    Juicing

I have a Breville also. Great juicer, clean up is not that bad.

Goodl luck, I'm scheduled Feb 3rd!

    Juicing

My husband and I also juice. Most of the juice is made up of veggies, carrots, cucumbers, celery, some type of greens such as kale or chard and then one or two kind of fruit. Kiwi, apple, mango, orange (take off the peel), lemon, strawberries, watermelon, some ginger and beet is also good, but only use like a quarter of a beet not the whole thing. We put in whatever we have available and drink one glass a day. Using mostly veggies keeps the calories down and a couple of fruits makes it a little sweeter. I consider it a snack. You just have to experiment with different foods.

    My Lap Band Doctor Sucks!!!!!!!

For new people considering the band, research the doctor you are choosing.

    Port Placement

Lapband surgery scheduled for Feb 3rd! Have a question about port placement. I am very short waisted and worried the waistband of my pants would irritate the port. Did anyone have it placed below their waistline?
  6. I have been going back and forth on this also. Decided to to the band, bypass just seems too drastic. Band date Feb 3rd. If I could, I would probably go with the gastric sleeve, but my insurance will not cover it. Good luck in whatever you decide.
  7. My husband doen't need to loose as nearly as much weight as I do, but could stand to loose 35-40 lbs. This is a chance for both of us to start eating healthy. I just won't be able to eat as much.
  8. Starting pre op diet today, already hungry just thinking about it. FYI Zero Vitamin water is really good. They have tons of different flavors.
  9. I'm starting the pre op diet today. My doctor said I could have one meal with fish or chicken, no seafood, pork, beef etc. Along with veggie or salad. I don't know why all these pre op diets are so different. Does anyone know anyone that was rejected on the table because their liver did not shrink enough. I don't know how your liver can shrink that drastically in two weeks.
  10. Has anyone had the band done with a diagnosis of Barrett's Esophagus from acid reflux? I was going to have the band done in two weeks, but just had the upper GI done and found this out. Have not talked with my barriatric surgeon yet, waiting for some tests to come back. I really think the RNY is more drastic than I want to loose weight. I have Tricare for my insurance and they will not pay for VSG, you have to have it done at a MTF. The cut off age for the MTF in my area to do a VSG is 55 and I am 58. I was wondering if Tricare would pay for VSG if other two surgeries are not an option. Probably not.
  11. I've heard of it. I read you should use the organic apple cider vinegar vs store bought because of the processing it goes through.
  12. I just had one done this past Wednesday. I have had reflux for years. Showed I might have Barrett's Esophagus which is abnormal cells in the esophagus which could lead to cancer if not treated or watched carefully. This means I probably cannot have the band. Waiting for some biopsies to come back this week. Was hoping to get banded because my insurance will not pay for sleeve. RNY seems a little too drastic for me. Good Luck.

    Its Only Been A Week?!

Surprised you can eat solid foods already. My doctor said I had to stay on any foods that would go through a straw for 3 weeks while everything heals and then go to soft mushy foods for another three weeks. After six weeks can eat anything as long as chewed well and tolerated.

    Two Weeks Pre-op

I have tried the Unjury which you can also find on line. The flavors taste pretty good.

Day Two Of Pre-op Liquid Diet

That's why I scheduled my surgery for January. Didn't want to have to explain why I was on liquids at any holiday functions. Good luck with the pre op diet, I start on January 1st. My doctor does let you have one meal as long as it is a protein like fish or chicken and a veggie. All these pre op diets are different depending on the doctor I guess.

    Drinking And Eating

My doctor said 30 min before and 1 hour after.
  17. I knew I did not want gastric bypass, too extreme. Also did not want to deal with all the malabsorption issues. I was really looking at the VSG, but my insurance will not pay for it. Still considers it experimental so I'm opting for the band. Sometimes your insurance dictates what you can have unless you are self pay, then it is your decision.
  18. Resolution is to be sucessfull with the band. Surgery in January. I have seen a lot of people that have done really well with their weightloss.
  19. First visit was very uneventful. Doctor just went over some paperwork I had filled out. Asked which surgery I was looking to have and then went on to setting up appointments and having all the pre-op tests. Make a list of any questions you might have for the doctor.
  20. I sent you a message on your profile with my email address.
  21. Sorry to hear about all the problems your are having. I haven't been banded yet, date is set for January 13th. And I just realized that's Friday the 13th! I saw your post a couple of weeks ago looking for a buddy in northeast Florida. I'm in Jacksonville. Would love to email you and help each other out.
  22. I've only heard of people eating mostly chicken or fish for protein. Does anybody eat ham or maybe pork. Was wondering if it agrees with the band or is it like eating steak?
  23. It almost sounds like it could be a gallbladder problem if you still have your gallbladder. I had sever stomach and back and should pain when I had the attacks. Towards the end I was throwing up bile because I had a stone in the duct.
  24. Wonder why all the doctors seem to have different pre-op diet. Mine said two liquid meal replacements and one lean protein meal, either chicken or fish and some veggies.

Thanks for the update. I guess I have all this to look forward to. Hoping to get a surgery date in January.
