  3. I also had my surgery on August 26th and i totally feel what you are saying about the liquid diet. Some things that are helping me through are the wonton soup broth. I love it. My doctor has allowed me to progress to thin cream soups, yogurt and pudding which satisfies the sweet tooth. Yesterday i was allowed to start thin mashed potatoes (this is the only time my doctor will allow mashed potatoes) and today I'm allowed to have well chewed bananas and strawberries. I'm not sure what eating plan your surgeon has you on but these are some foods that have really helped me through. I'm allowed to start slowly adding scrambled eggs on Wednesday. Cream of wheat is another food that has really kept me satisfied. It's warm, filling and you can use splenda brown sugar to sweeten it a little. I read that you've been chewing on ice chips but maybe try a sugar free popsicle. You can chew on it and it taste good. I also have the same problem with the stomach growling. Sometimes i have a hard time telling if i'm hungry or not. I have figured out for myself that if my stomach is growling and i'm light headed, then i'm hungry.

    Sept 8th....OMG!

I got banded on August 26th and i was scared too but i promise you, you feel and remember nothing!!.. lol.. The most painful part of that day was getting the I.V. They came in, put something in my I.V and the next thing i remember is the nurse talking to me and telling me i was in recovery. I was so out of it, i looked at her and said.. "Did i get a lap band already?" She laughed and said yes. I was walking around 15 minutes after she woke me up. I went to the surgery center at 7am and i was home in bed by 12:30. My biggest suggestion for you is to take your pain meds before you go to bed after your surgery. I was so medicated from surgery that i didn't take any more pain meds and at 4am, i woke up in agony and tears. My mom immediately gave me the liquid pain meds but it took about 15 minutes to kick in. It was 15 minutes of hell. Stay ahead of your pain the first couple of days. Gas-x dissolving strips work great for the gas and they taste good too.
  5. I'm 10 days post-op. I had a cigarette the day before my surgery and had no problems. (I smoke about 5 cigs a day) All doctors that i had during the 6 month pre op of course wanted me to quit smoking but it was not required. My insurance or doctors did not demand that i quit to have surgery. I didn't even know a nicotine test existed. I have not smoked since my surgery mostly because i haven't felt like it but i already have my cravings back.
  6. You are not alone. I'm 10 days post op and i still have a little pain. The first 3 days I was taking the liquid hydrocodone to stay ahead of the pain. Advil now does the trick. My doctor told me to walk for 5 minutes every hour once i left the surgery center. This helped a lot. I also took the gas-x dissolving strips. Those were wonderful and they taste good. lol.
