I'm back and mad as hell!

Geez. I always feel guilty when I read things like this. Not one thing went wrong. I'm sorry it went that way for you, and like the previous posters, hope you continue to make progress, accept it and live happily ever after. Thanks for posting, as those in the research stage need to know it can and does happen.

    Silly question really

Yep, I would break a sweat turning over at night, or just getting up out of bed. I rarely sweat now, and only after real exertion. I was terribly cold the first few months, starting immediately after surgery. It has leveled out some now, over a year out. I still am cold when I first go to bed, and now I struggle all night with hot/cold hot/cold hot/cold. They say grhelin (however it's spelled) regulates body temperature, and we lose most of ours. Oh, well, small price to pay.
  8. And the smile got bigger and bigger!

    Any Kentucky Sleevers?

Yep, Dr. Weiss. Love him. Last time I saw him was as he released me from the hospial. That's a good thing, if you never see him again!

Hubby's coming home in 2 months

Lingerie, sweetie. Get some. You can shop online for a larger selection, and in private. It does wonders for one's confidence.
  12. And YES, I would absolutely do this again!! I know I'm in the happy 98%, and I feel very badly for the unhappy 2%, but I would take that chance again and again. I was well-informed, mentally and emotionally prepared, and I've been successful. But I was scared as heck. From the moment I subconsciously decided to go for it until I was about 9 - 10 months out. I still let fear creep in that even now, over a year out, something just might go wrong. But ya know what? Even if it does go wrong, everything was already going wrong. I was getting unhealthier by the day. I was going to die. I'm still going to die. I'm just gonna die a whole lot happier and healthier. And please, I am not making light of any WLS casualties, but those people were like me, getting more unhealthy and already dying from it. They took a chance on improving their lot, and it didn't pay off. And they may have gotten even more unhealthy, or died, like Phyllis, but she/they may have met the same fate anyway, just by a different mechanism. Again, not making light of any of it, just saying it was worth taking the chance.
  13. About the hair loss, it is temporary. It grows back. About going out, I don't understand why you choose to live alone and not go out!! Just eat what you can hold and enjoy the rest of the outing. Perhaps the big mistake was not in having the surgery but in changing your story. If your friends and family knew you had the surgery, then you and they would move on past that awkward moment, and you could easily explain why you eat less than they do, and everyone could just come to terms with it all. After the newness, no one pays any attention to what and how much I eat, because they know why. I'm sorry that you find yourself so unhappy. I don't mean this to be another mean and ugly comment. I just want you to know that you can still turn this into a positive thing. Just come clean. Then move on.

    hip covered?

Don't know what "hip" is, never heard of it, but the best thing to do is to ask hip.
  15. I guess it's just such a personal decision and we are all different in our make up and circumstances. I never for a moment thought NOT to tell about my surgery. I told my family, friends, coworkers, and boss. I've told every single person who has commented on my weight loss. I had two folks voice concern and fear pre-surgery, but not one person has made unkind or thoughtless comments. Not one person has declared it the easy way out. Not one person has suggested I should have done otherwise.

    Will my libido return?

Probably not a good idea. Based on some studies, certain classes of women were advised to cease testosterone therapy, and I was one of them. I forget what the concern was, but you really should let a doctor handle this. Dont mean to be preachy, just saying...

    Will my libido return?

That was years ago, sorry I cant remember!

    Will my libido return?

Did you have a total hysterectomy? Ovaries gone? If so, then what you are missing is testosterone. Testosterone is what is responsible for libido in both men and women, and is made primarily in the ovaries in women. If this is your case, you may want to speak to your physician about changing your hormone therapy to include testosterone. I used to take Estratest, which was an estrogen plus testosterone. It did indeed restore the libido.

    Eating at work

Most folks seem not to like them but I loved the ready to drink Muscle Milk protein shakes. I brought them to work. I also brought Laughing Cow cheese wedges, tuna salad or pimento cheese in small containers, and ate all those with 4-8 Special K crackers. I still bring cottage cheese to work, plus almonds and peanuts in small portions. And I eat a raw cucumber every day, peeled and sliced, but I'm further along than you. I also bring nowadays two cheese slices and 10-12 pepperoni slices. And a Quaker Chewy something or the other, but I need the calories and carbs.

    VSG with BMI under 40

I was jut under 40 BMI, with a gazillion cormorbidities. My insurance does not cover any WLS, regardless of medical need or comorbidities, so I paid myself. My surgeon's criteria, with or without insurance, was BMI of at least 40, or BMI of 35 with cormorbidities.
