  1. Thank you. Your weight loss is awesome!

I am 21 weeks out today and will tell you the denser the Protein in your meal, the longer it will stay with me. Also, the longer I wait to drink after I eat, the longer I will not feel hungry.

Choose the most dense protein you can find and wait as long as you can to drink after a meal. That will help with hunger! I usually can go 3-4 hours.

    Kelly :)

  2. Reading your post was good for me. My surgery date is Nov. 21st. Your post gave me information on what to expect.

Hello everyone, Well, as of today, I have been sleeved for six days and I have been amazed. I will take you through my journey for the last 6 days and try not to make this too long. On day 1, we (my husband, Mom, and Aunt) arrived at the hospital and up to this point, I never felt afraid, but a peace that I almost didn't understand, but I knew God was with me. I went to Potomac Hospital in Dale City, VA, my surgery scheduled at 2:30pm with Dr. Halmi, they took me directly to the surgical department and went directly to the OR waiting room. They took me to my room and began the pre-op stuff before surgery. After surgery, I remember waking up in my room and my family around me and looking under the sheet at my scars, saying, "Wow those look good". I thanked them and asked that they go home, because I wanted to just sleep. It was amazing, because I didn't feel any pain (the doctor attached a pain line in my stomach, which really eliminated pain). The nurses got me settled in for the night and I slept and ate a few ice chips. I did get up and go to the bathroom that night, which was pretty easy, except the bladder was still sleeping. The only issue was gas pains (they were rough at times). On day 2, I was up and down during the day, and still amazed, that I didn't have any pain, but I was a little sore. I ordered breakfast (chicken broth/tea/water/jello), but wasn't able to really take a sip of anything without feeling the fullness pain. I walked the halls 2 times, which really did help with the gas and stiffness. They did the x-ray to make sure I had no leaks, and all clear. I moved to full liquids, but still couldn't get much in.On day 3, Now today was really interesting, I still felt no pain, little gas and was moving around pretty good, finally had a bowel movement. I ordered breakfast (cream of wheat/hot tea/water/jello). The order came and I was looking forward to a big bowl of cream of wheat and this is when the reality of my surgery came about, I lifted the top off the plate and their was my cream of wheat (A LITTLE CUP, LIKE YOU WOULD GET WHEN YOU HAVE ketchup TO GO) -- I was shocked, from that point, I knew (the reality) that my life would never be the same. Guess what, I couldn't get all of it down.On day 4, I was scheduled to go home, still no pain, which was great and I walked the halls 4 times and felt good. I rested most of the day until my husband and 7 year old son picked me up. Still not able to eat much, because my stomach was still swollen. Good day.HOME: At home, I still had no pain, but just some soreness and moving around really good. The first couple days, I couldn't really get that much liquid down, but on day 5 (Sunday), I could really get more liquid down (16 oz of water; 20 grams of protein; and chicken Soup broth)--exciting. I have been taking all my Vitamins. I have felt some burning around sore sights, but I know that is a sign of healing. I fixed dinner for my guys and that went well, because I was drinking all day, I felt totally full all day and didn't want to eat. I am very thankful and look forward to the days ahead. I am not going to weigh until my 1st doctor visit on Friday, October 14. I will let you know what the stats are. Thank you all for your support through this site and the prayers that went up!!

  3. Thank you so much for your answer. My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 21st. and I'm really nervous.

I had my first full liquids day yesterday. For dinner I had some blended-up lentil Soup. I was able to eat about 8 oz. of it about 6pm. I was almost uncomfortably full. By 10pm, I felt like there was still no way I could possibly eat anything. It was one of the oddest things I've ever experienced! But also a wonderful thing! I'd had some Protein shake and creamy Tomato Soup earlier in the day and hadn't had that feeling. I'm sure it was the high Fiber content of the soup that made the difference.

So my answer would be that if you eat a meal that's high-protein/high-fiber, you will feel full for a very long time...

  4. I am on this site EVERY single day now. It is my new addiction. I haven't even had the surgery yet, but everyone on here is so inspirational. I love reading all of the stories and posts. I learn a lot from each and every one of you. I especially love reading the NSV stories!! Thank you all!

I'm new on this site. Finally approved for surgery!
