    Black Vomit During Sleep

Another thing to keep in mind....while sleeping, it is very easy to aspirate (breathe in to your lungs) the vomit, this can lead to respiratory distress, pneumonia and other respiratory related illnesses.

    Black Vomit During Sleep

As a nurse...I wholeheartedly agree with everyone else!! You could have an internal GI bleed, and this needs immediate medical attention! ASAP!!!!
  7. Thats great news airwayman!!!! :clap2:
  8. Oh Tracey...thats awesome!!! :clap2: I'll be glued to the computer all day tomorrow waiting to hear your surgery date!!! Be sure to post it as soon as you know!! Motivation

Besides the health issues, my youngest son is my motivating factor. The day he told me I had to "quit growing" because he couldnt get his arms around me to hug me was a real wake up call for me.
  10. My husband and I have discussed the lapband for awhile, and once I finally decided to "just do it" I told my best friend and my two oldest children (16, 19) Thats all I wanted to know....problem is, my hubby told his best friend (who also told several more friends)and his in-laws (who have told other in-laws), my children told their friends (who told their parents) and now my two youngest sons (9, 12) know, and they told their teachers....talk about privacy!! LOL I did call my sister, who lives out of state....expecting to be condemned for my decision...but I was pleasantly surprised at her reactions!! In fact, she had me send her all the on-line info I had because she is thinking about it, too!! Last night I went to the initial seminar, and while I was gone, I got a phone call....my youngest son told the person calling "Mom went to a meeting to get skinny"
  11. The surgery itself hasnt been denied...so thats great news lizrbit!!!
  12. 2bthinagn... Sorry I missed you at the seminar tonight....I couldnt find a red flower to wear!! LOL I must say, that after tonight, I am much more relaxed about the whole surgery thing...and really looking forward to working with Dr. Hoehn! But... OMG, he is such a cutie...and he will see me without my clothes on!! Dont let one person deter you from what you want....she may be around for a while...but not forever!!!
  13. You might also want to check out this site for a support group in Kansas City. http://www.kcwlsfriends.homestead.com/
  14. Woo hooo!! A letter in hand is worth ....well, a surgery date!!! I'll be checking here often for the date!! Congratulations once again!!
  15. Thank You Tracey!! You have been a big inspiration to me through all of this!! Because of you, I know know what and what not to say and do when it comes to my insurance company....and "Teresa" at my insurance company already knows that I'm not about to take NO for an answer!! Yep, we are already on a first name basis...should be after I've called her so many times already!! LOL The only way they can deny me if if its an employer exclusion....and I've got that covered as well, my hubby is co-owner of the company that pays the 200K premiums yearly for their employees insurance coverage, so he will change the policy if he needs to! (It helps to know poeple in higher positions...lol)
  16. I'll see you there tonight 2bthinagn!! I dont know how you'll know its me, other than my first name is Mary...and I really dont have any clue as to what I'll be wearing yet. (Do I sound like a teenager getting ready for a date, or what?!) Maybe I should wear a big red flower in my hair!! LMAO!!! Maybe I'll use a play on words and just stand up in the middle of the seminar while the Doc's are talking and say "I want to be thin again!!" You think that might get me a few extra appointments with Sabapathy?? Anyway...I'm sure through this whole process that we'll run into each other at some point. Best of Luck to you!!!
  17. You know the approval letter is on its way!! Thats a major accomplishment for all the hard work you've put into this!! I'm so proud of you for being relentless in your pursuit! Congratulations!! I'll be anxiously awaiting word for your surgery date!! You've been a great inspiration for me...THANK YOU!!! Mary

    My Struggle

Wow....that really hits home. To know that so many others have experienced what I have gone through and still am going through.... Thank you pre-bander!!
  20. I havent use my magic bullet to mix protein drinks yet, I'm not that far....but I can tell you that I use it almost daily!! I dont know what I did all those years without it...its wonderful and I highly recommend everyone get one!! (No, I dont work for the company...lol)
  21. Myself, I think emails are to impersonal...I think I'd prefer to get a Thank You note in the mail. It just has more personal touch to it. If thats the way you choose to go, then get them in the mail as soon as you are feeling up to it. Definately send a card to each of them, just in case one doesnt relay the sentiments to the others. But thats just my thoughts on it. BTW....congratulations on your surgery!!
  22. Dont give up lizrbit....its a waiting game. If your surgeon's office is willing to handle the insurance part of it, let them, they should know exactly what it is you need to submit to the insurance office, but keep yourself informed!! Before my insurance will even consider a yes/no decision, I have to have a letter of neccessity from my PCP, a letter from the surgeon, a psych eval and nutrition consult turned into them first. (My insurance will pay for psych eval and nutrition consult since they are the ones requiring it) I attend my first seminar Monday night, (Feb 5th) and will take it from there. I wish you lots of luck!! Keep us updated on what you find out!! I'm pulling for you!!!

    Bcbs - Ks & Sc

Wow Tracey...its so good that you caught that typo when you did!! You're always right on top of everything!! I noticed that your authorization date a little lower down is for 1/10/07 to 1/10/07....can I ask why that is?

    way way new

Congratulations on coming to a WLS decision...to me, that was the hardest part!! I cant tell you how long it will take, as I am just starting my own process. But you've come to the right place for support!! I havent told my family (my husband and my 2 older children know) because I am afraid of the same reactions from them that you got from your mother and brother. I will tell them eventually...maybe after I have the surgery? lol Luckily for me, they all live out of state and I dont have to explain myself to them as much as I felt I had to before. I wish you much success in your journey!! Mary
  25. I'm sorry, but I just had to laugh at this!! I dont want to wake up on THE OTHER SIDE...I want to stay on THIS SIDE...just the healthier and lighter side of this side!!! Is there such a thing as surgery insurance..you know...like they have at the airports before you fly? I'd be much more comfortable if I knew that my family would be taken care of...just in case.
