    January 2012 Sleevers!

Circa I have not tried the Max Protein as I can not find it locally .. Never heard of Premier Protein.. Tomorrow I am going to try the protein shot that I bought, I also have a lean body shake to try.. I NEED to get in my protein.. Also Vitamins, the WLS nurse/coordinator not sure her official title, I think is a bit bi-polar. She told me she had protein samples for me when she came to my room after the surgery she said she never say that.. Then she said I have Vitamin samples... it took 3 days to get those from her (SMH).. Then she never answered me directly on what vitamins besides chewable to take.. I asked about flintstones chewable but she said they had to be adult flints ones.. I have never found any.. so tomorrow I am going through the bag of vitamins she sent to me.. It can be so confusing.. I read online don't take Calcium and Iron at the same time etc.. Right now I am looking at 1500mg of Calcium + Vitamin D with calcium citrate B Complex Iron does that sound about right? I know if I go to my appointment on the 6th taking nothing she will be mad at me and i don't want to make my Dr mad at me.. but Im kind of lost.. Everyone else I know has had Bypass not the sleeve

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Good Morning Sleevers! I can not believe that I was sleeved 6 days ago, I am a little lethargic at times but I contribute that to trying to do to much and only being on liquids.. I also have not found a protein drink that stays with me if you get my drift and I don't mean upchucking.. I have tried Chike, Isopure, Click... I have a bunch of Isopure I liked it in the beginning.. I am going to go back through them and systematically eliminate them, just in case it was a pre-op thing.. LOL though Chike is definitely out, I can't stand cold coffee therefore coffee flavors don't work for me. Today is my last day on Full liquids then I get to have a Pureed Diet, mashed potatoes never sounded so FANTASTIC.. January 2012 Sleevers!

I am day one of my liquid diet.. and you know what it sucks! LOL I thought I was so prepared but apparently I wasn't ready I thought I didn't need a food funeral but I feel like I should have had one.. HA HA... My surgery is Wednesday 25 Jan and I hope I can make it through without biting the heads off of my family who have to endure grumpy me looking at them while they eat spaghetti and I sip on chicken broth.. Maybe I should get a room for the week all to myself... Looking forward to the surgery, stocked up on soups and broth today, went shopping for needed things for the hospital stay ... now I am just trying to occupy myself so I don't go in the kitchen and ravish the left over spaghetti.. Wish me Luck! Good luck everyone, I love reading your stories successes and struggles.. It is so nice to be able to connect with people going through the same thing

    What Made You Decide

I decided to have WLS about 4 years ago, due to the fact that we were living overseas though it was not an option.. So I tried WW online and I had a trainer, I even worked out with friends.. I moved to Jacksonville when my DH got orders to NAS JAX almost a year ago.. After purchasing our house and getting the kids in school I finally started looking into WLS again.. My defining moment came for me when I was a Girl Scout Leader and asking the Girls at meetings and camps to do things that I was physically unable to do. How can I expect them to do things that I myself could not do what kind of role model was that? I didn't want to be the fat girl in the corner at the clubs with her thin friends, or the Mom hiding behind her children in photos or just unhappy and unsociable anymore.. I tried taking care of myself and doing the things without surgery but I never lost more than 20lbs.. Now that I have gone through the preliminaries for the surgery I know I have to change my relationship with food and the decisions I make on what and how much I eat.. I have successfully lost 15lbs just by better food choices and no exercise.. I have started introducing exercise into my daily routine and hope that I see the scale moving again.. My surgery is scheduled for 1/25/12 and I can not think of a better way to look at being 35 then with being the me I have always known was inside that fat girl, this skinny b***h is ready to come out! LOL

    January 2012 Sleevers!

I have a question for everyone that is choosing VSG, why VSG over RNY.. Several people in my group (yes I know everyone is different) opted for VSG in the beginning but by surgery they chose to have RNY instead.. I believe that for me I am choosing the right surgery because I have no co morbidities that RNY would correct, I do have high cholesterol and they are watching my blood pressure as I am on the verge of having high blood pressure. Anyways today I am just having a second guessing of the type of surgery I chose. Thanks everyone for listening

    Introduce Yourselves!!

Yeah I am moving forward..I have been set up for the 8 week Ship Shape program... I am going to try and make the Meeting tonight, there will be a speaker there.. The 27th I have an appointment with the RN do open my file and talk to me about the process and everything I have to do.. This week I think I am suppose to have blood drawn while fasting, not looking forward to that.. I know it needs to get done though. Another small issue I have is I hate DRIVING on the freeway, 7 years ago I was in a car accident and both cars involved were totaled. Thankfully no one was majorly injured, but since then I have lived in Japan and haven't had to really drive very far or on a freeway..Now though I live in Florida and I need to get use to it. I am scared to death to be doing this on my own as my DH is out of town this week.. I know I need to conquer my fear, when I first got here (NAS Jax) I had a panic attack driving the rental car back to the airport.. LOL.. ok ok..off my little box.. just excited that I am moving forward!

Not one I ever had to contend with before. No surgery date as I just was approved for all the pre stuff today.. Calling on Monday to make my first appointment because the Nurse was not at her desk when I was in the office or when I called later that day.. I live in Orange Park Florida and looking to connect with anyone going through, been through, considering etc.. WLS

    Welcome Florida Sleevers

This thread has been a bit in active. However I thought i would jump on.. I just received the go ahead from m Dr today to start the Counseling/Program etc to have WLS surgery. I am leaning towards the VGS which is how I found this form. I live in Orange Park, just moved here in January. My husband is in the Navy & I will have my procedure done by Military Doctors, I am guess at NAS JAX. Husband supports me 100% and I am looking towards a better, happier, fitter life with my children.. (girl ages 12 & 14)
