  1. The time is finally here!! For some reason, I am just anxious to get this over with. I am going to be really pissed if I don't wake up! lol Seriously, if something did go wrong and I am one that didn't make it, this surgery would be my most selfish act as a mother. That is my only concern. I am doing this to have a longer life with my baby. Can you even imagine the opposite?!! Okay, stupid me just read a book from Amazon written by a surgeon for WLS. Of course he had to talk about losing a patient to a blood clot. ARGH!! Oh well, I am a big believer in fate. Hope to see you all on the losers bench in a few days! I have a 3 day hospital stay. Seems longer than a lot of you that I have read about. My surgeon does that for all his patients. All our surgeons are all so different! oh well, Ready to get this over with! I guess I should start packing now! Tracy P.S. I will let you all know if sniffing alcohol pads takes nausea away!
  2. My surgery is Monday. YIKES! I was just wondering how most people felt 4 weeks out. That is my birthday. Are you still on liquids or puree? Just curious how people felt after one month!

How do you feel 4 weeks out?

Wow! I can't believe you are able to eat solids at 4 weeks. That is GREAT! Thanks everyone for responding!

    5 days pre-op!

No Pain pump for me! That actually sounds nice. You get to be in your own bed AND you still have the pain pump!! Good luck! I will get back on here the first chance I get!

    5 days pre-op!

Hi Jennifer! I hope you are doing good today! Tomorrow is our bid day! I can't believe you are staying 1 day only. My doc is making me stay for 3 days. I am not sure if I envy you and would love to go home or if I want to be at the hospital through the worst of it. TIme will tell!! Good luck tomorrow. I can't wait to hear how you do!
  6. Hi, My surgery is Monday at Fountain Valley. I was just wondering how the hospital was and if you had any kind of review you could give me for their bariatric floor!?

    I'm sleeved!!!!!

It is SUPER encouraging to hear how good you are doing! I am March 14th and actually feeling a bit more calm than I did the beginning of this week. At the beginning of this week, I was thinking of not doing. I am doing this pre-op diet, so why can't I just lose the weight on my own. Today, I don't feel that at all and I am ready to do this. I guess what I am saying is, I am all over the place! I hope I have as good a recovery as you do!!

    5 days pre-op!

My surgery is the 14th! I am super nervous. I read somewhere, can't remember where, that a nurse told a sleever that when she got nauseous to sniff an alcohol pad. She said it took the nausea away instantly. So I got me some alcohol pads packed for that reason. It is worth the try at least. Also, when we get home, sucking on a lemon gets rid of nausea I hear. I am getting so nervous. Trying to read success stories. So far, everyone says it feels like you have been hit by a Mac truck. Also at first, they say, what have I done to myself. Then later nobody regrets it! So I am focusing on the later! Good luck and try the alcohol pads! You never know!
  9. I am getting sick too!!! My surgery is Monday and I have had a bad cold ALL week! I think it is going to be gone by Monday. At least I hope and pray! As long as I don't have a fever, they will do the surgery. Also, my surgeon said I could take Sudafed! Good luck to you. I have been stressing out BIG TIME!!
  10. I FINALLY got my date today! My surgery is for March 14! I couldn't be happier. I have it set to take 2 weeks off from work and the 3rd week is my Spring break! Now I will get 3 full weeks of recovery! I have no idea if that is not enough or too much, but I am happy for 3 weeks! I still have the little voice that keeps asking why I can't do this without surgery! I watch a lot of Biggest Loser! I feel confident and happy and not scared of the surgery, but a tiny part of me still questions if I am really doing the right thing! Yikes! My cousin had it and had outstanding results! She had a very easy recovery and looks AWESOME! The other thing I keep thinking over and over is...what if it doesn't work for me and I still don't lose weight! Yikes! I know that is a crazy irrational thought, but when you are at your highest weight, it is hard to imagine being thin.
  11. DazyKrazie

    i did it!!!!

Congrats!! Glad to hear you are doing good! I am happy for you! Did you wake up with a tube to breathe or not? They told me I might and I am freaking out!
  12. I also have been nauseous. My daughter actually is sick and threw up last night, so I just figured I have what she has, but maybe not! Weird! I do great at work. The problem is when I come home. I want just a little tiny something tp eat. It helps reading what everyone is writing. I just want Monday to get here and be over with already! THis might be the longest week ever!

    Tomorrow is THE day!!! Yikes!!!

Good luck to you! Can't wait to hear how it goes. Mine is next Monday and I am getting anxious! Think positive!
  14. Today was day one of my pre-op diet as well. I am sooooooo disappointed in myself. I did great, and to be honest I wasn't even that hungry. Then I came home from work....still not really hungry. I made my 3rd shake of the day and drank it. Then I saw the bag of cheez itz. Crap, I had like 4 of them. I just gave in. I was SO MAD at myself!! I wanted to be so strict and I couldn't even get through day 1!!! Tomorrow is another day. I have an easy plan even. I have to drink 4 to 5 protein shakes a day PLUS I get to have one meal that is 300 calories. I called my doc and asked if I had to drink all 4 shakes or if I could skip it if I wasn't hungry. They told me I had to drink all 4. I thought that was really weird! I also asked if I could eat a Subway 6 in. Turkey that is less than 300 calories and they said anything is fine as long as it stays under 300 calories! Wow! I was shocked. I think I will do better the rest of the week. I have been really getting nervous about it and surgery next Monday.

    March Role Call!!

Tomorrow I start my pre-op diet and Monday the 14th is my sleeve. I am GETTING SICK!!! Sore throat, stuffy nose, achy...I am freaking out. I don't want them to postpone my surgery. The only good news is I have no appetite. That will help for the pre-op diet. Getting worried!
  16. DazyKrazie

    sleeved on Monday

Did you wake up with a tube down your throat? My pre-op nurse said that could happen and I instantly panicked inside. My surgery is March 14. It is really great to hear how good you did!! Congrats on your new tummy!
  17. Hi, I just had my pre-op appt. I am getting sleeved March 14th. There was basically just one thing that freaked me out that the nurse mentioned. She told me that I may wake up with a tube down my throat and not to freak out. I instantly knew that if that happened to me, I would definitely freak out for sure!! She said it depended on the anesthesiologist and what they think. I am just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Maybe it never happens, maybe it happens a lot more than I ever thought or knew. I just don't know. She also freaked me out about blood clots a little. Walk, walk, walk! I hear that is the key!!

    I need to Vent...

I start my one week pre-diet, next week! I have to drink 4 to 6 protein shakes a day AND I get to eat 1 300 calorie meal a day. Anything I want as long as it isn't over 300 calories. When I heard that, I was a little bit more relieved! I am dreading what's to come, but looking towards the finish line!

    Question for post sleevers!!

Thank you to everyone!! I have loved reading about how everyone woke up!! I am feeling much calmer about the whole tube thing now. I just keep telling myself....whatever happens through this entire process...."just go with it and get through it!!!"

    Tomorrows the Physc eval

My Psych Eval is this Tuesday at 6:30 am. I can't believe it is that early! I am a wee bit nervous. Can't decide if I should take the whole day off work or try to make it to work in time. I am a teacher and school starts at 8. A lot of you said it was 2 1/2 hours long. They told me I should be out by 7:30, since I am the first patient of the day! Hmmm what to do!? If I am done by 7:30, I could make it to school by 8. Next Friday is my upper G I and then I am all DONE with all pre-op requirements! Yay! I am extremely nervous about the UGI. I hope I can get the Barium down. I also, hope it isn't a lot. I just have no idea about it. This is all happening fast. My very 1st appt. was the end of October, just to make sure it was really what I wanted to do and the next thing you know, I am going full speed ahead!
  25. I just joined this forum a few mins. ago. Trying to figure it all out. I met with my surgeon for the first time at the end of October. He asked me when I thought I wanted to have my surgery. I told him that maybe the end of May or first of June would be good. I am a teacher and I thought having the summer to recover was a good idea. He told me that I didn't need a summer to recover from this and he thought I should look more towards the end of December! I couldn't even believe it!! This is all happening so much faster than I could EVER have imagined! I got my EKG, blood work, met with the nutritionist and saw my regular doctor. I have an appt. for my pulmonary function test and can walk in anytime for the chest x-ray. That leaves two things left to do.....upper g i test, which freaks me out because of the barium drink and meeting with a psych!! Did anyone else have trouble finding a Psych? I can't even believe how difficult it has been. My family doc referred me to one. When I told them why I needed one, they said they would call me back. They never did, so I called again and I got the same answer. The person I needed to talk to would call me back. Still, never did. Meanwhile, I got pre approval from my insurance co. Finally, I got to talk to the person who handled people needing WLS and she said they could not see me because I am a PPO and they do not have a contract for that. My surgeon gave me several pages of Psych's to call, and I didn't have success with one of them! I really think this is weird and strange. Not what I expected to be an issue. Next week, my goal is to find someone to see me. I guess I will have my ins. co. refer me to someone. I have had zero success with this, but also now that I am on Thanksgiving break, I can devote more time to it. Just curious how others found their Psych. So, what is an Upper G I like? How much barium do you have to drink?
