  1. Your husband threatened to remove you from his insurance policy if you decide to go ahead with the surgery?? Do ultimatums work on you and does he always get his way by making threats?? I'm sorry, but that is awful !! I think he feels threatened that other men will find you attractive if you lose weight... that is called insecurity.
  2. Are sleevers allowed to take nsaids for pain ? I know they are off limits for RNY patients because of the chances for ulcers.
  3. I took my mom to most of my appointments and classes. She was scared at first but soon became my main support person. Youtube videos are very informative too if you can't get your mom to attend visits with you.
  4. I am pre op also, but I have heard that the more you work out before surgery the easier the recovery. Get that heart and lungs working good before surgery and you will be up walking around just hours after.
  5. I appreciate the suggestions and they sound like good ideas. Thanks.
  6. I am what Kaiser calls a "reactivated case". I was in their bariatrics program years ago but dropped out and recently have been approved to go back. In the 4 years that I was gone, I gained 40 pounds. Kaiser wants me to lose that 40 pounds before surgery and they have given me approx. 4 months to do it... They gave me a meal plan and told me to exercise. I am going to have to BUST MY A** to lose this weight in 4 months and I need some serious suggestions...
  7. That is a great accomplishment !!! You should be proud. Jolly is a beautiful dog by the way.
  8. I have not had surgery yet, but I have been taking Biotin, coQ10, flax seed oil and Krill oil for years. My hair is almost waist length, strong and shiny. I started taking it because I was clogging up the shower drain with hair. I don't clog the drain anymore...
  9. Foxbins is right... My BF's sister lives in Mexico and even he refuses to drive into Mexico. He says we fly in and rent a car or we don't go. It's too risky to announce you are a foreigner.
  10. I pray for my boobs to disappear !!! I am a 42 DDD and I hate them !!! I want a B cup !!
  11. Hey, it's keeping you busy and time flies when you are busy !! Congrats on not being tempted.
  12. Sure... but when we are asked for our opinions and you choose to call names of people who don't give you the answers you want, don't expect to sweep the sh*t under the rug so easily. It pisses me off to waste my time on people who claim to want opinions, but don't !!!
  13. Wow... You jumped down my throat and accused me of being cruel because I wouldn't help you make up a believable lie ?? That's CLASSLESS !!!
  14. You said... "They know that I had surgery. What do I tell them when they ask me what type of surgery I had? Ive tried the " major abdominal surgery" excuse, but I think I need something better..more specific. What should I say?" Sooo, you posted this thread looking for support ? or you posted this thread asking for a believable lie to tell people ? BECAUSE the title says you are searching for a believable lie...
  15. Thanks Greg !!! The post said, "What do I tell people?" My opinion is be HONEST !!! There are so few honest people now days...
  16. I am not the only one who feels this way... see this post http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/24330-please-do-not-remain-silent-about-your-sleeve/page__pid__205996#entry205996
  17. CALM DOWN !!! I did not intend to be cruel or call anyone a liar. I am not JUDGING anyone !!!! I am just saying that I think it is HELPFUL to share what you are going through and it could possibly open the minds of ignorant people who have misguided views of WLS. Sorry I did not mean to hit a nerve with you !!!
  18. After seeing my mother though a liver transplant because of fatty liver disease...
  19. I always like the honest answers. Why would you lie? Are you ashamed ? The reality is, when they see the weight dropping off, they are going to "talk" and come up with the truth all by themselves, no matter what you say.. People are not stupid. I say be honest !! WLS is nothing to be ashamed of and your experience could possibly help someone else. What if everyone on this board "lied"? We would never get the help we searched for.....
  20. Be prepared to jump through a few hoops with Kaiser... They require a few classes and such to better prepare YOU. That way YOU aren't asking people on this board questions that should be answered already by your surgeon or aftercare staff...
  21. This is the information Binder they give us in class at Kaiser. This will give you some idea of what they teach before surgery. Be aware that all Kaiser Hospitals are different and have different processes... This Binder is from My facility. http://www.permanent...r/pdf/39806.pdf
  22. I am with Kaiser in California. They do WLS (RNY,Sleeve and Band) on patients with a BMI of 40 or greater with special circumstances like comorbid conditions like diabetes or knee and/or hip problems / arthritis , or in Patients with a BMI of 50 or more with no comorbid conditions.
  23. I had to do an official recorded weigh in, but the problem was that I had lost 11 pounds prior to that recorded weigh in and I wanted that weight loss to count !! I brainstormed and came up with a plan. I would wear 11 extra pounds to my weigh in... have you ever felt what 11 pounds feels like? it's crazy heavy !!! I strapped 5 lbs. ankle weights on under my jeans and put 6- 1 lb. bars in my bra under my (large) breasts and headed to the doctors office. I walked across the parking lot and up three flights of stairs to his office and was a freaking sweaty mess by the time I got there !!! I was red in the face and struggling not to drag my feet from the weights around my ankles, but I made it !!! I got myself weighed, then I then had to wear those weights all the way back down stairs and across the parking lot to my car again !!! Moral of this story is, weights give an added advantage to walking for weight loss. By the time I reached my car, I lost those 11 pounds on the floorboard of my car. Seriously, I wear those ankle weights every time I walk for exercise now. I get a much better work out !!!
