    PPI FYI

Thanks for the info! My insurance covers the PPI as a tier 3 which costs $50 for one month supply. I'll check out Target to see if I can get it for a bit cheaper. I also like the idea of spending the rest shopping afterward!

    Post Op pain

HI Roz - I just had my surgery on the 15th. 1. Did you have a lot of pain? Do you have a surgical history? The first 2 days were pretty tough - not just because of pain but because of the pain medicine which made me feel so woozy and the lack of sleep in the hospital. Right after surgery I had a lot of nausea also which didn't feel good. I've had 3 c-sections. 2. Did you have a preop diet to shrink your liver? Yes, I had to do 2 weeks of liquid except for a dinner of 4oz Protein and veggies - I lost 8 lbs. 3. Did you keep up your pain medication? I religiously pressed the morphine button at the hospital for the first 2 days. By the 3rd day I was given another medication to relieve pain and I liked that it didn't make me so out of it so I just relied on that and stopped with the morphine. I also got a nausea patch behind my ear which helped a lot. When I got home I took Tylenol for days 4-5 both morning and night but now I just take some at night. 4. How old are you? I am 39 Good luck!

First sleevers, how is everyone doing?

Trizzy - have you tried unflavored protein like from Unjury? I've been putting that in my soup broth and it has 20g protein. Doesn't really change the flavor of the soup and seems like an easier way than drinking the horrible pseudo-chocolate shakes!
  4. Good wishes and prayers for all of this week's sleevers!

    Things I now know

Too funny! I am 6 days post op and am not hungry at all either. I have to force myself to get in the liquid & protein. I do feel quick a restriction between my front ribcage at times. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just the tightness of the sleeve with the swelling? I am a tiny bit concerned because when they did the post op xrays to check for leaks they didn't find one but said that my stomach was not draining as quickly as it should. The doctor said that once the swelling goes down it will hopefully go away. I expected some restriction but not this much. Thanks!

    Sleevers 15th-20th

I had my surgery on the 15th and I am doing alright. I do feel a lot of inner restriction which makes it hard to get all of the liquid i need. So far sugar free popsicles are my best friend - they feel good going down. I'm wondering if everyone feels the tightness in between the front rib cage that I do. It is not all of the time but I do feel it often. I have no pain and am able to sleep well on my side. I haven't taken the meds in 2 days. Hope everyone else is doing well and good luck to all the sleevers for next week! Katie

just got sleeved 3 hours ago!

I was sleeved on 8/15 at Brigham & Women's Boston. The recovery in the first day or two was definitely difficult - if I am honest it was harder than I expected and I've had 3 c-sections! The first day I was in a considerable amount of pain but I had button I could push to get medicine when I needed it and that helped. It also kept me from getting a good night sleep though because I could only doze for 10-15 minutes and then wake again. Day was also difficult - I was pretty out of it but I did get up and walk and go down for my x-rays. They said I did not have a leak but that my stomach was not draining into the intestines as quickly as they'd like. I had to slowly sip water and I was not allowed to go to stage 2 until yesterday (day 3). I did tolerate the food for the most part on day 3 and by the evening I felt pretty good and asked to go home when my husband came to visit. I was discharged and came home to a great night's sleep. Today, my first day at home, I am going to concentrate on sipping, walking and resting. Good luck to all of you!

What to expect 2 months out?

I'd like to hear from others on this too. I have a conference to go to in about 2 months and I want to have an idea of what I might feel like and be eating, etc. Thanks!
