  1. I feel like I've gotten off track I'm almost 3 months out now, and I don't feel like I'm trying very hard to lose weight. So I decided to do the Bootcamp on here to get myself back on track-figured my butt needed kicked back into shape! I started today, eating no carbs and I have actually almost drank the million quarts of Water for the day. I still don't have alot of motivation to exercise, but I'm going to work on that. I don't really have the right to complain, I have lost weight since surgery, but I haven't lost any weight for a couple-three weeks now!! I've lost 38 lbs since my surgery and I had lost about 15 lbs with the pre-op diet. Did anyone else have problems this early on?? I feel like I've flunked or something lol. I have to go back to my surgeon next week for another follow-up and I have to have my Vitamin panels drawn, and I'm pretty sure their going to realize that I haven't been very faithful on taking my Vitamins either. Ugh, I need my butt kicked for being so lazy with all of this!!!! Any advice on how to kick my own butt would be greatly appreciated!

Starting The New Year With The Bootcamp

I actually feel like I have a better attitude towards things now than I did before the surgery, I'm more optimistic about things. I need to do some more mental visualizations to help me picture where I want to be!! I have to take my Calcium, B complex, Vit D and Biotin seperate from my Multi-vitamin, and all of those seperate from my Protonix. That's what has been tripping me up, seperating it all out and actually remembering to take them. I've set reminder alarms in my cell phone of when to take them, and that's been helping. I just need to be accountable for my choices again. I guess I thought that the hard part was over, so now I can be lazy!! Wrong!!!
  3. I don't know about my cup size or my band size, but I'm pretty sure someone let the air out and deflated mine!! I don't want bigger or smaller ones, I just want them put back where they belong-not looking at the floor!!!
  4. Congrats on your new sleeve!! You're going through the worst part now, after the hospital and before "normal" starts. I had a big sports bottle with measurements on it so I could break it down (I have to drink at least 50 ounces in 8 hours, so I have to get in 6 1/2 ounces an hour, an 1 1/4 every 15 minutes...and so on) You aren't really going to over do it and drink too much, your new tummy will stop you. I had problems with my outlet being really swollen for about a week after surgery, so stuff wasn't going through very fast. If it doesn't go through, you will "burp" it up a little bit. I didn't puke at all. I didn't drink enough the second week and had a raging UTI and was soooo dehyrated. I still have to make a conscious effort to drink and drink and I'm 2 1/2 months out now. I buy the cases of bottled water now and don't even put them in the fridge so they are room temp. The burping and gas pains are best relieved with the heating pad, I was in love with it after a while!! I had a sore spot on my right side-in the spot where they took my extra stomach out- that was so sore for almost a month. It all goes away after a while, so keep plugging along!! Good luck and happy losing!

    Best Quote Ever!

I was just watching TV, and a Weight Watcher's commercial was on...the guy in the commercial said "you know when you need new underwear, you've lost alot of weight" or something to that effect. That's hilarious! I asked for new undies for Christmas because all of mine were so saggy in the hiney. Just thought that was an awesome thing to say because I could relate so much!! Hope you all need new undies soon!!! :-)
  6. That's my birthday glad it will be your new birthday too!!

    Ppi Users?

I take Protonix twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, and I also take Zantac once a day in the mid-morning. I have had trouble with GERD for the past 10 years, and I have Barrett's esophagitis now too so I have to keep on top of mine pretty good. I can tell in the evenings if I haven't taken my medicine though, I get the "munchies"...it's really weird!!!

Diarrhea After Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?

I am about 2 1/2 months out from surgery, and I have had diarrhea since my surgery. They've blamed it on the gastrograffin you drink right after surgery, liquids in liquids out, colon infection, gallbladder being out...but they still don't know why I still have it. I guess it's better than being plugged up, but it gets old I hope your's clears up soon!!

    Stretching?

I'm right there with ya girl!! I was sleeved the 14th of October and I've been crawling at a snail's pace with my weight loss here lately. I did figure out the other day that I wasn't eating nearly enough each day though, even when I ate crappy stuff. Have you tracked your calories for a day? I was only eating about 500 calories a day, so hopefully I'll get more results if I bump my intake up a little bit. I feel guilty too, it's too easy to eat whatever you want. I almost wish that I had more problems with junky stuff so I wouldn't eat it. Good luck, and if you figure out a "secret" let me in on it!!

Ladies With Pcos What's Your Rate Of Weight Loss?

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 21, and I'm 31 now, so I've been living with the PCOS demon for a while now!! I had my surgery 2 months ago now, and I've lost 50 lbs total with the pre-op diet and since my surgery. My periods have still been messed up (even more so since the surgery) but the facial hair has seemed to slow down a touch. The pain from the cysts seems to have let up a little bit too. I asked my surgeon today about getting back on birth control to regulate my hormones, and he told me to wait and see how things went as I lost some more weight. The blood sugar issues seem to have leveled out some too, but that may have alot to do with a better diet too. Good luck with the surgery!!
  11. My tummy was swollen for about 2 weeks too, but the pain I had in my right upper side lasted for almost a month. I guess that's the hole that they took my stomach out through?? That spot was all bruised and swollen for what seemed like forever, but it all goes away eventually. I had alot of bowel gas and bowel "issues", so I think that didn't help my bloated belly!! One day you'll wake up and be moving along and realize that you feel alot better, it's a nice surprise! Good luck!
  12. I never thought about the thrill you would get from losing weight, and that every time you jump on the scales is like Christmas. Even if I'm having a stall (like I've done twice already now) I still don't feel the agony I felt before surgery when I got on the scales.I've lost almost 50 lbs in less than 2 months, thats the best present I've ever given myself. And it's alot like having a baby, you quickly forget all the pain and suffering and would go through it again in a heartbeat!
  13. I use it on my cell phone most of the time and to change it on there, go to the circle at the top right and click on it, then go to edit profile. Under the preferences on that page, click on net calorie goal then you can put in whatever you want for your calories. On the website, be on the home tab and click on goals. At the bottom of that page click on the green change goals button. On the next page, click the custom button. On that next page you can change all of your goals for everything-fat, calories, carbs and exercise.
  14. I know when my dad had his gallbladder out, he had a severe allergic reaction to the stuff that they sealed off his bile duct with. His incision was weeping pus and was all red and infected. Keep an eye on it no matter what the doctor's say, it could be an allergic reaction on the inside. They let my dad's go for a week before they opened him back up and had to clean all the infection out, and he almost didn't make it after all that. Hope it get's better!!

Canceled 3 Hrs Before Gastric Sleeve Surgery!

You have to be one strong person to still be sane after all of that! You will appreciate this amazing surgery even more after all the waiting...praying for patience for you!!
  16. My question is what are some of your tips on being sleeved and surviving in the real world?? How do you guys resist the temptations? It's Christmas time too, so there will be Cookies and candies everywhere at work. I work at a hospital, and man do we like to eat. I just don't want to set myself up for failure. I'm planning on bringing my own lunch and keeping Snacks in my locker, but I wanted to know if there were any little tricks anyone has for keeping sane. I was sleeved 7 weeks ago tomorrow, and I go back to work this weekend and I'm scared to flipping death!! I've lived in my little protective cocoon for the last 7 weeks with all of my good little foods in nice little proportions around me, with the ability to resist alot of the temptation just because I wasn't around the "bad" stuff. And if I was around something that I didn't need, I had my hubby there to tell me not to eat it (he's kinda like your conscience on your shoulder-subtle but still there lol). I already had one slip up when I went black Friday shopping with my sister. I drank a million calorie hazelnut latte frappe something something coffee drink that was AMAZING but had me feeling so guilty! My sister felt pretty bad (she bought it) but I can't have someone holding my hand the whole time. Maybe it's my own fear of incompetence, but I need HELP!!

Being Sleeved In The Real World

The weekend at work went really good, but the best part was when I weighed myself this morning and realized my stall was over!! I took alot of different things with me to eat and snack on, but I didn't eat hardly any of it. At least it's there and I can have something when I need it, I was in surgery for almost 5 hours, and that's the first time since my surgery that I actually felt hungry. I was dying of thirst too... I survived, and thanks for all the tips!
  18. I started out at 272 a month before surgery, and was at 258 on the day of surgery on October 14th. So I lost 14 lbs with the 2 week pre-op diet (which I will admit I wasn't very faithful with) and now I'm at 227 this morning! That's 31 lbs since surgery and 45 lbs total in about 7 weeks. I'm 2 lbs away from my first goal that I set for myself, which was my pre-quitting smoking weight. I can't believe that I have gotten this far this fast...it's amazing!! And I just realized that I'm 8.5 lbs away from being halfway to my surgeon's goal weight for me!! HECK YA!!
  19. My eczema is better too!! I had it all over my chest and it had made discolored Patches all over my chest...I got out of the shower just last week and realized they were gone! I have no idea how long they've been gone, but that's the least of my worries lol I do have the break outs on my face and neck, but I was prepared for that to happen. The eczema clearing up was a extreme bonus!!!
  20. My surgeon told me that the xray contrast that they give you to drink for your leak test gives you diarrhea, I had it pretty bad for the first couple of weeks. I wouldn't take the anti-diarrhea medicines either, you'll get the other effect if you're not careful!! I had bloody bowel movements and alot of gassy diarrhea, but eventually it went away. It's still better than constipation right now for you...ugh, that would hurt! Good luck!!
  21. I'd call your surgeon and have him give you some ideas on what to take for the pain. Even better, have him fax a list of no-no medications to your family doctor so they will have it on file for the future. I haven't needed any other medicines other than the pain medicine they sent me home with, so I really don't know, but I'd start with the surgeon first. They'd be the best one's to ask!

The Cons Of Gastric Sleeve Life! :-(

I'm still pretty new to this whole process, only about 7 weeks out, but I've ran into the eating out thing alot in the past few weeks. We've only had a problem with the fact that I still can't eat some things (like steak, I want a freaking juicy steak soooo bad!! Lol, talk about all in your head) but I usually split something with my hubby. We went to Applebee's a couple of weeks ago and we split a chicken ravioli something or other, and I ate a couple of the strips of grilled chicken and a chunk of my daughter's slider burger (just the burger part) and that was way more than enough for me. Another ackward thing is your drink at a restaurant. Because if I order one, I'm going to drink on it before the meal, and I really can't get all tanked up before a meal! I look weird saying I don't want one, but oh well. I sipped a little bit of the hubby's tea. I did have the SWEETEST thing ever happen though, and it caught me off guard. We went to a burger joint to get the kids something to eat, and my oldest daughter (a very quiet, gentle kid) pipes up and asks me what I want to split with her for supper! Shocked me!! We split a cheeseburger (I tore a chunk of her burger patty off and ate just that) and it was pretty nice being thought of like that. Now that I'm supremely off subject, the only thing that really bothers me post-sleeve is the acid reflux. And I've been assured by my surgeon that it will get better with time. I take 2 protonix daily and I'm still popping Tums left and right...which makes me worry about the kidney stones others were talking about. My face went cold when I read that!! I've had to have them removed before because they were so big, and they can make childbirth look like a walk in the park. I will pray daily now that I won't get them!!! I haven't had alot of problems with the cold part yet, but my hormones are in such an uproar because of the weight loss that I don't think my internal thermastat has a hope or a prayer LOL. Such is life, it will get better.

    Thiamine Deficiency

Thanks so much for giving the info...I checked my subligual B12 complex and there isn't ANY B1 in it, and I checked my Centrum chewables and it says that it has 1.5 mg of Thiamin in it for 100%...but up above they said 500 mg?!? Vitamins are sooo confusing to me!! Good luck with it, and glad you are feeling better!
  24. It seemed like forever for me to go through the whole process of getting approved, but all in all after they turned it over to my insurance company it only took a couple of days for them to say yes. My surgeon's office made sure that I had all the stuff done and in order before they even turned it in so that it wouldn't get denied. Good luck!!
