You are too tight!!.. please see your doctor and advise him of this problem. YES! The band can 'slip' due to this type of problem. Stay with liquids a minimum of 24 hrs, maybe longer. Try warm liquids, slowly.. Please keep us posted!

My goodness! God bless you, you poor girl! I am SO sorry to hear of all this. Having Systemic Lupus and related clotting disorder/vasculitis, I can very much relate to alot of what you're going through. I sincerely hope you get favorable results from your tests and you are heading into smooth sailing again soon! You will definitely be in my prayers!!

Ozzy was MY first concert too! With Black Sabbath.. 1979. I love him! Yea, I'm old... either that or my first concert, I was really really young! lol. Can't do the sun anymore, but I still do the occasional concert.

Yikes, Becky.. wow. Be careful! Phenergran is a very strong drug. I would encourage all persons banded to carry some sort of anti-emetic or keep it on hand. That being said, I find it very interesting that in the 3 years of being banded, I have NEVER had those sick nauseous feelings I used to have when I hadn't eaten for long periods. (Knocking on wood here). I have not had one bout of stomach virus AT ALL, which is great! I used to have at least one round a year or so with some 24 hr bug and thankfully, since being banded I've avoided that. Don't ask me how.. perhaps it has to do with living alone and not being exposed? I have, however, heard of numerous folks who've had severe bouts of vomiting and lost their bands due to severe slippage.

Anne Marie, This is not a problem with your new band. It will allow you to eat whatever you want post op/pre fill. It is up to you not to put it in there. You do NOT need a fill in order to cause slippage. Slippage can happen from the first moment you have a band inserted. Is it common?? No. Slippage is still about a 3% occurence, overall (according to the last statistics I heard). It is not 'that easy' to stretch a pouch and probably near impossible pre-fill. I think that's what the doctor was saying. You currently have NO fill and you're eating more than you think you should - hence, no restriction, so, no pouch stretching. The food is currently slipping right on through. It is not being 'dammed' up above the band(in too large quantities or for too long a period of time) which is the only way to begin stretching the pouch. Yes, your doctor does create a 'pouch' above the band during surgery, but there is often NO restriction beneath it, until the fill has been put in. Hope this helps to clarify for you. You're still pretty new post-op. Could it be that you may be dealing with a bit of post-op depression? I truly hope you'll bounce back soon. Sounds like you're doing all the right things! Keep your chin up and if you see that this continues, I'd definitely talk to my doctor. Feel better..

Glad to hear you're home! As said, this too shall pass! The first 5 days were the hardest for me, some say it took a little longer, some less. Some folks swear by sleeping in a recliner. Not being able to sleep and being in pain too , very frustrating. Could be your bodies reaction to surgery, anesthesia, .. your general state of mind. It's not even uncommon to pass through a small post op depression (which can cause a lack of sleep OR too much). I generally would take my liquid painkiller (ie liquid tylenol, vicodin, etc) right before bed and managed. I'll be this time next week you'll be doing much better!! :mad:

So I took my situation and put a positive spin on it instead of seeing it as negative. I told myself the following things: 1. I am beautiful on the inside Umm... You are beautiful on the OUTSIDE too!!! Change that affirmation to I AM BEAUTIFUL. period.. Hugs gf, I sit not too far from where you are sitting and I can't imagine having to face the decisions/concerns/questions you are currently facing. Whatever you come up with, God don't make no junk.. and you are and will always be beautiful.. inside and out.:hug:

I would not encourage you to go on Water alone. carnation instant Breakfast isn't really considered a 'protein' drink, but it is a great way to get in some Vitamins and Protein. I mix it with High Protein milk and it's a treat to me, but I can see how it would get old fast if it's all the choice I had to drink. Can you add other things like Soups, etc? Keep your chin up!

my band was actually slipped and had to be replaced.. this due to the overfill..

See attached: 1st xray showing how the band is TOO tight and the pouch bulging above the band in a 'bowl-like' structure. Because the band is too tight below the pouch, the pouch can become distended and stretched due to no food being able to move through adequately. Hope this helps to visualize what can happen if you become too tight. The second xray shows that the pouch can be returned to normal.

I definitely hope you contacted the police. This guy assaulted you and should be prosecuted as such. It's unfortunate, that in today's world, it's unsafe to stop and render aid or try to come to someone's rescue if they're being abused. I applaud you for intervening, but I'm sorry for what happened in the outcome. Heal quickly and please, file charges. People should not be allowed to get by with this behavior. God bless..

Some people are definitely 'feeders'. Misery loves company, or they equate 'love' with food. I have people in my family that constantly stuff everyone around them. Aunts who raised their kids saying 'are you hungry', instead of 'I love you'.. lol, Do I LOOK hungry?? I think maybe the Dad is as developmentally challenged as his daughter??

Poor thing.. I sure hope they watch that Coumadin, bumping it up for that many days will surely cause her to be too high pretty quickly. Christina! God bless you and make them monitor that blood level closely until you're regulated (which I'm sure they will). Also, in some cases, they can allow you a self monitor, sort of like a diabetic has. I travel for work, so I have one and it's the greatest thing! They're very expensive and many docs won't okay it, but some do. I love having mine. It really keeps my mind at ease, taking such a critical drug. ((HUGS)) gf and keep walking!!

There are some docs who require Lovenox routinely, to prevent any surprises overall. Just because you don't have a history, does not mean you cannot have a clot following any surgery. I would think this would particularly apply to the obese. Like, Elizabeth, I'm on Coumadin for DVT/PE. I took Lovenox 5 days prior and again after my lapband surgery, until I was able to get my Coumadin level therapeutic again.

I would definitely encourage him to go ahead and repair it while he's there. Unrepaired hiatal hernias and slippage seem to go hand in hand. Better to do it the first time in. You'll never know he touched it. Good luck!

God blessed me with this exact type of gift 8 years ago when I desperately needed something better in my life. My company took me, trained me and has paid me to travel the country since day one and how I'm still here, I often wonder. My job is pretty specialized, however, and I would have never gotten it without my prior hospital Materials experience and availability to travel 95%, ie, no small children, pets, etc at home. It's just my opinion, but because of my lack of formal education and marketable skills, this was a one in a million, divine providence happening. Companies just have too much competition with degreed professionals for this to happen too often. I certainly wish you luck!!

You may have some swelling after your fill. Did you remain on liquids the first day or so? Also, with restriction, you may notice some new sensations, especially after eating. Many folks aren't aware the food will now stay above the band, more in the esophagus area, which will lead to new sensations higher than the stomach. If you notice extreme 'pain', or are unable to swallow, especially liquids consult your physician. Hope you're feeling better soon and onto easier weight loss!
