  1. i was thinking being super strict during my diet and then i can have some dressing on christmas day this is what makes it feel like christmas for me. I have done great and have not cheated so far i am saving my one cheat for that day. That little bit of reward to look forward to is helping me stay on the straight and narrow the rest of the time. We are having a christmas/ retirement party tomorrow at work and i will be leaving to christmas shop i think that way i won't be tempted.

  2. Well it's day five i have to say i really go back and forth on the hunger scale some times i am thinking this isn't so bad other times i would do anything for some food. The sugar free popsicles actually do help. Not usually a big popsicle eater but it sure helps you get thru the hard times. I have read on here that the first three days are the hardest then it's gets easier. Still not the easiest thing i have ever done but definetly not the hardest either. I was scared to death about the pre-op diet more that i am about coming up surgery. I am having surgery Dec 30th. Anyone else out there with this date?

  3. I found some Shirataki Noodles while surfing on the net and i am going to order some and try them have not ordered yet so i can't speak from experience but maybe it can be a good alternate for the regular Pasta noodles. Google it and see what you think.

  4. Why in the world was it 70,000 dollars for the hospital bill? Self pay here is around 17,000.

I have BCBS of IL and after all my paperwork was submitted by my Surgeon it took only 2 weeks for them to contact the surgeon with my approval. My out of pocket was $1200 and it had already been covered, so for my surgery I didn't have to pay for anything, so far the hospital bill alone was $70,000. That doesn't include the surgeon.. So in my case BCBSIL rocks!!!

  5. I also have blue cross and blue shield of AL and after my info was sent to them they still had not given us an answer in a week like the dr said they usually do. So i could not take the suspense any longer i called and asked them to look at my information to see if there were any notes on it. They said it has been approved but the letter had not been sent out yet. I am now waiting on my surgery consult date to find out my actual surgery date. I also called before to be sure that my out of pocket max for the year is $2000 like i was told and how much mine showed at that time. A very nice rep named Steve talked to me about it and looked for any exclusions on the contract. I don't think it will hurt if you want to call the insurance company and talk to them. I felt great and got a lot of information from the rep I got.

  6. I did the 6months of dr supervised diet. I was getting Lipotropic injections which is basically B12 shots with other vitiamins in them too. It supposed to help you have more energy and burn your stored fat. I also quit the sodas but i still had a problem with bread and potatoes. I started the program at 285 lbs and finished the 6 months at 274 and it fluxated up an down each week. About 6 weeks before mine was up i got really serious about this thing and started doing the replacement shake for my lunches and eating a normal dinner at night. I also started using www.myfitnesspal.com to help me keep up with how many calories i was consuming thru out the day. I am now at 272 and i have been approved by the insurance company i am just waiting on a date. I can tell you that when i started this in April it feel like it was so far away but really it goes by pretty quickly. Good luck and be honest with the dr when you guys talk about your weaknesses during the monthly consult and weigh in.

  7. so glad this issue got brought up my gum habit is the only habit i still have i gave up the cokes and i don't smoke or drink but if i get stressed i pop some gum in my mouth i am a chewing fool for a while. I would say i chew at least 5 pieces a day. So glad I will still be able to enjoy this after i get banded end of nov/ or beginning of dec.

  8. I just finished my 6 months of dr supervised visits so next week we will schedule the psych and nutrionist visits then off to the surgeon for the consult then a date will be set so in the next few weeks. My doctor say that since i have a hiatal hernia that they have to repair at the same time. That i would be out 4 weeks instead of 1. So heads up ask them what they expect your down time to be. We maybe be close together on our surgery dates. I am hoping for Nov. sometime. Good Luck

  9. Ok guys i have been not eating Breakfast as i am not a typical breakfast eater so i get up at 6am and about 10 i start getting hungry which i was an early luncher at 11am so i have been doing the Meal Replacement bars/ shakes from 9:30 to 10 am this holds me over until i get home at 6:30pm then i am eating a regular meal. This keeps me under the calorie intake for the day or right where i need to be if i meet it. Rarely over it . But my question is if i make myself do one for breakfast and lunch then eat supper or if i eat a normal lunch and then do the meal replacement for dinner will any of these combinations make me lose weight quicker i am in my 5th month of the dr supervised weightloss diet. So Oct 10th will be my 6th visit for that so we will start with the appts for the pysh eval and the nutritionist and the surgery consult. I know they are going to require me to do the only liquid diet for the two week prior to surgery so i am trying to get used to the Protein Shakes. Any tips on how to optimize the effectiveness of using these?
