  1. One mile straight? That is awesome! I am SO jealous!! I start my official 5k training today at the gym - so far I can only run roughly 5 mins straight at a slow jog without wanting to pass out....lol

I have 60 more lbs to remove from my body to reach goal, which I am hoping to do by my 40th B-day in March....

    Keep up the good work!

WAY TO GO JENN!!! I know you can get 14 more off before December 29th!

Yes, I feel TONS better! I could barely walk to the mailbox before surgery and now I can walk 10 miles and even run 1 mile straight!

  2. I know exactly what you are talking about...

I have just hit my 6 months and 5th fill (8.5 cc's), and can really feel the restriciton now. Remember it is a learning process and you are learing what and how much you can eat - your old habits are not going to disappear over night. That is why you go in gradually for fills - listen to your body. I was up front with my doctor all along that I was eating more than 4 oz of Protein at every meal, and since I was still droping the pounds he wasn't too concerned. Now, with this last fill however I am struggling to get all 4 oz in and making myself eat slower...I am a shovel it in kinda a gal and I am learning everyday.

Keep your chin up - listen to your body and your head will eventually get it. :D

Ok, so I was banded on June 17. As soon as my swelling went down and I was feeling "normal" again, I started eating like my old self again. No small bites and racing through meals. Yes, there was some restriction and I could feel when I had enough, but it was usually after I had eaten more food than I probably needed.

I had my first fill on August 30. I tried to eat like I had before and guess what? Sliming and nearly stuck on at least four occasions that I can remember.

What is wrong with me? I know in my heart of hearts that I want to be successful and lose this weight, but my mind is not getting it! :(

I am hoping that maybe one or two fills will be all I need to get to the sweet spot. I don't want to end up messing up my band, so I have promised myself to behave and chew carefully after very small bites. I guess it's true...it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks!:P

  3. I thought I was the only one...glad I am not alone....I am trying everything I can think of - maybe it's just because they've been fat for so long, the skin can't shrink back??

I wasn't gonna bring up the thighs, but now that you mention it....I also have the problem that my left side arm is 1.5 inches bigger than my right, and my left thigh is 2 inches bigger than my right...not sure how I got "blessed" with this issue, but seriously...LOL

If you figure it out, please let me know. My arms and thighs look like deflated balloons!

  4. I also cannot eat solid food in the AM - I always have a Protein shake. I drink the Atkins Dark Choc Royale - it has 15 grams of Protein and REALLY low carbs - the cheapest I can find it is at Wal-Mart, 4 for 5.00. The powders are way cheaper, but I don't like messing with them, so the pre-mades work really nice for me. Just remember when trying to choose, you want High protein and Low carbs.

:DHi I am new to the forum this is my first post. I am 7 months post banding and have really good restriciton so am finding it difficult to get good quantities of protein in. i am losing weight steadily at the moment and my band is tighter in the morning so i tend not to have breakfast apart from a cup of tea no food til lunch time. I am walking 4 times per week at the moment and am wondering if i could supplement my diet with a Protein Shake in the mornings??? would it do harm to my weight loss to have a protein drink in the mornings especially as i am not doing any high intensity exercise?? also what amount of carbs is acceptable in a protein drink?? sorry for the ramble thanks in advance for any help

  5. Hello everyone!

I had my lapband on 3/8/11 and I am currently down 69 lbs! I do a lot of walking, but I am now needing to step it up a bit more - so aerobics starts Thursday

One area I REALLY need to focus on are my arms...they are becoming flabby/wrinkly with skin since I have lost pretty fast. Anyone know of any good arm exercises that can help me? I have been trying the backwards chair push-ups (which I love) to try and work the triceps as well as using free weights, but I have yet to see any results...will the flabbiness eventually go away with exercise or will I always have my batwings??

  6. I had my lapband surgery on 3/8/11 - I am now down 69 lbs with total inches lost of 29.50. Total of my bill was roughly $40,000.00 - majority of that cost was the hospital, Dr bill was around $12,000.00 - my insurance covered majority and I only had to pay $500.00 out of pocket, $250.00 of which was the hospital bill.

I will say, you get out of it what you put in it...if you follow your Doctor's program (they are all different) and exercise you will see the weight come off.

Good luck, it will be the best decision you ever make - I know the day I walked into the Dr's office, was the first day of my new life :biggrin3:

  7. Do not be discouraged! The time goes by faster

    than you know it, and

you really need to use this time to wrap your head

    around the surgery, as

well as getting all the insurance required tests

out of the way (I have Blue Cross Blue Shield).

    My insurance required

a 3 month, 6 lbs to lose and keep off, a psych eval, heart/stress test

    and a pulminology

exam - those alone took 3 months to get taken care

    off. Plus, I

actully started giving up the things I knew I could

    no longer have - I was a

HUGE soda drinker....so I gave that up and went

    from there, breads, pastas,

rice....although eventually I will be able to

    have the breads and such,

better to get your self off of them prior to the 2

    week pre-op

surgery....(every Dr is different, but my 2 week pre-op diet was

    3 meals a

day, 2 of which had to be Protein shakes and 1 meal of 4-6 oz of

    protein

only). The reason is to try and shrink the liver so they do

not have to manouver it to much during the surgery since they have to lift it to

    get to the stomach.

Good luck - and remember - stay focused and do not get discouraged!!
