  1. I am 9 mos out, 110lbs down and love my sleeve every day!! I took out a loan to do this and do not regret a dime of it. It is a lot of work, the first few weeks do suck as you figure it out. A month out I thought to myself "what did you?",I got so tired of smoothies and shakes but I knew that this is all part of breaking an addiction! It isn't all sunshine and roses, it is a "tool" to use to get healthy. If you use your tool correctly, it will work! But it doesn't do all the work... you have to do the work, the changes have to come from you. I went low carb, high Protein. (goals originally were: cal-600, protein-75+, carbs-40). I used myfitnesspal.com to keep track of my calories and exercise. I read the forums, I used http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ as inspiration. I adjusted my mindset. I made the tool work for me and have been successful!! You can too.

I never threw up, only overfilled my pouch once... that hurts, and stayed smart! You can do this and make it work for you!

  2. I actually order a salad portion of chicken. I just ask if I can have a side plate of the chopped grilled chicken they use on salads or I will just order a chicken breast by itself. I haven't really had many restaurants even blink an eye and the last time I did this, they gave me the equivalent of two chicken breasts chopped up and charged me $4.00 for it. This was a nice restaurant too! I had meals for several days! I also take either steak or chicken home and re-season it so I don't get bored.

  3. I use Special K Protein Water mix ins, I put 2 of them in a bottle of water (10gr total), its not much but it doesn't taste like anything but fruit juice. Also I know that nectar has something similar for juice type instead of shake type. Try your shakes with water. Add Silken Tofu (yogurt consistency, no taste) to get that creamy taste and 5 gr protein. Make sure the Proteins don't contain any milk products. Definitely talk to your NUT about it too!

  4. Tina,

I don't know about the menstrual cycle, I have had a hysterectomy so wasn't an issue for me. On the poop issue, I was warned it could be a couple of weeks before that occurred but one think I didn't find out about until it occurred is the "liquid in/liquid out" so beware of that! I guess it depends on your diet. I add Flax Seed oil to my morning shake to help with that also. Natural movers are better! Good luck and congrats!

  5. Let me start by saying, I'm only 12 days out but I've had it relatively easy , got out early from hospital because I was doing so well, not much pain, healing good, able to get shakes down, pretty much getting my Protein in every day, taking Vitamins. Walking some, this is my only downfall...not exercising like I'm suposed to.

M ydoctor told me full liquids for a few days then I can do soft food, so I have done two shakes a day and soft foods. Been getting more in every day, but today after my shake I am feeling queasy and nauseas and last nite my stomach muscles were so sore. We did some shopping this weekend but that is all.

What could be causing this queasy, dizzy, nausiating feeling? You don't think I ruptured anything do you?

  6. Recently someone posted about Vitamins and how hard they are to get down, I didn't want to hijack someone's thread so I wanted to make a new thread. I am able to get the vitamins down ok but need some recommendations for a good Multivitamin and where you get them.

I really would prefer chewable, melts, or gummies but if there are smaller vitamins, that would be great. I can't do the huge one right now... hurts my belly!

    Thanks in advance.

  7. I had my surgery Tuesday and once I got home was told I could do full liquids. I have been concentrating on just having 1%milk and Protein mixed in. Even did Peanut Butter in the shake to get that extra Protein in. I have gotten all the protein in for the day but am struggling to get my 64 oz of Water. I am going back and forth between regular Water and Propel (bleh). I know we can count the shake liquid as our liquid but I am only at 32 oz right now, not sure I can get more in....

I am very bloated with gas, rumbling tummy and feel like I just left a huge buffet but I am optimistic that this too will pass. I can have cream Soups and pudding, etc... but right now I am sticking to the shakes. This was my first full day at home and I don't want to try too many things yet.

My surgeon told me to eat whatever I wanted (full liquid/creamy wise) because I would be taking in so little it didn't matter, she didn't give me a carb restriction. I finally got a calorie goal out of her and she said somewhere around 900 calories!! I thought that was almost double what I should be taking in but she said it was ok.

I am lucky and can get the shakes down relatively easy, takes around 30-45min but I still like them. I have plenty of samples and Torani flavors to mix things up. I also saved the smoothie recipes I found on here and on http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ so I think I will be ok (except for that darn water thing). I have a determination!! We will get thru this everyone!! This site is great for that!

Boy, you can tell I am on the meds, side effect being obnoxious ramblings!! Forgive me

  8. Panda, hope yours went well. Mine did and I got home yesterday. Not really in a lot of pain but am feeling the gas today. I am also experiencing how hard it is to get that Protein in but I am determined to do it!

Sleeve2b, good luck and hope it all went well with you yesterday. I never knew Mexico was an option til I had signed up locally. I am self pay so I know it is a huge difference! I really feel it will be worth getting a loan in the end!

Hoping all goes well for you ladies!!!

And yes, that clear liquid diet sucked!! I am on full liquids now! Much easier.

  9. thank you for all the well wishes. I came home today and am doing pretty well. I now see how hard it is going to be to get the food/protein in but will figure it out. I currently have a Water bottle of Water, unflavored Protein and some Torani Hazelnut Syrup. Been drinking it since 4 and only a third of the way down.

I'm not in a lot of pain but have a buddy ball pain medicine and am still walking.

I have to say, I was in a room with a girl who had the roux n y (sp) and she had to be cut open, hers was done on Monday and they are keeping her an additional day. She was miserable!! But she also was fighting everything and everyone. I felt so bad for her. Glad that I did the sleeve!!!

    Well off to walk some....
