My surgery was a success and recovery is somewhat slow then I expected. I have some pain but not a lot matter fact the only time I feel real pain is when I cough or sneeze. I having a hard time in getting water in. But I am able to eat yogurt, jello and protein shake. I will just be glad when I can get these staples removed. I also realize some of my clothes are getting big. I almost forgot is anyone having some tenderness in their legs I just noticed it today? Call my insurance 24 hr nurse line and she said that I can just keep on taking the blood thinner and everything should be ok. I will probably call my doctor's office tomorrow to be on the safe side. I will be glad when my life gets back to some type of normalize.

Well March Sleevers, tomorrow is my big day. I am on a totaly clear liquid diet and drinking Magnesium citrate for lunch to prepare for surgery. I am now official getting more nervous about the whole thing. I just hope that I am one of those who has an easy receovery. I just don't want to feel a lot of pain, discomfort is okay. But pain is something else. You all just pray for me that the surgery is a success and my recovery is smooth and easy.
  4. I started my pre-op liquid diet on Thursday, March 22nd with the surgery date of March 29th. I would say that the first two days are the hardest, especially since this weekend my family had a lot of celebration from marriage to Goddaughter birthday. I was good with the exception that I had four bite of my cousin's lasanga on Friday at the reheasal dinner and very small piece of carrot cake on Saturday at the wedding reception. But nothing at my Goddaughter birthday. The lasanga made me sick to my stomache so it did not stay and the carrot made me a lttle bit nausa. Over all I feel I am doing all right. The one tip I can give you is try to fill yourself up before going to any event with the right stuff. If you are full prior you want be so tempted to indulge in all of the wrong foods. Get someone to hold you accountable for what you eat, my husband watch me like a hawk. He is the reason why I only ate four spoonful of the lasanga and a small amount of cake and not the whole bowl or a larger piece of cake. Keep thinking to yourself what you are doing is preparing for your future. Do not let food control you, you control the food.

    Hey Guys

mrsbrown0330 I am not sure if losing your booty will occur, I hope not! But I feel if our booties are made up of muscle and not fat our booties are here to stay. Just make sure you are consuming enough of the Protein needed and exercising. I read if you exercise your muscle while you are losing weight you are telling your body you need those muscle. So then your body has to get it’s much needed energy from the fat storage. I am walking 2 miles a day and lifting, I know I will not be able to lift after my surgery until I heal but I will definitely be walking.

Good Morning Lighteningbug and BuBsmama, You guys surgery date is just a few days prior to mine. I glad to see you all are feel good. I am just a bit anixous but not scared. It just I have been going through this process for sometime and now it is getting to the very end. Yesterday, I did all of the pre-op testing, today I saw my surgeon and everything is set. Tomorrow I start my pre-diet and then in a few short days the BIG DAY!!!
  10. I love both but if I had to choose I would probably pick the Spin Bike. Why do you feel it may be limited? You increase the amount of time and speed which should achieve what you want.

Ok March Sleever I am officially getting nervious. I just received a call from my surgeon regarding the lab tests that needs to be done prior to my surgery. Now it seems so real as if this is really going to happen. Prior to this it just felt like it was a thought or something down a distant future. But that is not so true now, that call just put everything into prospective. I am about to have this surgery less than two weeks away. Tomorrow I have to go to my surgeon office's for all of lab work, then I have to start my liquid diet. Boy, I a feeling a lttle anxious and wondering if I am making the right decision.

Thanks canadianprairiegal I will start sipping and chewing today, I remember at the seminar they told me about that but I completely forgot about it. My husband and I already walk at night about 2 miles maybe we should increase it by two more miles for right now and then after surgery we can make the first two miles our goal to build up to. Thanks for the info.

Thanks canadianprairiegal for share your experience. I am getting a little anxious about the whole thing. All week some of my friends have been asking me if I was excited. I told them no, I am just anxious about the unexpected. I have had one major surgery about a year ago but for some reason this one is making me a little anxious. I have 2 weeks before the surgery, I feel once I go and see my doctor for the pre-testing, I will start feeling a little bit more excited, It's just the waiting I having a hard time dealing with. Does anybody have any suggestion on preparing for the surgery? I just want to be prepared (body and mind) prior to the surgery.

I have a question to those who have had their surgery. My doctor wants me start my liquid diet one-week prior to surgery. But in everything I read on this forum I notice that most are on a two-week liquid diet. I was wondering if I should put myself on a two-week liquid diet just to be sure my liver is completely empty or should I stick to the one-week.

Aaeztive, I never lost the required weight and my nutritionist was constantly on me. Stating that if I did not lose the required weight I would not be approved for the surgery. Well, that was not true, I charted all of my active and foods and this was enough proof to satisfy the insurance company for appproval. But from what I have read and seen from other within this forum. Alot of people lost a great deal of weight on the liquid diet prior to the surgery.

Leederz, Thank you for sharing. The getting back to normal is one of my concerns. About a 1 year old I had a major surgery that took me over 6 six weeks to recover. I was kind of anxious about this surgery because I just was not sure if I would recover by the next day or if it was going to take me several weeks. But hearing that you are recovering so well it make me feel a lot better about it. As for the pain I am not so worry about it. As I said the 1 major surgery I had was so painful that if I can make it though that I can make it though anything. Again thanks for sharing.
