  1. Wow, I am so glad to hear how well your numbers went down following surgery, clk and Kemo46! That really encourages me! I am on 1000mg of Metformin daily and look forward to the day I will not take it anymore. My surgeon told me that I will stop the Metformin right before surgery and will not be put back on it after surgery; because the success rate is so high for controlling the diabetes. I am glad both of you posted, makes my day :)

  2. I have diabetes and I am scheduled for the sleeve in Jan. My doctor never mentioned to me that the bypass was better than the sleeve for diabetes; BUT my friend who has diabetes that is not control currently was told the bypass would be the best option for her AND we go to the same doctor. I have an appointment with the doctor next week after my pre op testing is done and I am going to ask him why he told my friend that see should think about the bypass because of her diabetes. My diabetes is controlled now with medication but I am worried about down the road and years to come if my diabetes will get worse. I have a strong family history of diabetes. I do not want the bypass but I also do not want diabetes anymore.

  3. Hi, I am in the same boat with getting sleeved around the holidays. I will actually be on my Pre-op diet during Thanksgiving. I am the one who make the Turkey for our family. I am alittle nervous about it but determined to get sleeved. I will be interested in what others have to say about being sleeved around the holidays.

  4. Hi, I am glad this subject came up and the responses are wonderfully well- put to, to ease our anxieties. I am scheduled to have the gastric sleeve next month and my anxieties get higher each day until I found thisforum. My cousin who had the Lap Band has gone through the same worries around 6 mos post op. It maybe fairly common to have these post op worries, but when we have a worry this is a great support system which is at our finger tips!

  5. I just got some samples of Protein shakes for my nutritionist. I tried Nectar- Fuzzy Navel- Yuk, but it did taste better if you get it cold first. This morning I tried nectar chocolate Truffle, not too bad but it has splenda in it. Splenda upset my stomach. I will be on a two week pre-op diet. I will start that on Nov. 14th. I am like you.... so excited and nervous. Lots of Anxiety.

I will be in the hospital until Friday. I have not tried any Protein Shakes yet. What have you tried so far? How much of a pre op diet do you have to do? My doc said one week but I may start the 1st of November just to be safe. I am so excited and nervous!!!!
