Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???

Pam Good luck tomorrow! I know you will do great and once it is over you will be so enthusiastic about the upcoming changes in your life. I know everything will be just fine. I cant remember where you said you were having your surgery, but the nurses at Renown South Meadows were so fantastic and helpful and caring. It is ok to ber nervous. The surgery part will all be over soon and you can start your new life. And like Chris said make sure that you are #1 during recovery. Take it easy and stay on top of your pain meds. Dont miss a dose the first few days. Once your pain gets out of control it is hard to get it back under control. So take it every 4 hours (or whatever your script says) so that you are not miserable. Pam take care and you will be in my thoughts.

Hey Chris I do not think that you should have a big meal the day before surgery, no one ever told me that. And you are right we are on a liquid diet preop. Are you all going home the same day of your surgery? After I woke up I went for an xray and then went back to postop and then went home, I was at the hospital at 6:00 and home by 1:30. Pam I go back to work tomorrow. I am a bit nervous about being on my feet again all day, but I know eveything will go ok. I have my postop appointment today at 2:15. I wish you both the best of luck. I know you will do great!

Hey Chris, You should be so proud of yourself. I lost 18 pounds on the Bariatrix, but still went ahead with surgery. Surgery is the answer for long term goals and long term health. You keep up the good work!

Yes I can tell a little bit of a difference. In my past experience though I tend not to feel or show anything until I lose about 35 to 40 pounds, which is kind of dissapointing, but such is life. Are you ready for your big day! Just a few days away. I was so excited the few days before surgery at one point I started to count down the hours. This is such an exciting life changing experience!

    February 2007 bandsters!

I am also having sleeping problems, does anyone have any ideas. I have been sleeping on my back and I am usually a side sleeper, but for obvious reasons that is not appropriate at this time. I also am having the same "port pain" as described above by someone else. All of my pain is gone except for that little irritation. Any ideas that anyone has to offer would be greatly appreciated. I was banded on February 12!

Egg whites are fantastic! Pam your grocery list sounds fantastic. Make sure that you also get enough liquids. Besides water my favorite right now is Diet Ocean Spray. It comes in little bottles and 33.8oz bottles, there are 4 servings per container and only 5 calories perserving and only 2g of sugar. It comes in Cranberry Spray and Orange Citrus Spray. The orange is my favorite! I also like the Gatorade Propel drinks. I have heard that the liquid vitamins taste just awful and that people have preferred the chewable by Centrum. Please let us know your opinon on the liquid. Well you all have a good day. I have my postop appointment tomorrow and I go back to work on Wednesday. If I dont talk to you all later this week good luck with your surgeries and I hope all goes well.:clap2:

Yes I am still drinking the Bariatrix shakes. I found the sugar free flavorings at Raleys. They were down the coffee and tea isle. I have found vanilla to be the best. Pam depending on your pain and comfort level I should think that you would be ok to go to the auction on Saturday. I would make sure that you have a place to sit though incase you get lightheaded or anything like that.

Hello there! I was also banded on February 12! I still have a little bit of pain on the incision where my port is and after I have been sitting for a bit I have some pain when I stand up. But all in all I am doing much better and I am very excited about this new life journey. Congratulations to you!

I am feeling great! Today is the first day that I can actually say I just about feel 100% better! I am so excited! I just can't wait to get back to the gym. I have my post op appointment on Tuesday and I am hoping he will say it is ok to go back. Eatting is going pretty well. I am on a diet of Cream of Wheat, Applesauce, scrambled egg whited, and protein shakes. I know you guys cant mix the shake with anything but water yet, but after surgery I reccomend mixing it with Soy milk and sugar free vanilla flavoring, it is my favorite. Pam it was so nice to meet you the other night at the support group, maybe we will see eachother again some time. Well thats all for now guys, talk to you all later!

    Bewbie - banded 2/15

Hello there! I was banded on February12! I know exactly what you mean about the gas, the best thing to do is walk, walk, walk. I am doing a lot better it is just my port site that still hurts. It hurts most if I have been sitting for a bit and then try to get up again. But isnt this very exciting. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!
  13. I was banded yesterday morning, and everything seems to be going okay so far, but I still haven't been able to pee normally. I pass very small amounts each time I use the restroom, so I am able to go, but I was very sure to be well hydrated prior to my surgery, and I am drinking as much Water as I can. My nurse at the hospital said that if I wasn't able to urinate within 8 hours of getting home, I needed to return to the ER (I'm assuming to recieve a catheter). I'm just worried because although I am going, it's nowhere near what I am used to. I placed a call to my doc's office, but haven't heard back from them just yet. Any advice?

I found that the msgic bullet helped a lot in the mixing of my proteiin shakes. Also if you go to the grocery store they should have some sugar free flavored syrups, I used the vanilla in my chocolate shake and it was really tasty.

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???

Well hello to all! Stick with the Bariatrix I know that you can all do it, I have faith in all of you. Well surgery went very well! After the anethisiologist came in to the preop area and gave me my "cocktail" I pretty much was out of it. I don't remember anything until the time I woke up. Surgery was at 9:00 and we were home by 1:30. The worst part was the upper GI study they do after surgery. You have to swollow about 2oz.s of barium and it is disgusting!! When you get home make sure that you stay on top of your pain. I went too long with out meds and I was in total agony. I have only had to use the phenergan a few times though. I am having some trouble peeing so I have a call into Dr. Gansers office and we will see what he says. This is so worth it. The end result will make me very proud. Well I am getting tired again so I will talk to you all later!

Hey guys, Red's husband checking in here on her behalf. We just walked in the door about 15 minutes ago, and right now she is relaxing on the couch. Everything went very well. She is just a little sore, and her shoulder does ache from the air in her abdominal cavity, but all in all, she's in pretty good shape. With no plans for the next few days, I'm sure she'll be breaking out the laptop and checking in again real soon. :clap2: Chris, I have an 05 Suzuki King Quad, and I would love to meet some more riders in the area, especially if they are into mine exploration as well. Do you have a group here locally that you ride with?

Chris, That is so exciting! After I have my preop appointment tomorrow I will let you know what happens! Where are you having your surgery? Mine is Monday morning at 9:00am at Renown South Meadows. I also go for my hospital preadmit tomorrow. I am so excited! I feel like it should be Christmas!

I am so excited I have my preop appointment tomorrow!!!! That makes me one step closer! How long have you all been thinking about and prepairing for the band? My first seminar was last May and then because of my insurance I had to do a medicaly supervised diet up at UNR. It has been a long road but I know in the end it will be totaly worth it. Hey Pam keep your spirits up, everything will be ok. I am also a big fan of Crystal Light but I have found that low calorie drinks like Propel do tend to help a bit. Just remember also that we are here on this website for a reason, we are here to help each other and ask each other questions to get us all through the hard times. Well I will quit talking now. You all have a good day!!

Reno or N. Nevada Bandsters out there???

I am nervous, I am excited, there are so many emotions right now! I have my preop appointment with Dr. Ganser on Thursday morning and my preadmit at the hospital that afternoon. If I stick to 6 shakes a day then no I am not starving and if I drink plenty of water and include some Propel I am ok. Stick to it and your surgery date will be here it before you know it.

Oh Pam, I am so sorry they changed your surgery date! That is no fun! I hope that you will be ok!

With your dinner shake, per the doctors office, you may have the following vegetables cooked or raw. But they ask that you do not add oils, sauces, butter, salad dressings, or condiments. Asparagus, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Celery, Cucumbers, Crookneck or Zucchini squash, Gree, red, yellow, or orange sweet peppers, Lettuce (up to 4 cups daily), Mushrooms, Onions, Radishes, and Spinach. If you are having your surgery in Reno this list will be in the packet you get in the mail that has your appointments and things like that. It is the same page that has the sample menu for the shakes on it. Are you from Reno? When is your surgery?

Hey do you know what time the support group meeting starts? If you all don't have a magic bullet you should get one! It has really helped with the ease of making the Bariatrix shakes. I have one at home and one at work. I have also founf that the sugar free Flavored Syrups really help with the taste. Marcie
