  1. I had my sugery 9-1-11 and lost a little then nothing. I got my first fill 9-21 and really haven't noticed a big difference. I go back to the Dr. on 10-12 and I am pretty sure I will be getting another fill. Because I can eat more than I should be able to.

  2. I had no shoulder pain and no gas pains either, just incision pain. My sister had the shoulder pain bad. She said it hurt worse than the surgery pain. I was sore the first week and honestly didn't weigh myself so I don't know about any weight loss. The second week I felt really good though and able to do more. Don't worry it will come off soon.

I was banded yesterday and knew about the possible gas pains and should pain, but don' thave them. I do have some pain (more discomfortlike) on the left side of my abdomen and in the center where the largest incision was made. Is this normal?

I also don't show that I've lost an ounce even though I have been on clear liquids or a Water diet. Just wondering if others had this right after surgery and if their weight dropped soon.

Thank you for all the advice...I truly enjoy reading the forum.

  3. How many cc's did he put in? My Dr. puts numbing medicine in first which stings like a mother. I didn't feel that instant fullness which is why I'm asking how much Fluid he put in.My Dr. put 2 cc's in. I am giving it two weeks and if I need it I'm going back for another fill. All my fills are free for the first 90 days then it's $150 a pop which isn't bad considering my sisters Dr. charges $300 a fill. I also didn't feel like the Water went down any slower. My son and I have been hiking on the weekends and I find it to be a better work out than just walking the nieghborhood and more interesting, waterfalls and such.Good luck to you!

I WAS BANDED ON AUGUST 31ST AND HAD MY FIRST FILL ON THURSDAY SEPT 22ND! WOW, WAS THAT AN INTERESTING EXPERIENCE! BESIDES, THE UNEXPECTED STICK OF THE NEEDLE, THE INSTANT FULLNESS THAT I FELT WAS AMAZING!

THE DR HAD ME DRINK SOME WATER RIGHT AFTER AND I WAS FREAKED OUT HOW MUCH SLOWER THE WATER WENT DOWN!

I WAS ON LIQUIDS FOR 2 DAYS AFTER AND IM FEELING PRETTY GOOD. HAD SOME Soup FOR dinner LASTNIGHT AND HAVE TO ADMIT, I HAVE TO EAT SLOWER AND REALLY PAY ATTENTION DURING THE MEAL. IVE REALIZED THAT I NEVER REALLY PAYED ATTENTION TO HOW MUCH food AND DRINK I WAS GULPING BEFORE SURGERY! IM STILL GETTING USED TO NOT DRINKING WHILE EATING (WHICH IS HARD FOR ME) BUT IM ADAPTING. IM DOWN 16 LBS SINCE MY SURGERY DATE AND KNOW THAT WITH MORE EXERCISE I CAN LOSE MORE! I DONT FEEL THAT IM EATING RIGHT. NOW THAT IM ON THE SOFTER/MUSH FOODS, IM TRYIN TO EAT MORE AND HEALTHIER. THIS LEARNING PHASE IS HARD BUT GETTING BETTER. STAYING FOCUSED IS A BIG DEAL NOW AND I KNOW ITS THE ONLY WAY I WILL SEE THE RESULTS I WANT. TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS IS 22 LBS SINCE MY PRE SURGERY APT AND I DONT FEEL IT YET. THIS FIRST MONTH WAS INTERESTING AND I CAN ONLY HOPE THE NEXT MONTHS ARE EASIER, BETTER AND SHOW SOME KIND OF RESULTS!

  4. Are you on all liquids. I am so lucky because my Dr. had me on soft foods 3 days postop and solids 5 days postop. I can drink 2 of the lemonaid and unflavored Protein Powder. But my Dr.wants me to get my Protein intake through regular food. I drink one a day to help with my daily protein intake. Anyone that says weight loss surgery is the easy way out needs to be smacked upside the head.:D

The shakes i'm drinking is Nutra-Bio chocolate and vanilla. Haven tried the unflavored but need to get through those first cuz they are 5lb can!! The morning shake is fine for me because i'm usually not hungry in the mornings. The second and especially the third are what make me sick and gag........i'm sick of them and i'm hungry. I would do away with at least one of them and have something else instead but i'm afraid won't get the 60g protein a day that i'm supposed to have.

  5. I had to be on 3 shakes a day and one small meal the first week before surgery and then just 4 shakes the next week. I was eating soft food 3 days after my surgery and regular food 5 days postop. My sisters Dr. was different. She only had to be on Clear Liquids the day before the day of and one day after surgery but was a month before she could eat solid food after her sugery. Every Dr. is different. None of the things you mentioned happened to me so I would just keep in touch with your Dr. Hope you feel better real soon.

  6. That is amazing. I had heard that the TT is one of the most painfull plastic surgery procedures. I have and Aunt that did it and she says it wasn't too bad. Another friend did it and she said it was the worst pain she ever had. Wondering what you think. You really look great.

  7. I was banded on September 1st too. I have lost 25 lbs. How have you been doing? I had my first fill on the 21st.

I will be banded on September 1st so looking for support and someone to share the journey with. I have not been told anything about the pro op diet. I actually have my pre op day on August 30 and get banded on September 1st. I hope they let know me know anything I need to be doing soon. My BMI is 32 so I am opting to pay for my surgery with a combination insurance because of the hietal hernia. Congratulations to us on choosing to make a life sytle change. Look forward to your suppor

    t.

  8. Congratulations. I had my surgury on 9-1-11 I have lost 25 pounds. I had my first fill this past Wed. didn't hurt just a very weird feeling. I can see a difference now in how much I can eat and I stay full longer. I think it helps not drinking Water during my meal. I follow that to the T. My Dr. suggests no drinking 20 min before a meal none during the meal and none an hour after the meal. That has been my hardest adjustment. I hope all goes well with your surgery.

  9. I am new to this site. Just signed up today. I am about a month post ep from my surgery and it is the best thing I have ever done. I wish I had done it 10 years ago which would have made me 31 years old. I was denied by insurance so I had to selfpay. The only plus to that is everything moves much quicker when you aren't dealing with and insurance agency. I hope everything goes great for you and a November surgery date. You will have something big to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. Wishing the best for you! Stacy

I have been looking at this site for several weeks (my husband says I am kinda obsesed...lol), as well as other sites trying to find one where I can feel comfortable posting as well as getting positive feedback and answers to my questions. I have to say, everyone here is so positive and uplifting and I have learned so much already just looking around. I cannot wait to continue to learn more as I get deeper into the discussions and find support as my surgery date gets closer. I have never thought about having weight loss surgery till my husband and I went to see a fertility specialist and were told that my weight (along with having PCOS) is the main factor preventing us from getting pregnant. As I sat in his office sobbing, feeling embarrassed and down on myself, he told me about the Lap Band procedure. He said that it was a lifestyle change and that he has several overweight patients that have had the procedure and have not needed fertility treatments. When I got in the car, I dried my tears, took a deep breath and called the doctors office and reserved my space in the next information session the following week. We have been trying to get pregnant for over 5 years...this could be my answer to not only starting a family, but a change that will make me healthy for years to come! I started my journey in May 2011 by attending an information session, then my first consultation appointment with my doctor. I was informed at that time that my insurance requires a 6 month waiting period (which from reading on here is fairly common). I was upset that I had to wait, but these past several months have been months of reflection. I have worked hard on changing my eating habits, exercising 5-6 times a week and working with a trainer twice a week. My husband has been my biggest supporter and number one cheerleader. Looking back, I am thankful for this time of reflection and time to get my eating and exercise on track. I am an emotional eater and turn to food for comfort. I now try to turn to other things like exercise, reading, and yes, surfing this site gathering information. I still struggle with a fair amount of emotional eating and/or making bad choices, but from where I was the begining of the year, it is much improved. I have completed all of the required appointments (labs, therapist, sleep study, nutritionist, etc.) and my last supervised doctors appointment is on October 10th. I am keeping my fingers crossed for surgery in November. Everything checked out great with the exception of having mild/moderate sleep apnea, which I am having a hard time dealing with. I have had my cpap machine for a week and am still trying to get use to it. I am also going on a thrift store hunt this weekend so I can stop spending so much money on clothes as I loose weight. I am 31 years old and have so much life to live. I have been heavy all my life, but have been watching the scale go down the past several months...and will continue to watch it go down. I am so ready to see what the future holds...and I cannot wait to be able to go out and do the activities I miss doing, but I am too self conscious or heavy to do like roller coasters, Water parks, race cars, etc. I am doing this surgery for me, with fantastic plans for the future, and a healthy, long life! So I will end by saying an official hello, and I hope I can be as helpful and encouraging to others on here, as I know you all will be to me!
