    9-20-2011 sleeve date

Awwww, Panda! After reading all the posts, it appears life will get better for both of us. Maybe mine isn't super tight. Or maybe the fluids just go right thru me and therefore doesn't have a chance to fill me up much. Fyi......I found these shakes at MeijerMs called Pure Protein. If you drink two 11oz shakes a day you can easily get your 70g protein in. The flavors are chocolate and strawberry. Pretty tasty. 35g protein per 11oz can. If you don't have a Meijer by you, just google, Pure Protein!

    9-20-2011 sleeve date

Welcome to the 9/20 Sleeve Section! The lethergy for me has seemed to subside a little today. I added fat free cream soup as well as lowfat yogurt. I've also tried to get the majority of protein in......seems to help. In all honesty, I'm a tad bid concerned. You guys are having difficulty with intake cuz you are so full. But if I have chicken broth, I'm able to sip down 4oz without any problems. I can also do the same with half cup of jello or yogurt. I can easily get it down in ten minutes.

    9-20-2011 sleeve date

Things are going pretty well. I know what you mean about the protein. I feel so limited with what we are allowed to eat (drink) and feel very malnourished. At times I think I dehydrate myself and then feel weak, tired and light-headed. I'm pleased that there isn't much pain involved and I'm looking forward to just feeling like my old self again. Just curious, are you allowed clear liquids only, or are you allowed fuels with soups and pudding.? Ps congrats on your sleeve!

    Detroit Sleevers

Thank you for the good wishes, Cathi. Surgery was three days ago and your prayers were appreciated. Hospital stay was uneventful. I could've been discharged the following day but a severe migraine bought me one extra night. I'm home now and the recovery thus far isnt too bad. The most difficult time is waking up post op and feeling like a train wreck. This does pass and once my head cleared from the meds and anesthesia, things dramatically improved. I wish you luck in your approval process. Thank you, too, about the support group info. I will look into it and look forward to meeting you at the next one! Again, I think you are making a great decision to go with Hawasli and Group!
  6. Google lapbandtalk.com I had the band . In all fairness I had good results until it slipped, twice. The band was a nuisance but when it was positioned properly, and had the " sweet spot" I hadn't too many issues. I lost about a hundred pounds with it. After the slip, though, I developed quick weigh re-gain and severe reflux to where I was waking up in the midlle of the night cooking on acid and having it spill out my nose. It was horrendous. I was just sleeved three days ago and looking forward no longervdealing with the band.

Best Airlines for This Overweight One

First of all, congrats regarding the next step in your weight loss journey! As for the seat situation, my advice is this: if you need a seatbelt extender, then chances are you should purchase a second seat. I say this out of courtesy to both you and the person sitting beside you. You will want to be comfortable, and it is difficult to be comfortable when you are packed into a coach sized seat with everything spilling out everywhere, including onto the person sitting next to you. I would splurge and go for the first class seat. You deserve it and it will be a nice start for the new you!
  8. I am 39 years old and will be getting a sleeve on September 20, 2011. I was wondering if there is a website that anyone is aware of that is specific to bariatric patients. I imagine that it will be difficult to go on dates, as we can barely eat or drink anything. But having a date where the guy understands what you are going through ( because he had the same surgery) would be so much easier. Any suggestions.?

OT? Restless Leg Syndrome and Tylenol PM

I take a prescription called Mirapex. it initially came out to treat Parkinson Diseasea, but s now FDA approved to treat restless legs. It is a lifesaver . I take it at bedtime. I also take an extra dose before gettin on a plane or before going onlong car rides. If your primary care physician is not comfortable prescribing it, then go see a neurologist as this is their area of expertise.

    Detroit Sleevers

I am 38 years old and live in Clinton Township. Dr Hawasli did a lab band on me in 2008. I had amazing results, however, the band slipped after my pregnancy. I chose to have the band be re-positioned, knowing ahead of time that the likelihood of it slipping again would be high. My insurance didn't cover the sleeve so I really had no choice. As expected, the band did slip again. Dr Hawasli will be removing the band on Tuesday September 20, 2011 and replacing it with a sleeve. I trust Dr Hawasli with my life. He has an amazing reputation and he is passionate in all that he does. he is experienced and I highly recommend him. Of note, I have also been seen by his associates, Dr Migueed and Dr Harriett....... They, too, are wonderful, and I would be extremely comfortable with having them do my surgery as well. Dr Hawasli is the type of physician/surgeon, that would only have the "best" with regards to being partners with them! As for the practice, it is VERY busy. I would always go in there with the mentality of knowing I would have at least an hour and a half wait. To me, it was well worth it. Jan was always so helpful. Rebecca and Denise were also helpful. .........as for the others, well, not very helpful at all.
