    Slow weight loss

Almost 2 months for me, and I feel like my weight loss has been really slow too. I had my first fill yesterday (Saturday), so hoping I will feel more restriction! I have to keep reminding myself of how MUCH and how poorly I was eating before. And to stay positive and know that I am becoming healthier every day.
  2. had my first fill Saturday!

    4cc filled to 5cc

had my first fill Saturday, 4cc's...it took about 30 seconds. Super fast, no pain at all. I am on liquid diet through tomorrow, and hope it gives me more restriction. Right now, stomach is just gurgling a LOT, and I am worrying that it worked........

  5. I had carbs this weekend. I was camping, and forgot my Protein mix, and felt SUPER hungry. I am 3 weeks post op--I only had about 4 ounces of rice one night, and ate it nice and slow, and seemed to be OK with it. I also ate huge crouton the next night with a few pieces of lettuce. I couldn't imagine never eating carbs again, and am OK with having just a tiny bit every now and then. I actually am hoping after a fill or two, that they WILL be harder to tolerate.....
  6. So, I met up with friends and the kids tonight for pizza and breadsticks at Pat N Oscars, and I did not have ANY. I am just so amazed that I could do that! I am 8 days post-op, so I had a Protein shake before I left and am emergency sugar-free pudding in my purse. I was so scared I wouldn't be able to stop my self from sneaking in a little bite of pizza, yet, I DID (stop myself, that is)! I really had doubts that this band thing would work--I am such an emotional eater, and even told my doctor I eat when I am NOT hungry all the time. I can't believe I am actually doing this, and surviving without junk food all day...... I still feel like I am walking on eggshells though--I haven't told a SOUL about my surgery for fear that it might not work, sigh.... but, I think it just MIGHT be working! Thanks for letting me share
  7. still tentative about mushies---today I felt so unsatisfied and hungry, so did the full liquid diet. Big cookies and cream protein shake for breakfast, thick ole smoothie for lunch--ended up drinking 1500 calories today.....this is challenging!

    What about your bras?

well, congrats on getting smaller! I was banded same day as you---bras & everything else still fits OK. Maybe adjust the straps--I know mine are now let out ALL the way.
  9. day 17! ate my first REAL food in 17 days

  10. wow--I bet that feels so awesome!!! I can't imagine! I haven't shopped for clothes in so long, and I've always HATED shopping. Your story is so inspiring, LOVE it! I'm doing a cartwheel right beside you, LOL

    Day 18 update

sounds like you are on the right track! I was banded 9-2-11, and haven't gotten my weight since my one-day post op. A 40 pound loss sounds miraculous--I know I am nowhere close to that, but knowing my clothes do feel just a BIT more roomier is fine with me for now!
  12. I was banded on Friday Sept. 2--so took the long weekend off, Labor Day, and went back to work on Tuesday. I was glad to go back, My doctor said if I was off work, I shouldn't just lay around all day--and that's basically all I wanted to do. And, I couldn't stop thinking of FOOD the first few days, so for me, it was nice to go back and keep busy at work.

    Broth.....ick ?

I thought the vegetable broth was not bad at all--just basic store brand canned. I did add a baby carrot while cooking it--I don't know if that did the trick, but I liked the taste.
  15. such good advice, and yes, WE ARE DOING THIS!! Tell me I can do it vanilla Honey--that helps so much somehow, LOL!! Its so hard to change bad eating habits, isn't it? Right now, (SURPRISINGLY to me!) I am kind of at the point where I am afraid to try anything. I should be able to add soft foods, but passed all weekend, for fear that my appetite would over take me and I would just lose control and eat everything!! I have probably been eating too many sugar free fudgsicles--4 a day--but I have to keep reminding myself that is a lot better than polishing off half a tub of FULL FAT ice cream every night like I used too. but, yes, WE CAN DO THIS!!!

    productive burping

Oh no! I am so worried about that happening to me....I was scheduled for my 2 wk. post op today, but had to miss it because I could not get out of work in time. I was actually a little relieved, so scared to move to "mushies" and beyond (LOL) as I have gotten quite used to the full liquid diet. How are you doing otherwise with regular food? Are you filling up quickly? Are you craving any "bad" food? I think my fear is, once I get a taste of REAL food again, my appetite will be unsatiable.....
  17. I tried this once and it wasn't bad-- I mixed vanilla Greek yogurt with sugar free chocolate pudding. I pretended the yogurt was whipped cream, LOL It was OK, and SUPER filling! oops, don't know why this posted 2x

    9 months post op

Thank you so very much for sharing! And congrats on your success! I am just 2 weeks post op today--I am a little worried about mushies stage starting, and everything else to come!! I've gotten quite used to my Protein shake, creamy Soup, pudding diet, LOL I definitely am taking it slow! I have not weighed myself since my day 1 post op appt.... I don't own a scale, so its pretty easy NOT too! But I know when I did have a scale, I got obsessed with jumping on it every day. Thanks again for your great story!

    Abdominal pain during preop diet.

I had serious stomach pain the morning of my surgery--felt gassy and bloated --doc said not to worry, and everything went fine! So far, so good
  21. Mind over matter---so true! Its funny, I keep thinking back to that night and thinking, what if I did have pizza? It would be OVER NOW anyway, and I would feel worse, not better! RIght now, I cannot even think of going 4 months without ever having pizza again, but then again, 14 days ago, I did not think I would last a DAY without any bread at all!! LOL--congrats on 4 months, and happy to hear you're NOT missing it

    Feeling Down

Brat, you poor thing! I thought I was going to change my mind a million times too--it was such a long process from my first consultation to my surgery date... My experience was the opposite tho, I had barely finished filling out my paperwork when I was taken into a room and they started my IV. Well, I am horrible with shots, and almost passed out on the spot before that IV had even started. I guess I turned pure white and was sweating profusely, so about 4 different people came in to talk to me. I admitted to being so nervous. One nurse told me, its OK, I can change my mind. When that idea was spoken out loud to me, my first reaction was, NO! I can't give up now! I think her just letting me know I had the power to change my mind made me more determined not too, if that makes sense..... My doctor also gave me some great advice; he told me its good to feel nervous because that means your brain is anticipating the changes about to take place, and preparing my body for them.....for some reason, that gave me comfort, thinking MY BRAIN has a lot of control over my weight loss too, not just hunger or cravings... Hope this helps a little, good luck to you!
  23. Also full liquids accroding to Dr. Gee: Sugar Free pudding, & Sugar free fudge bars--my favorites treats of the day!
  24. My Doc gave me the OK to mix in a little sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast or Sugar Free Jello mix in with the Protein powder. He said just half a teaspoon, but it does seem to add so much more flavor!
  25. Love this advice SisterSue---thoughts like this are what help keep me motivated. Thinking about my kids and how I am going to be stronger and leaner and more energetic and how THAT will benefit them....
