I was allowed Protein Drinks when I was at your stage..........I probably would have starved otherwise...LOL. Then when I was on food the drinks were tossed from the plan!!!

No Protein drinks at all, no liquids AT ALL that have calories. The only exception to any of his "rules" is if you are TOTALLY starving (which we really aren't -- except for head hunger) he says you can have a greek yogurt OR a protein bar.....but he says rarely. Do you all feel sorry for me????

My doctor is REALLY tough...says three meals a day -- no snacking AND meals can only take 30 minutes and then you stop. He says no grazing and of course no drinking for an hour after and 15 minutes before eating. Also, no liquids for meals -- so no Soup, milk on Cereal, juice, etc. YIKES!! Sometimes hard to get the Protein in, but do fine most days. Surgery was 12/22 and I am down 77 pounds since surgery plus 23 pre-op -- whoa...hey that makes 100....cool Still have about 50 to go...

I agree -- crushed pills were SO disgusting. That and puree to me have been the worst part of this whole thing. Well there was a little pain the first week, but not that bad. When I was cleared to swallow pills, I thought about crushing my crusher!!! I didn't just in case!

I was 6 weeks out and got the clearance to swallow my pills as well as Vitamins. WOW....the Calcium and multi were huge, but so far so good. Also taking D3 and Fish oil, but those really just slide down. My regular pills are pretty small. I take them all one at a time but not long between each one....just separate swallows of Water. Luckily I have no problem with water. After I took the first calcium giant, all I could picture was it being too big for my sleeve, but they are thankfully coated so I guess they slide through ok....I hope!! LOL :biggrin5:

They gave me popsicles WITH sugar IN the hospital so it is really okay!! My surgery was December 22, so I am right there with you. BTW, had you had Bypass, you would be sick...yuck!!!

Liquid pre op with a whole stomach and so much junk food at work kinda sucks. Feeling down today........tomorrow will hopefully be better. Surgery will be over at this time next week.

Also survived day one of pre op --- amazing how much food was around work yesterday. I am getting so close... surgery a week from today that I am wavering between being excited and terrified!!!

I start my preop diet today. It is 5 Protein Shakes a day. Guess I'm done chewing for a while!!! Surgery next Thursday with only Clear Liquids the day before. It's really amazing to see how many people are SO supportive and others make it VERY clear that they think I'm crazy to do this when CLEARLY I should just go on a diet.........cuz that's the normal way. GRRRR!! I gave them info to read but don't think it's happened. Oh well gotta look at it as their problem not mine. I am getting nervous about the surgery itself.......long few months. Hope everyone does well.

I have my preadmission testing Thursday ------------ December 1st. I will find out then if I need to be on liquids pre op. I already lost around 25 pounds but they still might want the Optifast... yuck!! I am drinking Protein Shakes that REALLY taste good for Breakfast and lunch right now, but that's my plan (doctor approved) and I still can eat dinner. Well whatever, cuz my surgery is December 22 which means a month from now I will be home on liquids, recovering and sip, sip, sipping. lol!! Pretty excited and want it over. Kind of a long 6 months.... sigh!!! We are all giving ourselves the best Christmas gift ever!!!
