Assist/no Snark
I am pretty sure I know which site you are talking about. I went as far as emailing them and complaining about the treatment on the lap band section of the site. I also told them I was talking to my surgeon about it because the site is recommended in the paperwork we got as being helpful. I got an email back pretty much telling me where the block and delete buttons were. This is from the admin. I did bring it up the day of my surgery and my nurse promised to look into it , talk to my surgeon and perhaps drop it from there list of helpful sites. I tend to stay away from there now as there are better sites available. I love lapband talk. People here are friendly and helpful. Just what a newly banded person needs.

No Support Help
Have you managed to get in touch with the clinic in Moncton? I was reading your posts and am concerned about you.

Fills?
WOW! $5000.00 is a lot of money. Is that for complete aftercare (forever fills)? Sorry I cant help you but I do sympathize with you. I just paid $16,000.00 for my surgery because the Ontario government doesnt recognize lap band surgery as a legitimate wls. They consider it cosmetic.

2+ Years Update
An amazing story! You are truly and inspiration especially to the newly banded like myself. I know now there is a pot of gold at the other side of the rainbow and it can be mine. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Anyone Get A Horrible Taste On Pre Op Diet?
Yep, I got it too. I started adding peppermint extract to my chocolate shakes and it really took away the sweet taste. I also brushed my teeth and tongue a lot...lol

One Week Ago Today I Was Banded!
Cant believe a whole week has gone by. Tomorrow I start my pureed foods. I have lost 9 lbs on my pre op diet and another 4 lbs this week. What surprises me is that these last few days I havent felt any hunger. At first I was hungry every 2 1/2 hours. I just have to learn to slow down when eating. In this busy, busy world it is hard to slow down and take some time for yourself. Would love to hear the experiences of other over 60 new bandsters .

October 2012 Bandsters
I am doing great! I really had no pain after surgery and very little gas. What I did have was in both shoulders. I was out shopping a few hours after my surgery! I start my pureed food on Saturday and I am really looking forward to having some substance to my diet. Soup is ok but I am getting sick of it. I lost 9 lbs pre op and so far 4 lbs post op. How are you doing? Surgery go well? Lynn

Do You
My experience was that I gained a few lbs after surgery due to the IV fluids.

Aaargh! Moved, Got Broke, No Protein Shakes, And Gained 5 Labs Back! Wwjd?!
I dont use the Protein shakes. I discovered that no fat greek yogurt and no fat cottage cheese have more protein than my shakes did. So I make a smoothie with cocoa, honey flavoured greek yogurt and skim milk. Very filling.

Swlc Or Slimband......
Hi Tom. Surgery went really well and I am very happy with my progress so far. I had very little pain the day of the surgery and virtually none since then. Even the gas pain in my shoulders was bearable. I havent had to take any kind of painkiller, not even Tylenol. I am learning how to slow down now when it comes to eating. I start pureed foods next week and am looking forward to it. I would highly recommend Dr. Cobourn and his staff at SWLC!! The clinic is spotless and the special touches like the leather recliner with the heated blanket really made you feel calm and ready to take on this new lifestyle.

Liquid Diet
We need more info. When were you banded? What stage of pre op are you at? If you are eating properly and gaining then I would call my dr. and discuss it with him. Also are you watching your sodium intake?

Hmm.. Is This Normal?
I dont have any port pain at all. I am one of the lucky ones because I didnt have to take any extra painkillers and I was out shopping that afternoon. I do believe that it is due to the fact that I worked out 3x per week and had my personal trainer 1x per week for months before my surgery. The gas pains were not unbearable either and only in my shoulders. They have almost disappeared now.

1 Day Of Mushies = 1.5 Lbs Gained :(
I was told to stay away from cauliflower and broccoli for a while because they are so fibrous. Guess every doctor has their own way of doing things.

Hello Everyone...
Awesome progress! I was banded on 10/19 and have lost 9 lbs on pre op diet and so far 2 lbs post op. I am not worried too much about how much I lose during my liquid and pureed food stages. I just want to get out and start exercising again. I cant wait for the dr.s ok.
