    Plication

Good luck bromo! And Glad it went good for you Corrigan! Id also like to add that today I found out that the plication that I received with my band isnt really the standalone plication procedure. Its only a single fold instead of double which does still decrease the stomach size by about 70% and the complications are less then the double fold in terms of blood flow problems necrosis etc. It also helps keep the band in place better like corrigan said. Doc also said he has some lap band with plication patients that are out doing some of his gastric bypass patients in terms of weight loss. They are really happy with the results of this double procedure so far. Not sure how the long term will pan out with this newer method but so far its looking pretty good.

    Plication

I got the same on aug 15th and so far I feel great and I only have 2-3cc in band. I get full on a really small meal. About 4-6 oz. Im not even hungry most of the time and I stuggle to fit in 900 calories per day with Protein shake supplements since im still on soft foods.
  4. Dont lie. You know its really a beer you miss chugging. lol Oh and this thread delivers.

Do you still enjoy food after lapband...

I dont mean to rain on the parade here but for me I am missing the way I used to eat but I am not missing the weight I lost so far. I miss drinking with my meals and I miss taking big bites and not chewing my food as good as I do now. Sometimes when I chew my food as good as I am supposed it seems kinda gross to me when its almost like applesauce. I just guess I still have to get used to it all. I do enjoy foods that I dont have to chew good though like yogurt and pureed things. Mark my words though it has all been so worth it so far. I havent been this low in weight in 4+ years. Also Im only 3 weeks post op and im still on soft foods so I still have some adjusting to do I'm sure.
  6. Yeah they will let you. My doc tells everyone 21 days but they let me in on a secret post op that most people can only make it about 10 for insanity reasons and they let them go to soft. You are doing great on the liquid diet. Keep up the good work!
  7. I made it a full 14 days flawless on liquid diet. I was supposed to go for 21 days but when I saw my nutrionist at the 14 day mark she gave to go ahead on soft foods. Honestly I could have done 21 days though. It was definately taxing but doable. You just have to keep telling yourself its only x number of days. Its not like you have to eat like this forever. And what dave said you can really do some damage if you dont at least let your stuff heal for a week or two. I have been on soft foods now for about a week and I have eaten stuff that is a bit more solid then soft foods. I just chewed the hell out of it and took real small bites. I didnt eat alot of it though.
  8. wow you lost 37 pounds in three weeks? Or does that include preop loss? Ive only lost almost 15 in two weeks and 3 days. But yeah plication with band has been great so far for me. I am pretty much fully recovered already and doing full workouts already.

    This is crazy!

Man I hope things get better for you. Sometimes the body will hold on for a long time before it lets the weight go. Dont get discouraged when you go a whole week eating 800 to 900 calories. It will eventually come off. It has to. Just gotta be patient. Also you need to have a doctor that cares and wants to work with you. I feel this is very important. If you dont like your current doc maybe find another one? This could be a new start for you with a doctor that actually listens!

    This is crazy!

Hi guys, So I was banded with plication on the aug 15, 2011 and yesterday my nutritionist gave me the green light on soft foods after a flawless 14 days of liquid diet. All I have to say is WOW. This morning I managed to eat a whole large scrambled egg and 2 oz of greek yogurt. I am full from this. And I mean full. Its crazy. Before Id eat 3 scrambled eggs a piece of toast and 2-3 strips of bacon. I was only getting 500ish calories a day on the liquid diet and I actually wasnt losing weight for the past 4 days. My nutritionist wanted me to up my calories because she said I probably wasnt getting enough for weight loss because my body was in super efficient mode since the drastic drop in caloric intake. Its crazy that ones body will hold on for dear life for that long and not let go of any weight. No wonder people get so discouraged and fall off the wagon so often. So this morning I woke up and I was the same weight AGAIN! What the heck? Its really amazing how long the body will hold on for dear life to the weight. Funny thing is this time around I cant even fall off the wagon due to the fact I get full on 4oz of food lol. I love it and I know my body will eventually have to let go of the weight and start burning the fat storage. Also I have been working out on the stairmaster again since last week. I started at 15 mins and I am up to 30 mins already 2 weeks post op. I think I will bump to 40 today actually. Thats how good I feel! Really glad I did this. Hope everyone else is doing well. Dont get discouraged at plateaus. Just gotta keep pushing through!

    This is crazy!

If you are at full fill and have no restriction something might be wrong. Sorry to hear you are having all this trouble I hope you can get back on track somehow. Maybe see your doc to make sure nothing is wrong?

    Adding plication post op

So far so good for me but im only 2 weeks post op. I just started eating soft food today and I can tell you I cant eat much at all and I only have 2 ccs in my band. First thing I ate was scrabled eggs and I could only get down half of one egg. Of course they say it will get to be more soon but I feel my stomach size is much much smaller and it just fills up very fast. Its crazy. I had about 2 tablespoons of curried chicken, 1 tablespoon hummus and 2 teaspoons cottage cheese for dinner and I was full. Not overly full but I can tell I didnt want anymore. Im the type of guy that used to eat at least a full plate for dinner too. At least 8oz of meat among other things.

    Newly banded and sleep

First few nights I slept in our guest room and the bed has no headboard. Its right up against the wall so I stacked about 4 pillows up the wall and slept sitting up almost. Then after that I could sleep on back and about a week later I could sleep on my side. Now after two weeks I can sleep on my stomach with no problems and no meds. I was banded w/ plication on the 15th.
  15. Yeah It does seem to be getting somewhat better but its real slow. I am continuing to just do my prescribed liquid diet and I am doing fine. Thanks all.
  16. So I am 13 days post op and I am supposed to be on a liquid diet for 21 days. Only a week left. Anyway last night I made some BBq short ribs and pulled BBQ chicken for my family. I wanted to taste the chicken to season it correctly as I am culinary trained. My plan was to take a smal bite and spit it out just to see if need to add anything. Well I think I might(wierd because I thought I spit it all out too) have swallowed by accident the tiniest smallest particle of chicken and I think it is stuck because since 8:30(12 hours) last night I have this feeling of like a pill being stuck in the back of my throat. I went to whole foods this morning and chowed some papaya enzymes and what not. I dont have any pain but its just uncomfortable. So where does food get stuck? Is that what it feels like? Like a pill getting stuck after you swallow it? It feels like its stuck in the upper part of my esophogus. Im so upset with myself because I was absolutely flawless with my liquid diet so far. (
  17. Yeah it had to be 1/4 the size of a pea if anything. I was almost 99% sure I spit everything out.
  18. Yeah I can drink fine and I am continuing my liquid diet just like I have been but it just feels like something is stuck just where my neck meets my chest bone.
  19. hmm I wonder what that feeling is then. Its pretty annoying.
  20. Had it on the 15th of august. Doing pretty good Im almost all healed up already after 1 week and 3 days. I did 15 mins on stairmaster today too. I lost almost 13 pounds already because I am still on all liquid diet. Its not easy to eat like this but I only have a week and a few days left of liquids. First couple days after surgery were the toughest pain wise but the pain killers worked good.

    Newly banded on 8/19/2011

Hot bath? Pretty sure you shouldnt submerge any incisions under three weeks of surgery. At least thats what they told me. Cant go in our pool for three weeks! I had my band put in on Aug. 15th and the gas got much better after first week. I am not feeling much gas pressure anymore and if I do its not as bad as it was the first week. It gets better!

    Was the Band Necessary?

apparently since you made two threads that are virtually the same two days in a row.
  23. Hi guys, Ok so I am 5 days after surgery. I had a large hiatal hernia repair + lap band + plication on monday(8/15). So far today I am winging it without pain meds since 11:20 last night. Its not the most pleasant thing but its bearable. I was taking 5mg oxycodone about every 4 to 5 hours on the previous days. I am trying to not take the pain meds because I dont want to get hooked. People tell me oxycodone is pretty addictive but at the same time I feel like a few more days might be necessary given my current pain. Id say its probably a 3 out of 10. Should I just ride out the minor pain and not take anymore meds or should I just keep up the doses and feel better? Thanks in advance
  24. plumpdude

    About pain meds POST OP

Yeah thanks I broke down and took 5 mg. I feel SOO much better now. I was torturing myself all day. I went 15 hours without them though, so I guess that helps a bit.
