  1. I don't start solids for a couple of weeks but I've been meal planning and looking up healthy recipes and I was wondering if tortilla wraps are okay to eat. I know to stay clear of breads but are tortilla wraps considered somewhat the same? Is there anyone that has problems with them? Thanks!
  2. I'm afraid of the trial and error also lol. I did find a spicy grilled chicken wrap recipe thats only 275 calories for the whole thing, you have to use a whole wheat tortilla but it looks really good. I'm not really a carb watcher but I'll see how everything goes once I can start eating solids. Thank you for the suggestions everyone!
  3. That sounds good to me, I'll ask the hubby to see if he can find those. I found a couple of grilled spicy chicken wrap recipes that I would love to make. I love bread so I thought the tortilla wraps might help that craving. Thank you very much for the info!

How Much Longer Do I Wait?

I was approved in less than a week. I was approved on February 28th but I didn't get a surgery date until April 16th. I kept getting excuse after excuse of why it was taking so long. First the insurance couldn't get my approval faxed into my doctors office because their fax wasn't working, that took several days to even get sent over. Then the doctors office kept delaying everything because they had just moved offices. I think waiting for that surgery date was the most stressful time of my life! lol

    Can You 'feel' Your Band?

I haven't felt mine so far but my band is empty so I don't know if that makes any difference or not.
  6. Had my surgery on the 16th and my surgeon puts them in empty, which I was pretty glad. I get my first fill on May 15th.

    Regrets?

Well, i'll give him this one time. He was right ONCE the entire time we have been together... just once though. Lol! He's really supportive but we pick on each other all the time, it's pretty fun!

    Regrets?

Lol, YES. Mine was on day two though. I was swollen, in pain, barely getting enough liquids in, and scared. I told my husband that I didn't know what I got myself into. I for some reason thought that the way I was feeling at that very moment was how I was going to feel for the rest of my life. I actually went to bed crying thinking that I had doomed myself. I woke up the next morning in very little pain and everyday after that got better and better. Now I feel fine and my husband still makes fun of me for that night I was regretting it all! It gets a lot better day by day and even though I'm only a week and a half out I forget that I'm banded sometimes...which can be bad I guess because I don't want to accidentally eat something I shouldn't lol.

    I....am...banded

This was the first time I've gotten treatment like this before. She was awesome, the whole staff was. I felt like I was being taken care of by family but yet they were strangers. I will ALWAYS remember that experience!

    Hungry Help

I had my surgery on the 16th as well. I wouldn't eat any solids until your doctor allows you to because after going through this you wouldn't want to have to go through it all again to have something fixed. I'm on full liquids right now and I was starving for the longest time until today. I got some soup from a Chinese restaurant and it was extremely satisfying (strained of course). I was told I can also have things like instant mashed potatoes, pudding, applesauce, and yogurt so if you're on full liquids maybe some of those might satisfy you until you are on mushies. It's hard, extremely hard, but it will pay off!

    I....am...banded

Congrats! I'm glad you had a great experience. Having a great experience at the hospital really is nice. The staff at the surgery center I went to was really nice. The anesthesiologist put her hands on my face before I went under and said "We're going to take great care of you". And my Doctor told me not to worry that I will do great. Right then and there I knew I would be well taken care of. Congrats again on getting banded, I've only been banded a little over a week and I love it!

    54Shirley Passed Away

I didn't know her but this is very sad. May she be at peace and my thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

    Im Ready

    Congrats!
  14. I'm 8 days post op and I've been having a great post Op so far but today after getting home from my post op appointment I noticed one of my incisions scabs came off and the glue was off from the area also. I just lightly pressed around the incision and some clear liquid (with a hint of red) came out. Every time I push on the area around it more comes out. It's not sore at all so what is this? And of course I noticed it AFTER my post op appointment.
  15. Thank you everyone for the replies. There's no lump or pain, I do have some itching around the incision but I think I will call in the morning to see what I need to do.. the last thing I want is an infection. Thank you!

    Will Power

I agree, I'm on full liquids this week so it's a teeny bit better than just clear liquids but I'm so hungry. My stomach growls all day long and I catch myself chewing my liquids lol. Tomorrow I'm going to buy some spicy soup from a local Chinese restaurant and strain it, still not actual food but it's going to taste a lot better than the broth I have been eating. I'm actually looking forward to starting mushies on Monday so I can have chicken salad and eggs!
  17. I hope your not sick either. Just try your best to stay away from anyone sick (I know it's hard) and hopefully if you do have something it will be gone before your surgery. Good Luck!
  18. I had a cough and congestion that lasted with me for about two weeks before surgery, I still have no idea if it was allergies or what. But when they called me two days before surgery to go over everything they could hear how congested I was and asked me if I was sick, I said I thought it was just allergies and she said okay but if I was sick they would have to postpone the surgery. On surgery day I felt fine but when they checked my temp it was high, I told them that I didn't know why it was high and I didn't feel sick (mine is always a little elevated). They went ahead and did the surgery but I think it was because I was showing no other signs of being sick.
  19. I had surgery on Monday (April 16th) and I'm on a clear liquid diet until this coming up Monday. All I have had is clear liquids but I'm getting a build up on my teeth that I've never gotten before. I've been brushing my teeth more than normal just to get the build up off because I hate the feel. What's causing this?

    April Bandsters!

I had my surgery on April 16th (5 days out). I feel great, have very little pain. Port site is sore when I cough, sneeze, etc. I have a little gas still stuck in my chest but it gets a lot better everyday. Still on clear liquids until Monday but they seem to be keeping me satisfied (it's a miracle!). I don't know if I'm supposed to count the pre-op diet but if so I'm down 19 pounds total (8 pounds after surgery). I feel remarkably well, I went into it very scared but it wasn't near as bad as I thought. I skipped taking pain meds.. mostly because I was scared they would come right back up. But I'm feeling pretty good so far!

    Need Help

I'm on day 6 post op and I still have a pain in my chest. It isn't near as bad as it was but it almost feels like a stuck burp. It can get extremely annoying, but I'm pretty sure mine is still gas pain. If you have concerns I'd call your doctor just to make sure.

    Question About My Teeth

I'm glad to know I'm not the only experiencing it. I was wondering what was going on, it's driving me crazy! I'll try the Listerine, Thanks for the reply!

    Liquid Diet Has Commenced!

Thanks! I like to be honest about it because that's what I would have wanted going into this. But it does get easier. All I've had today was broth, sugar free Jello, and Water and I feel completely satisfied. Good luck with your surgery, you will do great!

    Liquid Diet Has Commenced!

I'm going to be completely honest about how I was.. I struggled so hard with the liquid pre-op diet. I cheated for the first few days, and I felt extremely guilty everytime I did it. I mean, I'm big and have been big my whole life and have always eaten a certain way so when I was deprived of having the certain foods I was used to having I failed big time. A few days before the surgery I went to the surgery center to pay my costs and sign papers. They weighed me because they needed a final accurate weight and I had gained nearly 20 lbs since my consultation which put me over a 55 BMI. They said I would need to lose 3 lbs before surgery (which was in 4 days) or I wouldn't be able to have the surgery. I cried when I got home because I new I had done it to myself and possibly had ruined my chance to have the surgery. I got right back on track with those protein shakes and even exercised (something that I hadn't done in years). On surgery day I was extremely nervous because I was expecting to be told to go home, but to my surprise I had lost 11 pounds just in those 4 days. I was ECSTATIC because I knew I did that for myself and it was a lot easier than it had ever been because I knew I HAD to do it. I had surgery on the 16th and everything is going great. I've been on a clear liquid diet since then and it's been quite easy and I've been losing weight steadily. On Monday I get to have yogurt, pudding, carnation instant breakfast, etc. I don't get to have things like eggs until the week after, but right now I don't feel deprived or hungry and know I can totally do this! Well, there was my story. I completely admit to cheating on my pre-op diet for a few days and it's something I feel guilty for and it almost bit me in the butt. But I got back on track and loving it now. The pre-op diet was way harder than the diet after being banded. Hang in there because it's very rewarding afterwards! Good Luck! (and sorry about how long this was)
