  1. Hair loss can be from the lack of Protein. If your not getting enough in, you will lose your hair. Start there. My hair started falling out on the edges and back when i hit 3 months! It is alarming! I am now working on getting in at least 60-80grams of protein a day. I also take Biotin every day. Biotin will not stop the hair loss but proper protein will. I strongly suggest consulting with your dr for a plan just for you. It could be other reasons for the hair loss. Hope this helps.

  2. Thanks for the reply. I have not thrown up once since surgery on 8/15 thank goodness. However, I've felt nauseous since 4 weeks after surgery. Now I'm sure its 90% mental but its still very challenging! As for crackers, have to be careful on the carb intake and not start bad habits my doc says. so, I have tried to focous. As for toast, I don't like bread anymore. It feels so heavy and uncomfy that I rather not eat that. And eating slow...lol if u eat any slower it will take a week to eat a cup of food....lol

Now the cottage cheese I have not tried. I have never cared for it so just never tried but I will today. Again, thanks for the reply. Hoping to find someone that has experienced the constant nauseous feeling.

  3. So I have been feeling nauseous almost all day all the time! I really don’t like to eat much and I am so turned off to Protein Shakes (yuk!) Has anyone else become addicted to sugar free mints or sugar free hard candies to prevent from throwing up?

Also, I’m getting 600-800 cals a day and taking my Vitamins and most days I get in my 8 glasses of Water or crystal light. Doc says that the nauseous feeling should go away but I am starting to resent food period…lol! Hoping not to develop a non-eating problem here! :(

  4. Hey! Im doing the C25K now. However, i have modified it to fit me right now. So, rather than running, i speed walk when she says run...lol! Its great and i feel great. Then i do my 10 Minute Trainer (Tony Horton, Beach Body) workout. Its fab! Works the entire body and uses resistance bands and you dont need anything at all but you!

My goal is to hit 199 by 10/16/2011. Then i will start the C25K again and run this time :D

I look forward to giving the Couch to 5K plan a try. At what weight do you think running won't hurt the knees?

I still have 2 weeks before I can do anything more than walking. I'm sooooo looking forward to Kickboxing and maybe some Zumba.

  5. That’s interesting… my hubby said he feels from all the posting he reads a lot of sleevers are scared on the inside and wants me to find a more positive way of enjoying my sleeve :P And I actually get it! I think we take on the challenge of weight and then we don’t like our boobs, our skin our etc… and we become obsessed with making everything over or wanting to anyway…lol

I think there are some great docs that don’t leave scars out there but I’m sure it will cost money! I’m sure no matter what you do you will look great! Enjoy your sleeve and stay healthy!!!

I talked with my husband about this very topic after I posted earlier, and he says he personally would prefer no scars... I haven't done any research at all about the various procedures (I'm talking here about either a lift or an augmentation), so I don't know what the scar profile is for any of them--does that factor into anyone's decision?

I'm getting less and less happy with the shape and texture of the girls, and I know they're going to keep getting saggy and wrinkly as I continue to lose weight. I look great with my bra on, and my husband says he's fine with them no matter what shape or size they are, but he doesn't want scars. So I guess I need to do some investigating and see what's available. I'm still not planning for a procedure, but there's no harm in checking things out and being informed.

  6. I was finally able to meet Angela who started off around the same weight as me pre-op! 24 months out she looks great and is wearing a 38DD!

She is happy with her size and has no complaints of saggy flat breast! YIPPEEEE! She said what worked for her was eating right, Water, Protein, Vitamins and staying active at least 4-5 days a week. So, another great story to hear about! : ) keeps me encouraged and hopeful…lol

  7. I agree. However, at 40 and seeing the long and short term affects of breast implants I know I will pass! I'm married to a great man and he says implants are nice to look at but he couldn't support the cosmetic surgery or seeing me go thru that. In sure that's not for me at this stage of the game. But hey, I'm not knocking anyone who does. If I was in my 20's sure but I'm good...lol. just need to stay beautiful on the inside as my Hubby says ....baby you got the outside covered boobs big or small : )

  8. Wow, sorry to hear that. I'm only 3weeks out but they are still very full just shrinking. I do feel better because its less stress on my back and neck. I just don't want to lose all of them! But, they still look good in or out of the bra now. I think it may also be where we start of and how much we lose. I'm looking at losing 70-80lbs. I walk every day and I work out 4days a week and I'm keeping a postive outlook!

Actually, after reading so many sad stories, I started to feel a little depressed about this boob thing. One day my husband said why would anyone who loves being happy watch and read about unhappy daily? Made sense : ) so I'm hopeful...lol

  9. LOL! I KNEW THERE WAS A GREAT STORY OUT THERE! YOU ARE MY NEW BEST CYBER VSG FRIEND....LOL!

Also, my doc said its important to keep a good support bra during this process! I'm glad he said that because I just couldn't wait to get out of my bra but now you can't pay me to take them off! I need all the help I can get!

Ladies there is Hope and her name is Foxbins : ) I needed this! Thank you so much.

  10. Im going to hold onto my mental picture that i will be the first to still have great full boobs that i love...lol I know i can do it i know it! This is so depressing...

Unfortunately I lost a lot from the boobs as well. Pre surgery I was a 38G Now 36 DDD. :( And I have room in those bras So now maybe I'm a 36DD. I'm am looking into getting my boobs overhauled in the spring. Along with getting rid of the bat wings. :)

    Deb.

  11. I know this may be TMI...but i need to hear from some ladies out there please!

So i started off a 44H and 3 weeks post op im a 40H! Please o please dont let them go all away!!!! My trainer says i will be fine and in the dd's or ddd's. Anyone have experince with this??? Please give a girl some hope...lol

  12. I'm 5'5 and my starting weight was 244.5. I had high blood pressure, joint pain and cervical arthritis (in my neck). I have been between 230 and 244 for over 15yrs. I use to weigh 136 but when i got pregnant with my last child 15yrs ago i got sick and gained over 60lbs during the pregnancy and 40+ afterwards. I have never been able to get the weight off! Me being blessed as i am : ) carried the weight well! Mostly in my breast and thighs which seem to be a favriote for the lovers of the thick girls...lol (this was not helpful at all!). So, being accepted and encouraged to keep my voluptuous shapely body, i just stayed the way i was. At 40 i am not willing to live this way another day! So, i went to a Weight Loss Center in Newport News VA that had FULL support and began my journey.

I chose Dr. Clarke at the Center For Weight Loss. This was the best thing i ever did! He has weight loss university, gym onsite, fully stocked and loaded store onsite and online with everything you need for life...lol Also, webinars, podcast and you have to meet with one of hIs personal trainers at least three times post op. Also, he has an amazing support group that is informative and fun : ). This Dr. is so down to earth that after one of the support group meetings he had a line dance coach to come in to show us more things we could do to move and he was out their dancing with us! Love this Dr. and ALL his staff! I am with them for an entire year after my surgery under his supervision and can maintain afterwards as well.

On to the Sleeve! So, i had mine on 8/15/11. I went in at 8:30am and into surgery at 11:25am. I had no clue that i was allergic to narcotics so it landed me an overnight stay : (. I went home the next day and things have been good thus far. The only issues i had were days 4-7. I could not drink the Protein. It was yummy but after less than an ounce, my tummy felt like it was full and about to pop open from the pressure (ugghhhh!) so i was only getting about a 1/2 a cup a fluids a day and it was not fun. Dr. took me off the Protein and said get the Water in because its the most important. Everything has been great from there. I drink at least 2 bottles of 16oz Water, maybe a lil apple juice (6oz) and a few Popsicle's. I have had Dannon plain yogurt and add in a lil sugar free jelly, pudding and im fine. I still cook for my family everyday and make sure they get what they need, and some days i wish i could chow down with them but after the doc told me the found fat on my liver...ummmm i'm good!

So, 244.5 day of surgery and 9 days out 222.4!!!

I have my two week follow up on the 30th to hopefully move to soft/puree stage (please God). And thats my lil journey thus far. My goal weight is 153.

I am looking for any members that are in the 757 area that meet offline or any group that may meet offline once a month in VA
