and I was very honest with them about my surgery. If they tell everyone they come in contact with I am ok with that. They knew something was up when I stopped eating so I told them that Mommy was trying to get healthy and that my doctor was going to help me make my tummy smaller. They knew about my nights away at the hospital ahead of time. One of my girls stayed back and was afraid to hurt me after surgery. My other insisted on being in the hospital bed with me the day after surgery, seeing my incisions daily (which were glued so it wasnt a mess), and cared for me hands on as much as she could. They both dealt with it differently and 6 weeks later they are both fine with it. They will tell you "a robot went into Mommys belly to make it smaller!!"

    Surgery Tomorrow

I had the majority of pain the day after surgery. The gas went to my shoulders and made it nearly impossible for me to get out of bed without help. I also vomited from the morphine and they have me Tylenol thru my IV. I felt good and walked around my first night, second day was rough, and the next day I went home. I was sore for a couple of weeks and it wasn't a walk in the park, but many say they were fine with meds. I chose To only use pain meds at night so I could sleep. I think I did that for 6 nights and I haven't taken anything since. I had moments of regret - that's totally normal. I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow, down 38lbs and convinced my sleeve saved my life. Good luck you'll do great!

  23. That barium test was the worst part of my entire surgery! I could barely stand while they took the xrays. And then they made me stand there for 15 minutes to do it again! Apparently two times was required from my surgeon. I was standing on a platform and they moved it without warning me - And with the tast of the liquid....I cried. It was horrible. Hope I never ever have to do that again!!!

Pain/cramp In Incision Above Belly Button.

I experienced the worst pain in that same area. If you think about it - Thats the area that suffered the most trauma during surgery. I found that it helped to just hold that area when getting up or doing anything that bothered it. Apply some pressure - it helped me a lot. I didnt need anything like a pillow although some do use one. It's totally normal to be sore!
