  1. I absolutely love dr ku! He has been amazing and has already removed my band somewhat emergently when I had great difficulty and pain and could no longer eat or swallow correctly. Have you had dr ku? My name is amy. Where are you from? I am still in the pre-op phase for the sleeve' date=' but Insurance has to approve me first and dr ku didn't feel comfortable doing a 1 step revision so now it's a 2 step revision. All good things take time though, right?! :-)[/quote']

I am actually a nurse on the bariatric surgery unit at Reading. I knew him from there. I'm from Reading. Had my surgery the 10th. Going well. Just be patient. Things will work out. Good luck with everything.

  2. I'm in Berks county. I was sleeved Jan 9th. I am doing great. I'm getting all my Protein and fluids in using bariatric broths (15 protein for 8 oz) and bariatric drinks like pink lemonade ( 15 protein) etc. I only have to get in four products a day. I like water' date=' very slowly sipping an oz at a time, and sugar free Popsicles. YUM.

I'm sore but getting better by the day.I'm taking extra strength Tylenol for pain. Today I took a carnation instant breakfast package sugar free and added one Tablespoon powdered Peanut Butter called PB2 and a little ice. It tasted delicious but the froth or foam bothered by stomach SO no more blender right now! other than that I'm hungry for food with consistency but I've done a lot of reading and it seems that our stomachs staples and due to swelling we should stay on full liquids so we don't put undo pressure on the staples. Believe me I want cream of wheat and mashed potatoes but my DR says not for two weeks and although everyone seems to have different Drs with their own view the majority of materials from the web say the same as my DR so I will Just Do It! I am so afraid of a leak and months in the hospital and some texts say it can be deadly to eat semi solids now so I will suck it up. Very soon in a few months we can eat all kinds of glorious foods!! Good luck out there.[/quote']

Hey, who was your surgeon? I am from Reading too. Dr. Ceppa was my surgeon. Surgery was 12/10. Hope your well!

  3. I had Dr. Ceppa and yes' date=' I live in the area... Exeter to be precise. I would love to have someone to talk and walk with! I feel amazingly better today, but it's been a little rough up to this point. How about you? Tell me all![/quote']

Lol I live right outside of Exeter in Pennside. So glad you are feeling better do you have Facebook? If so friend me! My name is Laura Carzado.

  4. Yeah it was hard mentally. I thought I would be ok not eating. Having a rough time with that.

Amen. pizza is my weakness. I'd like to purée some of that and eat it! Lol. Not so healthy though. I can't wait to get to puréed cuz things will taste so much better but I am really taking it slow because sometimes just full liquids if they are the slightest bit too thick get stuck & does that EVER hurt! Ouch!

  5. Yeah those crazy dreams....I couldn't take it LOL. I went back to work today and it's the first time I have been out since I got home last Wednesday; I discovered that driving makes me sick to my stomach. I called the dr and he called in sublingual med for me so i can drive and not throw up all the way in. But I reallyc an't complain about anything else. I'm SO looking forward to the soft/mushy food stage!!!

Omg! Nausea while on a moving vehicle at all. I get all sweaty and anxious. Not fun. Hope you feel better.

  6. Is it the biggest one? If it is that's the one that had more trauma they remove the stomach out of the biggest incision and normally it gets stretched a lot hence why it might be more painful give it a couple more days. If its not red or hot to the touch you'll be ok. Always contact your doc if it doesn't feel right..

Yes it was the biggest one & today I really feel like a million bux. Finally exactly one week later I feel a lot better. Thanks!

  7. I had my surgery on 12/10. I have one lap site that is SO painful!! It hurts so much!! Especially in the evening. It is NOT red, swollen or inflamed. It is just so painful. It feels just the way it did after surgery. Pretty much no better! And it's been a week! I'm so annoyed by this because otherwise I feel I am doing great. What can I do to make this better? What can I do to help the pain? I've tried heat, cold, the only thing that helps is not really moving- but I'm not about to stay still & get a blood clot! Ugh!

  8. I was sleeved 12/10 & I'm miserable! I was supposed to be on full liquids but can't swallow them with out them feeling like they get stuck' date=' so had to switch back to clear liquids. My main incision site hurts very bad & I honestly have had moments I've regretted doing this.. I hope I get to where others are soon because this is awful! :([/quote']

I understand. It's rough. This sh*t ain't easy!! I have faith that it will get easier as we go. Just not so easy yet that's for sure. When I eat I have to wait long periods between bites cuz my sleeve cramps & it hurts. Seems to be gas.

  9. Laura' date='

I have been uncomfortable since the 6th. I developed an allergy to the glue and the swelling, and itching have spread over my entire stomach and starteed toward my back. i went and got prescriptions yesterday and stated on anti-biotics.

So you are not alone, my friend. I have been having to go back on the pain meds in order to get some sleep at night. The itching drives me out of my mind!

BUT, none the less, I am still doing well. I have had no problem getting my liquids and Proteins in.

I have lost 16 pounds since the 6th.

So keep the faith. Try not to compare yourself to others just keep on keepin' on. Doing your best, is good enough, you will get through it.

    Peace, Ainslee[/quote']

    Thank you! :-)

  10. Listening to you all I'm thinking I'm doing terribly. I had my surgery on 12/10. I have been in pain ever since. I have this one lap site- the one most of the surgery was done through- it hurts so much- it's even sucked in a little bit- like the skin and fat and muscle is buckled like it sutured really tight in there. If it weren't for that- I don't think I would need the pain meds- but I've been using them religiously because if I don't- I'm in terrible pain. Sometimes intake half the Vicodin half just regular Tylenol- that seems to help. Gas pain is annoying but I'm dealing with it. I've been staying hydrated but haven't had a BM yet. I think I'm going to do a dulcolax suppository for that today. I'm not doing bad- I just don't feel like I'm doing great. :-( you all seem to be doing great. I can't wait to get to the point where I feel we'll again. I am not doing that great with full liquids- they nauseate me a bit. I handle the clears much better. One thing I can say is that thankfully I'm not vomiting & I haven't vomited once. Please pray for me.

  11. I do fine during the week but MAN as soon as the weekend comes along it seems like I have this need to get in the kitchen and into the bad foods. This weekend I stocked my fridge with hi Protein Shakes and lowfat greek yogurt (which is really hard to get into; at least for me). I'm really looking forward to not being ABLE to eat LOL

Omg! I know! Me too! I hate that stuff- Greek yogurt.
