    The Scale Lies!

    I gave away 6 huge bags full of old clothing. Have very little to wear now as the last 10 yrs has been 3x-4x. My bra size doesn't change which drives me nuts. I don't know what my calorie count is. I call this the NO! Diet since everything is forbidden. And I obsess with all of it: weighing, eating, not eating, clothing, looking at myself in the mirror, pain from exercising, amt of exercising, going to gym, going to pt,going to ot, going to shrink...but living? Not yet. Yeah, I can tie my shoes by myself and if a lace opens while I'm walking I can bend over and tie it without blinking but the thought still obsesses me. Yeah I am back to 6 to 8 blocks walking with dog with walker. Yeah I fit on a weird bike at the gym (so far, the only one I fit on) and yeah, I walk up a flight of stairs after my workout (using all four limbs) big woop. I can't walk far without the walker. I still have limited stamina. I still need the rotten cpap machine. I haven't met any new people beyond surface acknowledgements. I can't go on a trip or a cruise (I've read @ people who do 2wks out!) . I DID NOT EXPECT EVERYTHING TO CHANGE LIKE MAGIC after the surgery but I'm still surprised that it hasn't done just a little bit... I wish I had a more forgiving, supportive surgeon who gave self worship a break once in a while. I would choose not to have him in my life if I could. I wish I could find a compatible curmudgeon to commisserate with. And I wish I could think about something else and do something other than just mark time until I have a more dramatic wt loss. I wish....

    Could u please say how to measure fat %? I finally broke the stall and lost a couple lbs but am holding this loss again. Looks like a new pattern developing. First a wild loss of 50 and then nothing since 2/18 and then 2 more and now holding. Just like you outlined. Am now 3x week trainer and 4hours pt and ot. Maybe that's what broke the stall? But WHY can't the doc give proportions for food? Fat/prot/carb? I'm the NO! Diet. And I still hate it. Ps: what're you going to substitute for the wt loss obsession once you've attained your goal weight? Is this what is meant by change in life style....obsess differently? Changing my handle to resident grump!
  3. I have an impingement in my shoulder and its rearing its ugly head since Friday when I swam a bit harder than usual. The docs give us tylenol but I think they said we can't take ibuprofen. Does anyone take anything stronger that tylenol for pain and inflamation?? (Sleeved 12/5)
  4. Ouroborous, I needed that. Thanks. Couple comments/questions: how does one measure body fat? Do you think you'll ever be able to eat a slice of bread again? How do people here get to eat rice, bread, candy, popcorn???? HOW? And live to tell us about it? I can't even chew gum without feeling I've sabotaged my diet? Why do you think a surgeon wouldn't give fat/protein/carb proportions and limits for a single day? What kind of warped person (me) follows these directives? But I do feel a bunch better for reading your messages and thanks!
  5. What?! Me normal? Nah. Maybe....I'm frustrated. My cousin says you went thru all that to lose wt and after 50# u stop???? Sigh. I told her, good, but until I hear it from someone else, I don't buy it. My body darn well know its no where near goal. I've got at minimum another 100 to go. I weighed myself again today (idiot me) and it was up .6 # so I silently mocked myself "told ya so. I knew it" but at least it was 255 to 256 and not 256 to 258 where its been tenaciously holding for the past 3 weeks. Thanks for the long post. I needed to hear it.

    Anti-Inflamatory Med?

    Finally had shoulders evaluated...am exceptionally weak! Starting with dental dams and 3# bar. Have PT 2x/week added to 6 days of training with and without the trainer. Slept this afternoon! Doc approved ibuprofen with nexium...but couldn't stomach the meds so stopped. Think I'll look for a good massage
  7. Soda candy bread and rice???? I'm a mouse: I eat cheese. I eat meat. I eat fish and I eat vegetables. I eat nuts. I eat Protein. _÷x_^%*(&%$ PROTEIN. I work out 6 days aweek and now with the freaking physical therapy sometimes 2x a day. I lost x\ one lb this a.m. but I don't believe its gone til I weigh myself next week and its still gone. I hate this diet. I hate the doctor. I hate the program. I hate the inflexability. I hate the whole deal. Stupid dumb surgery. Stupid diet that can't be kept to for the rest of my life. Sigh...thanks for listening. Hold the sympathy.

  11. Yup! Same deal here tho I never got a carb number...just a yell8ng NO CARBS...NO FAT... buncha baloney Grin. What's their site? I had mine done at yale and pple who had RnY gthere get a nutritionist but not the sleeve people. For me he said he doesn't trust nuts! I'm seeing on mid march ....can't wait.
  12. No I take just 2 tablets of one a day...where'd u get the idea that u need 5 or 6? That gives a complete serving of Iron and the other 'junk' <grin>. My pcp is going to test my blood for iron content in april....cuz I don't see me asbeing anemic. We're also going to test b12 because I don't believe they "cut away the part of the stomach where it gets absorbed". Someone told me to stop listening to everything the surgeon says as if he were a god...even if he sees himself that way. I'm questioning everything. Dumb people never heard of shriataki noodles (made from tofu) and even tho they permit tofu on the diet, they came down yelling NO NOODLES at me...for a lousy 20 calories! No fat. Sheeeeesh. Can't wait to take up with the nutritionist. See, I don't think its possible to eat this way for a whole 6 months to a year and then expect the body to adjust to eating healthy (fruits and all veggies) and continue to lose weight. I think that's a bunch of hoo-ha...designed to keep the Vitamin people in cadillacs.

    I'm using l'oreal evercream leave in ...both the shampoo and the lite spray on conditioner. My hair is back to relatively smooth and silky...tho not first thing in a.m. also using wiiiide tooth comb
  14. I don't understand why a capsule. I'm using one a day petite with iron. Small enuf to swallow. Also calcium is oscal lemon chiffon chewable...not too sweet...vit. d3 is from Kal 9chewable in either ppperming or cinnamon depending on IU amt...I threw out the gummies as soon as I was able. Tell me @ benefiber....cause gas???

  16. I am pretty much sucking my lower lip. On 10th day out from surgery and on clear liquids. I can't take it anymore. They don't even allow sf jello. I hate sweets and find sf sweet sickening. I'm not pishing as much as I take in (3 to 4 17 oz bottles) plus a few cups of lowsalt no fat broth. Ice pops freeze my mouth. I'm going nuts and I'm ready to take a bite of cheese or other solid food without talking to the doc or nurse. I hate this.

    Alex...I can now see who's on line and even sent u a pvt message. Also logged into Push. I haven't seen it work yet but the registration worked fine. Flaw in settings: cannot see some of the content of the boxes when you get to push settings. Under that, if you want to see what's in the box, it only shows up when you touch it...that activated a signature and also got me knocked out of the system without wanting to log out.     For the past week my wt has bounced from 258.6 to 256.8 no matter what I do. I want to eat fruit. It seems so counterintuitive not to. I'm "beginning" to doubt the doc....agggh also my fitness pal puts me over the top for fats. Grump. Want blueberries...strawberries apples help! Seeing nut next month. Can't wait.

    Mayo clinic (& other, recent studies) say that drinking diet soda INCREASES RISK OF OBESITY so I think that's the reason the carbonation is forbidden...not just diet soda but seltzer, too.

    When was your surgery? I was allowed back as soon as my drain incision healed...about 3 weeks. Whooosh that felt good. I'm up to a mile and Friday I pushed too much and coulnt lift my left arm over my head. I've laid low since fri and the trainer did only lower body work today...but I miss the pool already...even kicking hurts my shoulders to hold onto the board or whatever....waaah

  23. So far just once. Am not certain of benefit because I get notice of response in email...go to message and then answer it there. There's no connection from the email to the responses in the application....so only reason I d use the ap is to search for forum or post new topic. (So far and all other things being equal).

    12/5 was my surgery and I ve been on Protein and veggies only since then. I do get nuts but only because I asked. I get chili, too, again only because I asked. When I reasonably suggested that the sturgeon (sic) give me a ratio of fats/proteins/carbs because he cannot list all the foods I may or may not eat ("you are cleared to eat everything") he refused and says that people who question him and start looking for diet guidance elsewhere are not successful. He did say no liquid with calories, 64 g protein/day. N0 Fruit no chewing gum no going back to Ensure. He doesn't like nutritionists, he said he doesn't trust them. I'm down @52 # and the scale don't move. I work out 6 days a week...3 with personal trainer. 4in gym and 2 in pool. Walk the doggie at least once a day....I'm frequently hungry @ 20 minutes after I eat. This ain't normal and I don't like it. And yes, I drink @ 64 oz/day. Scheduled a nut visit mid march. Sigh
