    Unhappy With Life

I find that the actual DOING of something together, not just "date night", helps tremendously. For example, we cook together, we garden together, we target shoot together. He and I both have other interests that we do not share, but we each are supportive of the other in their own interests. It helps keep the individuals and the couple interested and interesting. But, passion fades. We don't swing from the chandeliers much anymore, but the love and commitment continue to deepen.
  2. I don't pee nearly as much as I used to, which was a lot. I take now and did before surgery two diuretics to help control blood pressure, but I must not be retaining as much Fluid as before because the peeing is a fraction of what it was before. I attribute that to a heckuva lot less sodium in the diet. Still, you might want to ask your doc.

    Vitamins

Thinking I would have difficulty swallowing pills, I bought all liquid supplements before my surgery. It turned out my sleeve didn't have enough room for all that thick liquid, and I can swallow pills just fine! So I changed to normal supplements but I do use gummy vitamins just because they're fun.

    Dizzy

Lilee84, How many carbs did the doc want you to have, and what was your actual intake? I stay in a constant state of ketosis, but I am not dizzy. I typically have around 40 to 50 grams of carbs per day. My instructions from the surgeon were to have under 100, but I lose weight better keeping the intake down. To the original poster, are you on any blood pressure medications? If so, they may now be too strong for you. I've had to cut back on mine.
  5. I am 59, and was really worried about having the surgery at my age, with several other exisiting medical conditions. I'm 5 weeks out, had not one complication other than a little blood pressure problem (normal for me!). I'm doing really well and can tolerate foods very well. And losing weight at a very nice rate. Don't worry - you will be fine! It's a great thing to do for yourself! Just try to relax and go with it. Keep us posted.
  6. I am 5 weeks out and while on soft foods I had the same experience as you. Every day I transition a little more to normal foods, and as I go I have noticed a little more restriction with normal foods, particularly meats. It was all I could do to eat my first salmon patty last night, but I did it! Man, was it good!! I also recently learned that stomachs come in all sizes, some little, some medium, some whoppers. If the stomach is short it has less capacity to begin with, then when sleeved, it is more narrow but the same length. A longer stomach, when sleeved, is more narrow, but is still long. So all of us have varying capacities even after being sleeved. I must have a long one! Maybe you do too.

    Got My Protein In!

Oh, I am so very sorry for your loss. A grandparent is such a strong and positive influence in one's life. I know you will miss her and cherish her memory forever.

    Got My Protein In!

Lilee84, I had to do a double take! All this time, I thought you were the lovely lady in your avatar.... then the comment about your pre-pregnancy pants confused me! Saw in your profile that you can NOT be that lady!

    Why Gastric Sleeve

What PDXMAN said, plus, with the sleeve you can still have endoscopic examination of the remaining stomach, whereas with bypass you cannot, according to my surgeon.

    Can't Stop Eating

Although your revived grief at anniversaries will lessen with time, it will never go away completely. I lost one 42 years ago, and it still hurts, but not as much as it did early on. Please, you've come so far, be mindful of what you must do for yourself, so you can do for your other two children. We are with you.

    Water Bottle

I am 4 weeks out and have used the Camelbak brand bottle you pictured since I was released from the hospital with absolutely no problems. Your experience may differ. That brand uses a bite valve to control flow, rather than a sucking motion.

Anyone Have A Breast Lift/reduction Before Wls?

Had it over 25 years ago. Was a B cup after the surgery, and was at a normal healthy weight. As I gained weight, I ended up in a DD cup, so the mere weight and years caused mild drooping. However, as I lose weight, I can plainly see that I will end up with big flat pancake boobs, and intend to have it redone after reaching goal. From your photo you appear to be much younger than I am, so you may fare better.
  15. I like fage 0%, which is a Greek yogurt. Look up the nutrition facts at www.fageusa.com. I like the plain variety. It's not too sweet, not too tart, is not runny, but not chalky thick either. It can be sweetened with Splenda or other sweeteners, including sugr-free flavored syrups such as Torani. I buy it in the family-size container so I can use only what I want at the time.
  16. Four weeks out, no regrets so far, don't expect any! I agree with Rootman - Full to Overflowing!!! I burst off the elevator at work each morning with something ridiculous and out loud, such as: "Good morning, Viet Nam!" or singing, "I'm walking on sunshine..." or singing "What a day for a daydream.." you get the picture. I was happy fat, happier getting unfat! Already dropped three of four hypertension meds! Pants are too big! Face looks younger! Walked through Walmart instead of riding the buggy yesterday! What's not to sing about???
  17. What a difference 30 pounds makes!!!

    Scale Shopping

My scale measures body fat, lean muscle, Water, etc in addition to weight. It's a Tanita brand, got it from Amazon. It's the same brand my bariatric center uses, just not as big. I weigh second thing every morning (pee first) and record my weight. I record the fat, muscle and physical tape measurements just once a month.

    Lexington Ky

I live in Frankfort! Dr. Weiss did my sleeve on March 14, 2012 at Central Baptist. I stayed two nights - blood pressure went haywire. No problems since.
  20. All I can add to what the others have said is that about half the people I met and still meet in the bariatric center are either having the band removed or revised to sleeve. I am almost 4 weeks post-op with no problems and no regrets, and no, my gall bladder was not removed.
  21. Nope. I got overweight based on WHAT I ate, not how MUCH I ate. Sweets, sweets and more sweets. Nevertheless, end result was the same! Thankfully, sweets have no appeal anymore!
  22. Three weeks out and feeling great! Prior to surgery, I researched for months and in spite of being very well educated about the procedure and its life-changing impact, I was filled with fear and dread that I might be one of the few who just don't fare well afterwards. In particular, I feared nausea, vomiting, aversion to food sight and smells, and to never wanting to cook for family and friends again. Not to mention blood clots, dying... you know the list... I guess I kept my end of my deal with Fate... if I worry enough, think ahead enough, prepare enough, then the bad things I worry about just won't happen! I am able to tolerate every food I've tried so far, I don't have to take teeny sips and bitty bites, I can already hold 8 oz. Soup, I've had not one moment of nausea, have not vomited once, and the worst pain of the surgery was the blasted shoulder pain from the gas. I do tire easily and have trouble sleeping from arthritic pain (still off arthritis meds for three more weeks!). I write this to encourage those whose decisions may be delayed by fear. This is not to discourage thorough research and education, and not to make light of the risks. I do think we read more about problems than successes just because it is natural to look for help online rather than to post victories online. Oh, and losing from half pound to a pound every day!!! Yay!
  23. Can't offer any help, don't even have a date yet! But I truly appreciate everyone sharing the bad times as well as the good ones, so that those of us still on this side of the sleeve can anticipate what might be in store for us. I don't want the poster of the shakes document to become inundated with requests for the file, but I can't download it either. I get a message saying that I do not have permission to view this file. Rather than pester the poster, can someone please explain what is causing the error message? Thanks, and good luck to all!
