Surgery To Remove My Gallbladder. :(
jenni_867 replied to Julie76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
julie, is your back pain associated to the gall stones? just wondering cuz i've been having symptoms of the pain under the ribs after eating and some back aches too..... gallstones run in the family, so im not surprised i have them, but i couldn't figure out why my back is so achy. -
I Definitely Regret Surgery.... So Far!
jenni_867 replied to jasleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
you know what? dont worry so much ab out the protein. I couldnt, and still cant stomach protein shakes. Try nibbling on a protein bar if you feel you must get your protein in. it gets better once you start eating "real" foods. just being able to nibble on saltines and cream cheese gave me energy. i couldnt do broth, or isopure drinks. I lived off of popsicles and frozen yogurt tubes. hopefully things start to turn around for you soon. -
I bought a bunch of baby food and its still in the pantry. I was only able to eat the banana and apple sauce. and i only had a couple teaspoons of each. My advice is to skip the baby food....yuck. I survived off of cottage cheese, apple sauce, protein pudding, and ricotta bake.

Has Anyone Used These Guys

never heard of them -
i agree about the co-ordinators...there's some sort of "war" going on between them all. There's been alot of posts about their bickering and bad mouthing each other on here and other forums. I had Dr.Kelly and he was great. But when I was researching it was between Dr Pompa, Dr Alvarez, and Dr Kelly. Who is your co-ordinator working for?

If you're not completely comfortable with Mexico then why would you go? I researched the surgery and surgeons for over a year. There's alot of other options out there. If price is your concern, then check out other countries that will perform the surgery. Or, go through a financing company to self pay in the States or Canada. I agree with strongarm. $5300 was THE best money I have ever ever spent. I love my sleeve, but I refuse to tell anyone else to go and do it. Especially if they are not comfortable with ANY aspect of the surgery. Good Luck in your decision!

here come the gall stones.... i knew it was only a matter of time. Every female on my mothers side has had them, so I might as well join the club.

Help? 17 Days Postop, Nauseated, Can't Eat Or Take Meds, This Post May Be A Little Gross, Sorry!
jenni_867 replied to fljovideb's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Btw. Search the forums for acid/heartburn issues. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! IT GETS BETTER! Trust me. I was you, a few weeks ago too. I started by taking Zantac (OTC) which helped tremendously...but not enough. Doc put me on nexium, and it was a rough first few days, but now I feel like a new person. Get lots of rest, and if you are having troubles getting your water in, go back to Popsicles, etc. keep us updated on how you're doing. (((hugs))) -

jenni_867 replied to fljovideb's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I take my meds first thing in th am on an empty stomach. Have a shower, read the paper, etc... Then have a tea and try some crackers or something really easy on the stomach. If you can handle the crackers, try some soft cheese with them later like cream cheese. I like ritz crackers, rather than the saltines, but whatever is easiest on your tummy. -

Dr. Garcia...sleeved Last Weekend! Review...now 1 Week Post-op
jenni_867 replied to gettingtohappy's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
i didnt go to dr garcia, but i can tell you that there are a few channels on tv that are english. and some of the other channels had sub titles in english. Going into Mexico was a breeze. As a matter of fact we just drove through, no stopping, no border guards nothing. I didnt even know we crossed the border until the driver told me! On the way back to the states was a whole different story. 2 1/2 hrs waiting in line to cross the border. At least there was lots to look at...tons of vendors selling their wares and food. Bring a newspaper or something to read. -

The Slimes On Clear Liquids?
jenni_867 replied to favoredone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not a doctor, but It kind of sounds like acid reflux....I had what felt like a ball stuck in my esophagus for the first couple of weeks until I started taking a PPI. It happened everytime I drank something that wasn't the right temp. or drank to fast. It's not the slimes. The slimes are like when you are about to throw up and you have to keep spitting and spitting. It's really gross. If you're lucky you won't get them. -
Gastric Sleeve Surgery Date Set.....low Bmi
jenni_867 replied to Texasgirl73's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
depending on your surgeon you may or may not have a pre op diet. i had dr kelly and was only required a 3 day preo-op....you wont be turned away. all of us light weights had those same concerns.....although there were a few of us that had some issues at a certain hospital in Tijuana (scroll through this forum and you'll see what i'm talking about). good luck in your journey! -
i take zantac right now. it's otc and works really well the dr prescribed me nexium 40's, but they give me very bad headaches so i'm going to stick to zantac. never had heartburn like this before either.

When I was on ideal Protein, that was one of the"go to" Snacks. It was a freebie. I could eat as many as I wanted. Most veggies were freebies and that included pickles. Sort of like on WW with most veggies being zero points.... Enjoy your pickles! I think I'm gonna go buy some today. Thanks for the idea! My food choices feel very blah at the moment.

I Want To Cheat - 10 Days Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery
jenni_867 replied to reallyrosy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a great thread! I remember the first couple of days after surgery in pain, vomiting, shaky, weak, etc and thinking "they all lied to me! Those people on the forum are fakes! This is terrible!". Lol....I thought I was done for and that I had mutilated myself. Now just a month later I think this is the best thing I ever did for myself. The hardest part is the beginning, but you get through it. It totally sucks, no doubt about that. In 6 months from now all of us newbies will be rockin our sleeves. It will get better and it sounds like things are already turning around for you! -
Isn't Too Much Antacid Bad For You?
jenni_867 replied to bellabbr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have too much calcium ie tums, you can develop kidney stones... One a day should be fine. I'm on nexium once a day, but only for one month. My doctor told me most patients suffer from acid reflux for the first few months, but it usually tapers off once your new stomach heals. -

Nexium Problems after Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
jenni_867 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to my doctor for a follow up, and I've had major acid reflux since being sleeved. He prescribed nexium 40's.... I've been trying to take them, but have been getting headaches and some "tummy" issues at night time. Anyone else have issues with nexium? Should I take it at a certain time to avoid side effects? I have Zantac too, but have been maxing out on them. I'm worried about developing kidney stones if I take to many tums or Zantac. Any advice on nexium would really help! Thanks!
