I was denied once already. So, I had to go through all of the sleep study stuff and now have a CPAP to prove my comorbidity. My family doctor just sent in the new information to my insurance company. So I am hoping to now get approved. I hear you about the head thing. I will have to find something besides food to turn to when I am down. I am hoping I can make that exercise. If I am denied again from my insurance then I will know this is not something that I am suppose to do. I just get so upset with myself that I do not have the will power to do this on my own. Thanks for the good thoughts. I need all I can get.

For all of those who have lost a lot of weight. I am wondering how your body looks now? I am so worried about my extra skin after I lose weight. I am waiting for the letter from my insurance company and hope to be banded before the end of the year. Are there any exercises you can do that helps with the extra skin?? I want to be able to wear sexy clothes again when I get thin, but I am worried I will not be looking to sexy in them. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to tighten then skin as you lose??

Thank you for the reply. It seems that I did not type my question very well. I am almost 5'6, my weight goes back and forth between 200 and 235 lbs. I have been over weight for the last 9 years. The reasons for my surgery are health ( I have sleep apnea). I am also doing it as I am 33 and have not been on a date for the last 9 years. I am an attractive single mother and I would love nothing more then to run around the yard with my daughter, take her to the pool and not be embarresed of myself. I get very depressed about my weight and the more depressed I get the more I gain. I am doing this surgery for me - My health and mental health. I want to start living life again. Not sitting home all of the time with no life. I believe that I am doing this surgery for all of the right reasons and I hope that I did not offend anyone. I know that I do not have as much to lose as some, however I have the same feelings about myself as everyone on this site does. Regards to sexy clothes, I know that there is not one person on this site that does not want to feel sexy again. (Not that some of you do not now) I just want to get that sexy feeling again, want to go out and meet people and most of all hopefully meet someone to spend my life with for my daughter and myself. My goal will be 150. I know that it will take time and hard work. I just also know that I cannot do it on my own. I have been working towards the band for the last year. Just waiting for the insurance letter to come now. I do not think you are grumpy, just honest. Just know I am doing this for the right reason. Just hoping my body after 5 surgeries on my tummy and stretch marks all over - might shrink along with the fat. Thanks again

After reading this message, I have the sae questions. I want to know if all of you had to do it again would you do it? has it been worth it? Have a lot of you had problems with the bands and had to go back in for more surgery? Is the weight lose worth the pain you have gone through? And any other question you would like to answer or any information you would like to share. Thank you, To be banded

Thank you Alex! I am so glad you responded. You are correct, I could not decide if I should have the surgery. I am still working on getting approved though. I just feel like such a loser sometime. I think WHY can't I do this on my own? The emotional battle I have with myself on a day to day basis and the disappointment I feel in myself when I over eat or have no control. Those are the reasons I am still working on getting approved. I will keep you all posted. I have already been through the class, had the bod bod done and just have to see the surgen and the phyc doc. anyway, thanks again.

I live near Peoria and am waiting to get approval from my insurance company for the Lap band. I see that a few of you have seen Dr Rossi or have had surgery by him. Any words of wisdom? I am now going through sleep studies to prove a co morbid as I was denied for the surgery last year. I am 220 and my goal is 140. I look forward to finding some time to look around on here again. It has been awhile since I have been logged in here. Was too depressing when I know I could not get the surgery. However, I am still on the mission and praying it will go through this time. Need Some Questions Answer
momhappe1 replied to JULIE914's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wish you luck. I am in the same situation. I am 220 pounds. I was turned down last year because I am not heavy enough. I am now going through sleep studies for sleep apena. That is considered co morbid. I am hoping to be able to get my surgery through my insurance soon. I know how you feel, I have tried every diet in the world. I will go down to 185 or so and gain it back. Diets stop working and I get depressed about it and start eating again. I would not have lipo though, cause if you then lose the weight you could need more. I have choosen this surgery because of its slow weight lose, and other benefits, I believe it is much more healthy. Alexandra - Looks like you are doing great. I remember when you were going in the the surgery. - Are the results still about the same as lst year? And is the surgery still less then 1% chance of death? -
i'm starving!!!! liquid diet pre op!!!!
momhappe1 replied to shellyj's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I had my first class last night for this surgery. I was told that I would have to go 7 days on clear liquids pre op as well. I do not know how I am going to do it, but I know that I will. I can not wait to have this surgery. I have read so much on here and learned so much that it has been very easy to make up my mind to do this. Thank you all for the motivation. I am sure that you will hear more about how hungry I am when I get to 7 days out. -
The nurse at my doctor's office told me that I may not be able to have the band done as I have had several ab surgeries before. I have the class on August 19th then will have my appointment with the surgeon within the next two weeks after. I plan to have surgery, if insurance approves, in October or November. The nurse told me that because of scar tissue that I may not be able to have this done. I just wondered if anyone else has had this done with previous surgery in the ab?

Anyone had ab surgery before and then this?

Vera, please keep me posted on how your surgery goes. I will be thinking of you. I have my class on August 19th and am hoping to be banded in October. I will keep you all posted on the outcome. Isn't it just great having a road map on your tummy? :-) -
Anyone had ab surgery before and then this?
momhappe1 replied to momhappe1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had a c-section and nother operation in the area, which should not be a problem. But I have had 1 lapascopic surgery to remove part of an ovary and my appendix. Which they found a tumor in ( appendix, which was cancer) so then they did a right colon recection(sp?) to check for more cancer. By the way they did not find any and I am now 3 years cancer free :-). Those are the two scars that I am worried about. From what I have read it looks like they do this surgery above the belly button, which if true, I should be ok. As most of my operations are below the belly button. I asked my nurse about having it open surgery and she acted like I was crazy, said that this was a lap surgery and she has never heard of it being open. My first thought was OMG find a new doc. But I will see what the doctor says when I get to meet him next month. I will keep you all posted as to what he says. thanks for your replies as the more information I get on this the easier it is to set my mind to do this. -
I totally agree with both of you. I wear all black... Most things with color are not to attractive. Not to mention that the "New Style" is sleevless. Now, I do not know about you, but the last thing that I want to wear is something with my arms hanging out. All I can say is thank God for Black and suit jackets..

Most Recent Tummy Tuck Before/Afters
momhappe1 replied to FDATrialGuineaPig's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
You are my new hero.. that is on my todo list after I get to goal. I have so many scars on my tummy now that are so ugly. I figure that one is better then 6. How long were you off on this one? I know that this is much more of a major surgery. Great job - you look great! Now I know that I am not the only one that sees that tummy in the mirror(your before pic). I call it the c-section hang over.. YUK!! -
Hello, I am new to the Lap-Band world. I am in the begining stages of my journey. I have the class on August 19, 03 and am hoping to have surgery in November. I would love to hear from anyone who has had this done, how they feel, their weight lose and time it took, how long it took them to get back to work, desk job, and anything that they want to share with me. I am a single mother and am worried about having another surgery, but am more worried about living my life fat any longer. Also would like to hear from anyone that has had this done that had prior ab operations. I am really excited about finding this site and I really look forward to getting to know you all.

Thank you for the reply. That is what I am hoping for. with my work load I will not have time to do this until November and am planning on doing it over vacation. May I ask how long ago you had this done and how your weight lose is going? Also, is that post op program alot like that of the By-Pass? From what I have read about both of them, they seem to be a lot a like. Has anyone had this done that has had several tummy operations before? I am worried that I will have to be swithed to conventional surgery.
