Blending things on liquid diet
JimR915 replied to CherieElise's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How BIG of a straw?? LOL! -
Thank you so much for posting this heatheth. My wife jokingly scoffs at me when I say that I'm in pain. She figures that nothing I experience is worse than 2 natural births and one c-section. Before this, I didn't have a defense. Now I do

My first day out of the hospital.
JimR915 replied to Cait's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Cait, Congratulations on your surgery. I was banded one week ago. I too was in considerable pain the second day after surgery. More painful than I anticipated it to be. Mostly due to the amound of gas that I had in my stomach. That took a couple of days to work it's way out. Due to the swelling, I didn't feel like eating either. I was able to start sleeping on my side at about the 4th night. Now, 1 week later, I have no pain whatsoever. I've just started the mushies stage today (never thought I would like yogurt as much as I did this moring). I feel like I am almost back to normal So...hang in there. You'll be feeling better in no time and you'll look back and be amazed that you healed as quickly as you did. This is only temporary. Good luck -
How can you "fail" with the band?

How can you "fail" with the band?
JimR915 replied to CarynW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For those of you who say that you can eat the same as you did before the band, it raises the question... What is the band doing for you? It may be a naive question, I know....and I mean no disrespect. I'm just curious as a recent bander. I could diet before the band and had some success, but always gained it back for various reasons. I look at the band as being that "limiter" to make it unpleasant to over eat and help me to make the right choices. Just curious if you all are the norm, or if I will experience the restriction, and therefore help, that I expected. -
My name is Jim. I recently turned 40 and live in Massachusetts. I got my band on Aug. 12th. I've already lost more than 12 lbs. My starting weight was 312. My goal weight is 210 After 15 years of yo-yo dieting, and declining health issues, I am convinced that this will be the best thing I ever did for myself. I'm excited to be taking this journey, and am glad to have found this forum to know that I have support when I need it. And....I'm sure I'll give some support as well

Big day for my wife

Very exciting! All the best to you and her today and on your journey together. -
I had my surgery on Friday 8/12. During the last few days of healing, a lot of questions surfaced in my mind that I couldn't have imagined to ask prior to the surgery. I googled a lot and visited lap band sites, but none answered the questions that I had. I am so happy to have found this forum. As of now, all of the questions that I had floating around my head have been answered by other posts. It really puts my mind at ease to know that I am on this journey with others experiencing (or experienced) the very same thing I am and that I have a place now to ask the questions as they come up. Thank you everyone
