Can you eat peanut butter, yes or no??

You mix 2 tablespoons of powdered peanut butter with 1 tablespoon of water for a sandwich. It's so good. Just like fresh peanuts without all the other added things that are bad for us. Also, you can mix it directly into whatever kind of jelly you like for PB and J! Awesome. I use the real fruit jelly with no sugar added or sugar free.

I use the powdered peanut butter. PB2 it is called! Wonderful for the peanut butter taste. It tastes like fresh roasted peanuts. Ony 50 calories for 2 tablespoons and 4.8 grams of protein. Tastes great!

    The Bullet

I got mine at Wal-mart for about $60. You can also order online and get 2 for $99 I think. I would not be able to function without mine. I used it to make my own cream soups during the pre-op liquids and post-op liquids phases. It is so wonderful for the protein shakes. I put a little ice in with mine and it makes it so much better. They are well worth the money. I actually bought a second one for when I wear the first one out. Much easier than a blender because you can drink right out of the container you mix it in. Saves a lot of dish washing!

I had to stay in the hospital the first night due to nausea. Never had vomiting, thanks to some medicine they gave me. Dr. Adams thinks it was just the anesthesia. I am down almost 10 pounds since coming home. I was on clear liquids for the first 5 days and now and I can move to phase II which is full liquids. Starting to get a little strength back now and not as sore. I still have the steri-strips on the incisions, 5 of them. They seem to be pretty stuck. He just said to put band-aids on when they come off but I wonder how long it is good for them to be on there. Anyone have any experience with this?

My surgery was scheduled for today but Dr. Adams thought that with being on antibiotics for sinus infection we better postpone it for now. I am discouraged about having to do 10 more days of the pre-op liquids. I have done 2 weeks already and lost 18 pounds. I am trying to hang in there but it is really hard! They called me and said my new date is 3/29/07. Another countdown is on!

I hope I still can have surgery tomorrow. I will be finished with my pre-op diet and down 18 pounds in 2 weeks. However, I had to start an antibiotic this weekend for sinus and chest congestion troubles. I will find out this afternoon if they will still let me get the surgery. It is some better but I dread coughing after surgery. Did anyone else get sick before the surgery? What did your doctor do? Thanks!:think

I am on day 9 of pre-op and have lost 13 pounds! I will be so glad when March 20 arrives! I am ready for this! Tired of liquids but at least I am allowed to have mashed potatoes during the pre-op. They just have to be runny. The first 3 days I kept asking myself "what are you doing" and " you must be crazy" for wanting this surgery. Then the headaches went away and I am pretty adjusted now. The only thing that really bothers me is going to the grocery store and having to smell the bakery and deli departments. The food smells so good but I am really not hungry. I saw my nutritionist on Monday and she told me to just make sure I am getting 60-80 grams of Protein. She said this will keep the nails, skin, and hair health and keep the hair from coming out. She said in her experience most people don't lose the hair until 3-6 months after surgery. She said this is because people get slack with making sure they are eating protein. I am sure going to listen to what she said. Good luck to everyone! I am counting the days! Angie:)

Today is day 7 of pre-op diet. I am halfway through. That means only 7 days until surgery day! I can hardly wait! I have already lost 10 pounds on this liquid diet phase. My wonderful husband actually did the liquid diet all weekend with me for support. He has been great. I have an appointment with my nutritionist this afternoon at 3:00. Can't wait to hear what she has to say. Since I am self-pay this is the first time I have had to see her. Maybe she will explain the diet plan in a little better detail than just reading the handouts from my surgeon. Good look to all of you who are being banded this week. You are in my thoughts and prayers!

    Hello from Alabama!

I am trying to gather everything I need for the post-op diet. Dr. Adams requires 2 oz. of Diabetishield 4 times a day for the first 6 days. I have not been able to find this anywhere and no one seems to know what I am talking about. Can anyone help? What store might have this in Decatur or Moulton? Thanks!

Hello! My surgery is 3/20/07. I started my 2 week liquid pre-op diet this morning. I am doing OK so far. Just a little headache. Good luck to everyone getting their band this month! Can't wait to hear all the great reports:)

    Getting banded

I start my pre-op liquids tomorrow. I am a little bit nervous about the emotional aspects of having only liquids for 2 weeks, but I have a lot of friends praying for my success. My surgery date is 3/20/07. I can't wait! I am 35 years old and have been overweight my entire life. I am ready to be healthy for a change. I lost my brother 7/29/05 and that has changed my life forever. We were having lunch together with my mom and just about to leave the restaurant when he fell backwards in his chair and died right before my eyes. He was only 36. They told us that his aorta ruptured and he died immediately as a result of that. Talk about a scary thing! I sure don't want to end up with the same kind of problem. My surgeon told me he would never have gastric bypass if he were the patient and had to make a choice. He said he would only have lap band because of the safety issues. He highly recommended it. I am using Dr. Adams in Decatur, Alabama. I am a self pay at the price of $11,600 since BCBS of AL does not pay for the surgery. This price includes the hospital, anesthesia, surgeon and surgeon's care for 1 year.

    Got my surgery date!

Hello everyone! I have my surgery date now--March 20 at 12:00 noon. I am starting my liquid diet on March 6. Looking forward to the surgery but still a little nervous about everything. My mom really doesn't want me to get the surgery done, but says she will still support my decision. My husband does support the decision but sometimes is not very much support. Well, I know prayer is what will get me through. Thanks for all the support we get from these message boards.

Glad to see some people on here from Alabama. I live in Moulton, Alabama. My surgeon is Dr. Gregory Adams in Decatur, AL. I will have my last consult on the 28th of February and then we will schedule surgery for 2-3 weeks later, which will be sometime in March. I wanted to do it sooner but I just had gallbladder surgery on 12/11/06 and Dr. Adams wanted me to wait another 6 weeks. I am anxious but nervous about the whole process. Would love to hear your experiences.

I am a self-pay patient because BCBS of Alabama considers the procedure investigational. My doctor said he would not have gastric bypass if he had to make the choice for himself. He highly recommended lap band. I will return to Dr. Adams on 2/28/07 for my pre-op visit and my surgery will be scheduled for 2 weeks later. Dr. Adams is in Decatur Alabama. I have not heard anything about liquids before the surgery. Is this something everyone has to do?
