  1. I don't feel you have any obligation to anyone to explain about how you lost the weight through a lap band....that was a personal choice and if you want to keep it to yourself than that is your right. I am just starting out but I do feel like you and the less people that know about it, the happier I am. My problem is a big mouth husband who thought telling the bigger mouth gym owner about it. His reasoning being that it was OK as she wasn't someone we knew personally....now I have no interest in going back to the gym as I know everyone will have heard about it....it is still too soon for me to return to the gym yet anyway as per my surgeon but I could just kill my husband. Sorry to get off the subject but I am with you in not wanting to share which is your own "secret"....as I thought it would be mine also....and congratulations on your wonderful success.....by the way you are not lying you are just omitting info.....whole different thing...

  3. Im now in the thicker liquid stage.. And im finding it to be a bland thing. ive ever been a good cook. So any ideas?? any suggestions? plse help!!! ;.)

I am also in the thicker liquid stage but I am a boring eater. Just thought I would give you my sympathy. today was my one week check up and have lost 10 lbs.....it must have been the 48 ice pops I ate plus the sugar free Jello (see boring eating)...that was my clear liquid week.....so far starting today it looks like my week is going to be Protein Shakes and yogurt.....the thought of mashed potatoes, pureed anything, etc does nothing for me....I think sugar free pudding is also on my list so might include that...I am sure I have not been the least bit of help but I find the fastest and easiest way to eat the best. IF I ever get into a real cookery mood (if that is a word) I bought a few cans of cambell's cream Soups and might heat one up and use the immersion blender to get the lumps out.....now that sounds like a real meal.....good luck

  4. Hello. My name is Joe. I am 23 years old and I am getting banded tomorrow (9-28-11). I would like to document my journey to a healthier life. My starting weight is 330 and as of now I weight 324. I have tried many different methods to lose weight but to no avail, I relapse and for the worse. I was at the gym 4-5 days a week, dieting, and staying active for almost 2 and a half years strait. It WORKED. I lost almost 60 pounds constantly working out. I then landed my dream job which now makes it tough to get to the gym like I used to. I then relapsed and within one year, I had gained all the weight back plus 20 pounds. I never took much consideration to the band until a family member got his done. He looks great now. My Dr. told me it will help me keep the weight off. That is exactly what I needed. After some research, I decided to go for it. I quickly got through the barrage of doctors and the cleared me as a "perfect candidate". I have been lucky that my weight has not had a long term effect on my body...yet. Tomorrow is my surgery and I will admit I a nervous. My main concern is the pain. I can take pain. (I have broken multiple bones in the past) I just have it in the back of my head. I know it is a bumpy road ahead, but I aim for the stars.

If anyone has any suggestions or tips, please share them with me. I will be blogging a lot on my progress. My goal is to lose 100 pounds and then see how I look then go from there. Thank for anything shared! Cheers!

Good Luck tomorrow Joe and on your road to losing weight. I don't have much advise to offer as I only had my band done on the 20th but as far as the pain, I just had the one painful day and that was it....each day got better and better...especially as I get on the scale and see the numbers dropping......But seriously I was very sore coming home from the hospital and that day and evening but by the next morning was feeling pretty good considering....so don't go worrying....I think everyone is nervous the day before and especially the morning off and that is to be expected but I am sure you will do SUPER....you sound like a perfect candidate to me also!! again good luck and look forward to following your journey. Janice

  5. I'm four days post op and yesterday was a tired day but otherwise, I haven't experienced it. I've only lost 5 lbs. How much Protein are you consuming each day?

i am not eating any protein.....all that is on the list the doctor gave me for the first week is clear iiquids...so i have been living on jelllo and ice pops and some broth...no where does he say to eat any Protein the first week. I am sure this is why I am so exhausted. Well come Tuesday it will be the start of week two and more things will be added so hopefully they will help.

  6. It has been 5 days since my surgery...September 20th....so far doing well with everything and no problems....down 10 lbs and feeling fine except for excessive sleeepiness...I feel I could sleep about 20 hours out of the day!!....I see my surgeon on Thursday and will discuss this with him but just wondered if anyone else has had this extreme tiredness? I think I am doing everything right...living on a lquid diet including Jello and popsicles and lots of water...But two hours after waking up, I am ready for a nap....Janice

  7. I have been reading these boards for the last few days ( just found them) and my surgery is scheduled for this Tuesday, September 20th. I find it interesting that most of you talk about pre op dieting of just liquids, etc. My surgeon has made no suggestion other than to not eat after midnight of the night before surgery.. Am I the only one who has a doctor that doesn't do any pre op diet restrictions? I have a BMI of 35.1 and about 70 lbs. to lose. I first went to the surgeon to discuss Lipo and he was the one who bought up the subject of the lapband. From my first visit to him until my scheduled surgery has been just a few short weeks so I am still getting my head around all this and trying to study up on everything. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Just on another note, I am very scared and also very excited to have this done. I am 64 so have waited a long time to finally admit that I have no control over my weight problems. thanks for listening to me ramble...Janice
