  1. No, no thyroid med. I am perfectly healthy, just fat. :tongue2: I am scheduled for a blood test for next month, we will see what comes of that.
  2. I was sleeved on 12/5. The WHOLE first month SUCKS. That is the ugly truth. It does get SOOOO much better. I can eat what I want, just very small portions, which is OK. It is a learning experience and you have to adjust to your new body. I would do it over again ...and again, and again. NO REGRETS. Focus more on your fluid intake right now. That is the main thing you should work on for the 1st week. Sip, sip, sip and WALK, WALK, WALK. It really does help. This stage is only temporary and it will be a distant memory very soon! Good luck and keep on truckin'!
  3. I wish I would have known how tired I would be post-op. I'm 2 months out and much better than 1 month ago. My energy is coming back, but I did not expect to be sooooo tired after surgery. AND I AM FREEEEZZZZZING ALL THE TIME!! NO ONE told me that! I used to ALWAYS be so hot (all that fat storage! LOL), now, I am one of those girls that is always cold. I use to get irratated by those girls, always wanting the heater on....now that's ME! LOL!
  4. Their meat is disgusting too. I have bought ground beef and carne asada steaks, and when I cook them, they smell and taste SOUR! I only shop there for frozen name brands and boxed goods. Stay away from anything "fresh" at WalMart.
  5. I drove after 4 days. I was getting cabin fever and needed to GET OUT! I wasn't on pain meds either. I wouldn't have been able to drive on the meds.
  6. SF Jello was a staple for me post-op. SF Popsicles are great too! Make sure they are not the SF fruit bars, those have seeds in them. You want a SF POPSICLE. Congrats!
  7. ONDERLANDS!!! I am 197.5!! Lost 3 lbs this week! Feeling REALLY GOOD! :cheer2:
  8. OH HELLLLL NO!!! I just watched the video and I was kinda OK with it until I saw the electric shock wires!! WTH?! Girl, you are CRAZY!! WOW. It looks pretty intense. I have some pretty good endurance, but this is extreme! LOL!!
  9. I'm interested! I live in Carmichael. There was no link at the end of the post. I know me and a friend of mine would do it. We are pretty tough! :boxing:
  10. Sleeved Dec 5. Down 30 lbs. I measured myself on 12/30 and then again a few days ago, lost 6 3/4 inches in the last month! Really wish I would have measured on surgery day. I am FINALLY in the onderlands! Weighed in at 199.4 on Sunday. Pants from a 22 to 16+- ..Depending on the day. Shirts from 1&2 X shirts to XL. My rings spin on my fingers, my fave ring falls off. I am losing about 1-3 lbs a week. That's OK, as long as I am LOSING! I see others that have lost 40+ and I wonder what I am not doing right, but I think my weight loss is pretty steady, so I am happy. Eating Protein and veggies. No carbs. Every once in a while I will have a bite of carbs, but that's about it. No sweets. Sleevie doesn't like it. NO Protein shakes, I don't like them! My work out schedule is not very regular. 1 hour of cardio and weights when I do work out.
  11. It will only get better from here on out! Congrats!
  12. Isn't week 4 GREAT!!? I remember week 3 and I ate guacamole...I ate guacamole for like 4 days!! Just to be able to have something solid to eat. it was soooooo good!! Wow, it seems so long ago. The 1st month is the pitts, but that is where you will lose the weight the fastest. After week 4, it's a breeze!
  13. Who needs sleep?! LOL! I couldn't sleep either, had plenty of sleep in the hospital though! Good luck and speedy recovery. Your new life awaits on the other side!
  14. 2 months and 1 day and I hit 199.4 today!!!!! FINALLY in the 100's! I haven't seen 100 since 2001. Eating everything except carbs. Not worth it to me and I don't crave them. I did in the begining..CARB MONSTER reared it's ugly head on day 4 post-op, really bad cravings, but I have been really good. Had a couple chips or crackers here and there, just not eating bread, rice, or Pasta. I have had a couple tortillas, but nothing to really track. My sleeve HATES sweets (boo) and that's about it. I have lost 30 lbs post-op, 50 total. I measured myself on 12/30 and then measured myself yesterday. I lost 6 3/4 inches in that month. Really wish I measured my self pre-op. Losing slower than I wanted, but I am still losing, so that's ok. Really REALLY hoping to make goal by July.
  15. I'm really sensitive to sweetness now. EVERYTHING that has sugar in it tastes sooo sweet. Sleevie doesn't like sugars either. That is working well for me though. Sugar was my slider, now I can't tolerate it and it tastes differant.
  16. I TOTALLY feel the same way!! I see food and I'm like, eh...whatever. That is amazing to me because pre-op I was OBSESSED with food! Now I am just eating to live...litterally! I do have this new found love for cooking though! Wierd.
  17. I understand your concern, but you are going about it ALL WRONG. As a woman, we are VERY strong willed and determined creatures. Tell us no and we will prove you YES. Yes, we DO want to look good in our clothes. That is for US. We DO want to feel comfortable in our own skin. That is not for YOU. We want to FEEL sexy. You can tell her and tell her, but until she feels it, your words hold no weight. It really ISN'T about you. Who will care for her? You almost make it sound inconvenient. All I can recommend is that you support her in her decision, because it is her's. The process will be so much harder for her emotionally if she does have the surgery and you are sitting in the dark corner with your arms crossed. She will have to work harder than she has before with the sleeve. If she is lacksy daisy about weight loss, I see why you are concerned. Most of us have faithfully dieted and exercised only to gain the weight back. Most of us can look at a plate of food and tell you how many calories are on that plate. We are professional dieters. This surgery is not for the lazy dieter. Yes, she SHOULD TRY to lose the weight herself with diet and exercise, but I'm telling you, if she makes up her mind, you better get on board or it will be a VERY bumpy ride.
  18. Wow. This is a surgery forum for those who are looking for SUPPORT in their journey. What did you expect "Loving" husband 1979? That we would all applaud you for your cruel and unsupportive forum topic? ATTENTION EVERYONE!!! :director: All you had to do to lose the weight that you have been gaining and losing for YEARS is just PUT THE FORK DOWN AND EXERCISE! Thank you SO much for shedding the light on us. We have been STRUGGLING with our weight, not just trying to lose those last 10-15 lbs, STRUGGLING with 100's of pounds. Your wife is obviously unhappy with her body image...wonder why. "Eat healthy dear and exercise". Yes, we DO have to eat healthy and exercise. VSG is not a magic cure. We need to eat healthy now more than ever before. The risks of her being obese out why the risks of the surgery. PROVEN FACT. Do your research buddy, and don't expect to come into a VSG support group, bag on the surgery and expect us to be soooo happy you shared your opinion with us. We get enough grief from the ignorant A-holes outside of this forum, we don't need it here. God Bless your wife.
  19. WOohOO!!! Down 3.6 pounds!! GRRR....1 lbs away from ONDERLAND!! I will be there next week!!
  20. YEP! You ARE normal! Chest pain/pressure is definatley a signal. I had the same trouble. I would get chest pain/pressure and/or burp alot. Our stomach is still numb from the procedure so we won't feel anything for a while. Follow Dr's orders as far as how much liquid how often. That will help you stay on a schedule and that way you know you aren't taking in too much. At this point, so early, I wouldn't worry about "stretching: the sleeve, I would worry about causing a leak if you are over doing it.
  21. So sorry that you are going thru that. Glad that your being taken care of. Keep us posted!
  22. I was VERY tired until about 1 week ago. I am 7 weeks post op. I was napping everyday, no energy, etc. I feel ALOT better now. No more naps!! Are you on vitamins yet? Sometimes that helps. Especially with Iron. Definatley make protein PRIORITY. Above anything, protesin and Water are your staples. Hope all is well. :biggrin5:
  23. When was your surgery date? How long has it taken you? That is AWESOME!! What a VICTORY. Congrats on your NSV and on being an inspiration to others. :clap2:
  24. Lost 1 LB this week. My "friend" is in town, so hopefully next week will be better. :noidea:
  25. My sleeve loves chicken, all cheeses, and tofu My sleeve HATES sugar. Makes me nauseous, hot and clammy. Maybe it's good that Sleevie Nicks doesnt like sugar, it is a slider for me.
