  1. Lol... I am thrilled yall CAN burp. I cant get one out hardly at all. First night i dry heaved and had a nice long burp that was high pitched in a way... Very weird but man i felt better after!
  2. Oh man does mine gurgle! I was also banded on 22nd. The gas x helps some but just walking to get the gas to moving helps. I didnt start having shoulder pain till Sunday. Went back to work today.... MISTAKE! Oh man did I hurt... And tired! It wiped me out!
  3. In your first post you mention you have no restriction but then in second post say that your Dr wants you on liquids but you were hungry so oh well you ate lasagna??? Dear if you are giving in this early you need to call the nurse/Dr/therapist you were seeing and get in to have your head looked at. Do you realize that you can HURT yourself by doing that? Your doctor gives you instructions for a reason and that is so that you will be successful and so that you will HEAL- not sure how you paid for your surgery but if insurance was involved you might want to check on the coverage for complications caused by noncompliance- most wont pay... Just an FYI.
  4. @Cindy C.... OMG I am laughing so hard my incisions hurt! So true though... I had a few random thoughts go through my head when I read this... I mean that is a whole new definition to swallowing! Cant believe I said it but I am still in awww in general at the post! LMAO!!!!
  5. When you find the answer let us know cause I soooo want one of those!
  6. So I spoke to soon... I have had no shoulder pain till today. I am 4 days post op. It seems worse after I eat. Is that strange? I faintly remember the nurse telling my friend in the recovery room if you get shoulder pain it is usually pretty quick after surgery... Maybe I am the odd ball that way?anyone else not have it till several days out?
  7. Lol i think i felt your pain in this post. I decided to drive my friends son home who came over to do some yard work... Its only a few blocks and i am on tylenol now for pain... Ill be fine! Well my dumb butt didnt figure into that picture that i drive a jeep! Not was climbing in a pain but just the bumpyness of the ride killed me... But i kept the brave face so he wasnt like what the heck! So i dropped him and decided to make it worth it and got an ice tea at sonic... It was a nice treat and to not fi jsh a small compared to the Rt 44 i use to get... That was strange! Tomorrow i am suppose to see a movie with a friend?.. Wish me luch on that one- oh and I go back to work Monday! Yea me!
  8. Are you on full liquids? I know at the hospital cream of chicken is a staple on a full liquid tray. I know before surgery it was a nono cause of the carbs but now we dont have to worry as much about that. When on full liquids a liquid is a liquid no mater what the base. I made myself start drinking some gatorade as well just for electrolytes (or smart water). I am on fill liquid now till thursday and if it runs off a spoon i can have it. Not sure if that helps. I am gagging down some of my protein shits as well. They are so awful but i literally do them like a shot with a Water chaser! But i get some protein at least. I need to have a shake a day too but man i am tired of those!
  9. Were you able to take that much in though? I get full so easily that i would only have half a shake and be stuffed. That is my issue is getting full easily and then i fall behing on fluids and protein.
  10. I so laughed when I read this! That is me! I sent my friend a text earlier and said "i just want to let out a big ol burp! Is that to much to ask!." i can tell when i need to cause I get pain under my left breast too! So cant take a deep breath when it is like that. Is anyone of the other new post op people worried about not having enough Protein intake???
  11. Dont fret to much yet about no BM.. Intestines are the last to wake up from anasthesia. Plus remember you really havent had anything of substance in a while. So if younstart feeling full in that sense do a little miralax or whatever your doc recommended. But i would give it a few days before you get to worried.
  12. Day 3 post op.... Gas is ok. Burping is a pain- literally. Nausea is pretty much gone since I started the zofran. I have had a headache today but I am sure it is from dehydration. I froze some water bottles and that seems to help keep me from drinking to fast. Cream of whatever soups are my friend right now. Each day is better... I have work on monday- that makes me nervous!
  13. @Jason- man that stinks but I think you will find a great group here. I am in a group for Sept 11 banders and we share lots of info. Feel free to read our post. We talk a lot about the diet, restrictions etc. Feel free to join in!
  14. Yeah i hadnt heard about the high acid fruits and veggies. I got IV Nexium the morning of surgery but no rx. I did call (for the forth time) for some zofran... It made a world of difference! I kept down some soup, a popsicle x 2 and some water... YEA! Different docs different philosophies. I love this sight for that reason so i can pull from all the suggestions here to optimize healing, wt loss, etc! Anyone started posting on the post op site yet??
  15. If it is a capsule you can open it and put the contents on pudding or applesauce or something like that. They open up very easily.
  16. I had banded plication too on 22nd (yesterday). Burping is an issue for me too! I have had 3 episodes where I get horribly nauseated then dry heave... Only to have a big belch come out and nothing else. I am taking gas ex like crazy too. I am worried about dehydration cause I know I'm not taking in enough.... Pain is tolerable. Worse when i get up or down. I am excited i just had a popsicle and no nausea afterwards! I havent had shoulder pain either. I get a tinge here and there but not enough to mention... Nothing like with my gall bladder. Keep me posted on how you are doing!
  17. Wonderfully written! Everything is so true! I am sure we can each list a moment like those you mentioned and for me the final draw that made me decide "Never again will that happen... I am getting the surgery!" for me it was not fitting in a seat on an older roller coaster with my neices at six flags. They didnt understand why I couldnt ride and had to get off. I will take them again next summer and ride that ride with them! Just like next summer you will find a sexy summer dress to show off your arms and have your fiance say how pretty you look! Hello the new us is so right! Good luck!
  18. I just looked at that website and for the first time in 3 days food sounds good! Definately gonna try some of the recipes. I'll let you which ones I do and how they taste!
  19. I am day two post op too. My nausea was/is killer. Already calling the doc for more phenergan. I got a little routine going of gas ex then "eat" although yesterday it was just Water, some tea, tried a little Jello but it killed me! I have only taken pain meds three times. I dry heaved twce last night but both times just big belchs was all it was. That thing is an incentive spirometer. It is designed to have you take good deep breaths. With abd surgery especially you tend to breath more shallow. This allows for the lower parts of your lungs to just sit and no air exchange to happen... This leads to pneumonia. I always thell poeple if you are watching TV do one on each commercial you watch. If you are driving just do good deep breaths at every stop light.
  20. So my surgery went well! I was the only case today cause the other 2 cancelled. They got me back and steers my IV. I got some heparin, medium, and ancef (antibiotic). The anesthesia doc came in and we talked and she then gave me some Versed. I got the giggles! So off I went and got to the OR where I got some gas to breath. They ended up giving me lots of other good drugs too. Next thing I know it's 45 min later and I was in recovery. I had some nausea and pain so I got some Demerol and zofran. I was up walking 30 min later. Then I was setting in a chair sipping water. I had some more phenergan and my BP took a little dip. They watched me about another hour then home I went! I slept a lot this afternoon. Pain is tolerable. Just sipping water, tea, and a protein shot (gag). Lots of walking too! Glad I'm done! Hope everyone's went well today!
  21. Ok here I am!!! Dunkin Donuts right next door and my friend stops for coffee! Good thing I have nervous stomach and food sounds blah! I will update from the other side!
  22. Me too! I will be glad to see everyones post tomorrow. I just finished a bottled water and thought... Well. Thats it! So I am off to bed to hopefully sleep some!
  23. Tomorrow is my day too and I am on clear as well. My stomach is not liking it at all and is really growling too!!! To funny! I do have to vent though. I contacted my doctors office to see about pushing my post op appointment back in the day. (Set for Thursday next week at 11am) NOT VERY FLEXABLE! The appointment was set for me without my input on times that would work etc. Then the "nurse" got upset when she learned I only took 4 days off.... which I had approved with them when I was in the office before. I explained my work sitation and her solution was not to move it to after 3 or Tuesday or Thursday it was well I'll just have to call you and review it since you cant leave work. Very belittling... I think I will for sure be mentioning that to my doc tomorrow! Not to mention I have called twice to request zofran ODT since I know that phenergan KNOCKS me out. Boy if I acted like that to a patient I would be in some hot water! Oh well... maybe she hates her job! LOL!!!
  24. That is so awesome! I am happy for you!! I am counting down....32.5 hours till OR! I hope tomorrow goes fast! I fought head hunger bad today... I think i had last meal mentality... I kept thinking i cant eat i cant eat... But then I watched the Biggest Loser and found motivation! I love that show and what great timing for a new season!
  25. @Peps and Bromo- I am having band with plication too. My post op is clear x 2 days full till post op appt which is Friday of next week then i can do ticker liquids for a week then move on to mushies. My birthday is Oct 13 so i hope to get to have solids by then! I am super excited to get this too! I go Thursday and am getting very nervous! I am suppose to go back to work on Monday with a call to follow my shift. I am a little worried I wont be ready but it isnt a job i can easily call in for and only a few know I am having surg.... Cross your fingers!!
