  1. Yes, I started it 2 weeks post op. It's a program to get you running a half hour straight, or a 5 K depending on how fast you run, without stopping. It starts with running intervals as short as one minute at a time, with walking in between. Every week the running intervals get longer and the walking intervals get shorter until eventually you're just running. I loved it, it got me started running and I ran a half marathon last month. Google it and check it out :)

  2. I second the nectar protein..the brand is Syntrax. I didn't *love* the Roadside Lemonade but it was okay. strawberry kiwi was better, and now I drink vanilla Bean Tort every morning...mixed with a glass of skim milk it is 32 gms of Protein and 190 calories...and tastes alot like Carnation instant Breakfast vanilla. Not bad! It can be trial and error to find out what you like, so whenever possible buy sample packets before you commit to a huge expensive jug.

  3. OMG, I totally thought of this post the other day. A few days after a fill, which ended up being way too much, I stopped and got a smoothie on my way out to Omaha, which is an hour away. I was going to a wedding so I had a Spanx on. I took one sip of the smoothie and it was immediately clear that it was not going down. I was completely miserable the entire drive and even ended up throwing up, in a cup, in my car...not cool! Anyway, I did not realize yet that I was too tight as I has been fine up until then, so I was completely convinced that it was from the Spanx! Turns out it wasn't, but I do still think that the tightness of the Spanx could limit how much you eat and how full you feel.

  4. I know it's frustrating to have more road blocks thrown up at you! But like other people I had a 6 month nutrition counseling I had to do before hand and it was hard waiting at the time, but it will go by fast and you will get your band! It can only help you be more successful if you are in the best possible health before hand.

  5. Yesterday was just a band loving kind of day for me. My son and I went to Worlds of Fun, and amusement park in Kansas City that is about 3 hours from us. First of all, since eating in the car is not a great idea, I didn't indulge eat anything the whole way there. BB (before band) I would have loaded up on Snacks and soda to have while driving. Second of all, I have not gone to amusement parks for years, partly because I was deathly afraid I wouldn't fit in a roller coaster and that would be beyond humiliating for me. Next, instead of roasting outside wearing short sleeves and pants, I was feeling nice and cool in a tank top and (Bermuda) shorts...which I would not have been caught dead in a year ago. Not to mention the tank was a medium and the shorts were a 10, which are sizes I have never in my life worn until now! Lastly, while I did have a few different things to eat at the park, I did not gorge myself like I would have BB. I had a few bites of funnel cake here, a little bit of popcorn there...and I felt satisfied and not deprived at all. Okay, maybe I felt slightly deprived because I heart soft pretzels more than anything and they had ridiculously big ones there that I would love to have devoured, but it was not worth my money to buy one only to eat a few bites. So I didn't, and that was okay. I also walked around the park for 10 hours and was not particularly tired and my feet didn't even really hurt.

The moral of the story is, while there has been a...learning curve...7 months out and 84 pounds down....I love my band!
